Er, what?

As per this message, I am kinda curious as to why you would think this was my account. I placed the new user template there after the user began contributing to Jack the Ripper and then offered to help the newbie out with any questions they might have. Please let me know if this fixes the confusion. - Arcayne (cast a spell) 14:55, 12 May 2008 (UTC)

Well, I didn't think it was your user, and there is nothing wrong with offering people help and welcoming them, but on this IP you had done it on his user page and talk page. As you probably now, you aren't meant to put thoes templates on user pages. I pressed wrong on TW, and acctually meant to tag it for speedy deletion. --EivindJ (talk) 15:21, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
Sorry, but could you point out where we are directed to put user shortcut templates? Welcome templates are one thing; user shortcuts are quite another. Additionally, why were you tagging a user page for speedy deletion? - Arcayne (cast a spell) 00:57, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
IP's aren't supposed to have user pages, and the shortcut templates should be put on the talk page. This is the normal way to do it. Of course, when someone has done double posting, I nominate the one of them for speedy deletion. What is the problem? Offended that it was deleted? This is normal housekeeping. --EivindJ (talk) 09:01, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

Smith's Friends - Teachings

EivindJ, could you explain the changes in the Talk Page? This is a major edit. I suspect it's a translation from the Norwegian - but a brief explanation on the Smith's Friends Talk page would be appreciated. Coigrich (talk) 16:59, 19 May 2008 (UTC)

I see, no problem. I understand that there is a need to try things out the first times, and I think all admins will understand that. Next time, consider doing as Onorem says on your talk page :) --EivindJ (talk) 12:49, 21 May 2008 (UTC)

apartment buildings

Wikipedia actually has quite a number of articles about apartment buildings, but of course they need to be notable ones. So thanks for catching Aamr Silver Oaks, which certainly is not one of them--alas, it does not qualify under speedy A7--only the types of articles listed there do. Therefore I changed the tag to a prod, using {{subst:prod|non notable: article about a small apartment building}}. If by any chance the tag is removed, it'll have to go to AfD, but I doubt it will be. DGG (talk) 13:04, 21 May 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for telling me! I'm not yet into the en.wiki templates properly (more templates here than on no.wiki), but I'm writing down the different ones as I see them (+ how to use them). I'm thankful for all the feedback I get! --EivindJ (talk) 13:26, 21 May 2008 (UTC)

AfD nomination of Harry (derogatory term)

I have nominated Harry (derogatory term), an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Harry (derogatory term). Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. Just to let you know...

When you add an interwiki to a template, like Template:AFDWarning, it's usually best to wrap the interwiki in the <noinclude> block. Otherwise, when you use the template, the interwiki link will show up on all of the pages that the template is on. Thanks, Kesac (talk) 01:25, 24 May 2008 (UTC)

Oh, my slip-up. Thanks for making me aware :) --Eivind (t) 10:26, 24 May 2008 (UTC)

Wikipedia:BIA CSD

Hi there. I see that you added a CSD to WP:BIA. You might want to be aware that WP:BIA was recently restored due to a DRV which ended up as Overturned. Further, it is currently undergoing a community discussion for deletion. Thus, tagging it as CSD in inappropriate for the above two reasons. Might you reconsider? Bstone (talk) 01:21, 26 May 2008 (UTC)

Of course, but when I tagged it it was a broken redirect. The page that it redirects to has been restored after my tagging. See the deletion history. I reckon it's appropriate to tag a broken redirect at any time. --Eivind (t) 09:05, 26 May 2008 (UTC)

Uploading

Hey buddy,

Thaks for your response, I had a good chuckle with the welcome cookies.

I am trying to upload an image froim a web site that is free to use.

They have provided it in a media centre where anybody can go and uploaded it.

I even called them to make sure it was okay and they said it was fine.

How do I get Wikipedia to understand this, and allow me to upload the image?

Thanks agaain.

Look forward to hearing from you. Yitzhaac Pesach (talk) 20:48, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

Hi there! Of course, if it's not specified anywhere, you will have to get it written that they allow you to upload the picture. What kind of problems have you been met with so far? They delete due to lack of permission? --Eivind (t) 23:37, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

Hey,

I just wanted to say thanks for your response.

My question was answered.

Thanks a lot! Very nice stuff, really :) --Eivind (t) 15:19, 19 June 2008 (UTC)
Hey! Could I ask you to do me a favor? I have created a new, totally redesigned (in terms of User Interface) version of WikiLook. And looking for someone to provide feedback. There is specific question I'm looking at... You see, in this version I auto-enable WikiLook at Firefox start up. And I'm really wondering - is that OK to enable it by default at start up? Or dictionary look up frame are getting too annoying and it better to switch back old "need to enable manually after FF restart" type of behavior? It might take a few hours of few days browsing to figure that out, idk. TestPilottalk to me! 04:11, 20 June 2008 (UTC)
Hi there TestPilot, I'm of course more than happy to test it out and come with some feedback :) --Eivind (t) 08:35, 20 June 2008 (UTC)
Thank you! I, while testing it with random IRC users, discovered that there is some "un-clearness" of how to use it. Please check "how to use" paragraph on https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/7675/ . Hope you like it! TestPilottalk to me! 16:53, 20 June 2008 (UTC)

Redirect of Build Or Destroy

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Build Or Destroy, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Build Or Destroy is a redirect to a non-existent page (CSD R1).

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Build Or Destroy, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Hi!

Hi Eivind, nie ek bly nie in suid-afrika nie, ek bly in engeland. Maar ek het daar gebly wann ek was jong. My afrikaans is nie baie goed nie, so ek gaan engels praat. Ok, at the moment i havn't been back to south africa for about 5 years and i am EXTREMELY homesick. Once i finish school i will make constant trips back and forth to my motherland. Hoe is dit in suid-afrika nou? i wish i was there at the moment. =/

Bezuidenhout (talk) 15:25, 17 November 2008 (UTC)

Do you have an account on afrikaans wikipedia? --Bezuidenhout (talk) 15:27, 17 November 2008 (UTC)

Bezuidenhout comes from the area between the hague and frysland (holland) , bezuidenhout means in dutch 'south of the hague forest (be-zuiden-hout). ALL my family live in the 'transvaal area'. I have many family in pretoria. another fact is that all my family but 1 couple live in south africa. They are ALL afrikaans and they ALL live in 'Transvaal' area. As with pretoria, ALL my family except 2 live in gauteng (the others live in Mpum) but what i know of, MOST of my family live in northern gauteng (pretoria) but even i came from Joburg, my dad came from benoni and my mom even lived in PE for a period of time. But now my family are still living good (for most of them) in their homeland. My parents lived in many places except the OFS. if i go back i would prefer to live in pretoria or western cape (mosselbaai) where my family are (pretoria) or where theirs lowest crime (mosselbaai had lowest crime in whole of SA, no robberies in 2007). So what about you? My account on afrikaans wikipedia is called 'Africa South'.--Bezuidenhout (talk) 15:52, 17 November 2008 (UTC)

I have a copy in my user space, but you should really ask before marking stuff for deletion. I worked for dozens of hours on the draft in my userspace, but had the mainspace one been my primary draft I would have lost a lot of work.
