COI using Wikipedia to promote your own articles

edit

  Hello, I'm Canterbury Tail. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions have been undone because they appeared to be promotional. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" are against Wikipedia policy and not permitted; Wikipedia articles should be written objectively, using independent sources, and from a neutral perspective. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you.

  Hello, Edwin Rose 2018. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you.Canterbury Tail talk 17:44, 29 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

In addition to the above good advice I'd just like to ask whether you are the same person as User:Edwin rose who got blocked back in 2007 for attempting to abuse Wikipeda as a free web host? If so, you are entitled to make a fresh start but not to carry on where you left off, abusing Wikipedia for your own personal ends. Please remember that Wikimedia is a educational charity. If you are not here to help with this then I suggest that you go elsewhere. After all, there are plenty of other ways that you can plug your publications.
Oh, and if you think you can just revert the edits removing your spam then you will just get blocked from editing again. --DanielRigal (talk) 17:55, 29 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

Blocked

edit

You have been blocked for abusing multiple accounts. Creating another account in a different name in order to continue to post links to your articles (R.Luxombourg) is not a bright move. It just goes to cement the perception that you're only using Wikipedia for personal promotion. I've only blocked you for a week in case you're willing to edit Wikipedia as a regular user instead of promoting yourself. However your next block will be indefinite if you continue your current pattern of editing. Canterbury Tail talk 21:22, 29 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

You have been blocked temporarily from editing for abuse of editing privileges. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.
