Speedy deletion nomination of User:Edwengineering

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on User:Edwengineering, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Your username

edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. I saw that you edited or created Draft:EDW Engineering, and I noticed that your username, "Edwengineering", may not comply with our username policy. Please note that you may not use a username that represents the name of a company, group, organization, product, or website. Examples of usernames that are not allowed include "XYZ Company", "MyWidgetsUSA.com", and "Trammel Museum of Art". However, you are invited to use a username that contains such a name if it identifies you personally, such as "Mark at WidgetsUSA", "Jack Smith at the XY Foundation", and "WidgetFan87". Please also note that Wikipedia does not allow accounts to be shared by multiple people, and that you may not advocate for or promote any company, group, organization, product, or website, regardless of your username. Moreover, I recommend that you read our conflict of interest guideline. If you are a single individual and are willing to contribute to Wikipedia in an unbiased manner, please create a new account or request a username change that complies with our username policy. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. Thank you. Fiddle Faddle 07:29, 3 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

Contested deletion

This page is not unambiguously promotional, because... (your reason here) --Edwengineering (talk) 07:57, 3 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I am not understanding why my page is being flag. It is a description of my company just like there is a description of the Comapany of Haliburton on this site. It appears Haliburton has preferential treatment by the banning of my user page. I was flagged by user Timtrent which never answered my question as to why it was flagged yet, states I was not polite enough so, he he has a user page sharing his opinion of why he joined Wiki? I would be willing to alter my page if someone could inform me to what is the violation. Thank you,

The page is advertisement for your company and unacceptable as a user page. Somewhere there is a policy. Pull your horns in. You still have your draft page which you need to work on. Perhaps you have missed the distinction between user pages and draft pages? One is about you, the individual. The other is an article you hope will be accepted as an article.
You need to concentrate on changing your user name, a name that will be blocked as soon as your draft is accepted, if not before.
And, if you think I have not told you why the draft was not accepted, read my comment on it carefully. Fiddle Faddle 08:27, 3 July 2014 (UTC)Reply
There is an encyclopedia article about the company Halliburton, but there is no user account User:Halliburton for the company, and no such account would be permitted, because Wikipedia accounts are for individuals only. For that reason, you need to apply for a change of username - see note above - or this account will be blocked. Your username may be based on your real name, or not, as you prefer (see WP:REALNAME for some considerations), but it should not be the name of any group or organization or of any other living person, and should represent only you as an individual. A username of the form "Robert at EDW" would be perfectly acceptable, and would serve to make your affiliation clear.
Wikipedia user pages are intended for the individual volunteers, who are here to help build the encyclopedia, to say something about themselves and ther Wikipedia activities. They are not for substantial content... that is unrelated to Wikipedia.
Also, please understand that Wikipedia is not a "notice-board" site like Facebook for companies to tell the world about themselves - Halliburton did not write and do not control that article, as you will see if you read it. Nobody "owns" a Wikipedia article, not its first author and certainly not its subject. If an encyclopedia article about EDW is accepted, others can and will edit it, and you will not be able to insist on your preferred version.
Even with a new individual username, in writing about EDW you would have, from Wikipedia's point of view, a WP:Conflict of interest, and should read that page and the Wikipedia:Plain and simple conflict of interest guide. JohnCD (talk) 09:25, 3 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

Your draft

Please see this diff where you will see that my comment about why it failed was left way before your suggestion that I have not done what I said I would do. There is work to be done if you think the organisation is notable. Fiddle Faddle 08:48, 3 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames that give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only yourself as an individual and which complies with our username policy.

You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose.

If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice.

You may simply create a new account, but you may prefer to change your username to one that complies with our username policy, so that your past contributions are associated with your new username. If you would prefer to change your username, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice. Thank you. Your draft article, Draft:EDW Engineering

edit

Hello Edwengineering. It has been over six months since you last edited your WP:AFC draft article submission, entitled "EDW Engineering".

The page will shortly be deleted. If you plan on editing the page to address the issues raised when it was declined and resubmit it, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}} or {{db-g13}} code. Please note that Articles for Creation is not for indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you want to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by one of two methods (don't do both): 1) follow the instructions at WP:REFUND/G13, or 2) copy this code: {{subst:Refund/G13|Draft:EDW Engineering}}, paste it in the edit box at this link, and click "Save page". An administrator will in most cases undelete the submission.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. HasteurBot (talk) 10:00, 9 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
