Hurricane Gustav Miscreants edit

I noticed your comment about the MPH hoax. I also get frustrated by nonsense edits, but we both realize that nobody should be relying on a Wiki article for survival information. That's what the official notice links are for at the bottom of the article. Maybe there should be a special info box inserted in the Current storm information section to highlight the official weather advisory links and to caution readers against using Wiki as their sole source of information in such dire situations? --Pat (talk) 05:19, 1 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Kudos edit

Gosh, what a rush to judgment, eh? And while writing from an alternate account, no less! -- Y not be working? 12:56, 3 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

And with regard to this, please refamiliarize yourself with WP:BITE. A diff like this was usually enough for me to oppose an RfA, back when I tracked RfA's. -- Y not be working? 13:15, 3 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
BTW, the article is locked, so ITS NOT AN ENCYCLOPEDIA THAT ANYONE CAN EDIT (all the time). --brewcrewer (yada, yada) 15:21, 3 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
I do not agree that the warning by the strangely named User:Arbeit Sockenpuppe who signs his name "Y not be working?" is appropriate. His threat to oppose an RFA is also bizarre. Brewcrewer's comment is well taken. We are always saying anyone can edit the encyclopedia, then semiprotecting the most-read articles. If I can edit it, and there is no notation on the page that it is semiprotected, is there a quick way to see whether the article is currently semiprotected, other than by reading back through many pages of edit history? Edison2 (talk) 15:35, 3 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
Yes, by checking its log. That wasn't a threat, dude - it was an observation that your conduct was unbecoming an administrator. I can't believe I have to spell this out. -- Y not be working? 15:37, 3 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
Even easier. There's usually a little lock icon at the top righthand corner of the article. --brewcrewer (yada, yada) 15:38, 3 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
He said no notation. -- Y not be working? 15:39, 3 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
Yes, but there should be a notation. I can edit the article, yet I still see the lock. --brewcrewer (yada, yada) 15:44, 3 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
I see the obscure little lock icon now. Thanks for the pointer. As for Y/Y not be working/Arbeit Sockenpuppe/?'s complaint about citing the fact stated at the top left hand corner of the main page that Wikipedia is the encyclopedia anyone can edit, I see it done all the time by many editors, and his is the first objection I have seen. Calling it "Conduct unbecoming an administrator" is way over the top and inappropriate. Edison2 (talk) 15:54, 3 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
Again - it is the rudeness I objected to, not the citing of the fact. And, for the record, calling my objection inappropriate is inappropriate. :) -- Y not be working? 17:00, 3 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
It seems rude to call my comments rude, but I apologize if it seemed to you bizarre for me to call your comment bizarre. Are we done here? Edison2 (talk) 17:13, 3 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
It's not rude to call your comment rude. Yes, we are done. -- Y not be working? 17:23, 3 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Wikibreak edit

User:Edison's computer seems to be fixed, so the Edison2 account is on extended Wikibreak until such time as I have to use a lower security or shared computer. Edison (talk) 03:54, 4 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
