Good day, User:east718 & User:Jennavecia,
I have noticed that the aformentioned template has been locked for a few years. Noting that: {{flag|Washington, D.C.}} → Washington, D.C. {{flagcountry|District of Columbia}} → Washington, D.C. {{flag|District of Columbia}} → District of Columbia and also noting that "flag" is by far more common than "flagcountry", I suggest that we set the "flagcountry" call to simply be Columbia. This suggestion would preserve grammar by allowing Washington, D.C. to literally be the District of Columbia, (cf., the State of Maryland and the Commonwealth of Virginia). As someone who was born in US-DC and who has spent the majority of my life in the Baltimore-Washington Metropolitan Area, I sincerely doubt this would raise any WP:NPOV issues. It further allows the District to be associated more closely with Columbus Day and Columbia in general. As it would only be applied when the rare user chooses "flagcountry" over "flag", I do not clearly see a reason to oppose such a move.

Sorry for the confusion. The area I cut and pasted was not nearly as illustrative of what I was asking as I had initially thought. I would like somebody to temporarily unlock Template:Country data Washington, D.C. so that it can be edited to make an output for {{flagcountry}} that differs from {{flag}}. They both currently yield
Washington and Washington, D.C., respectively, whereas I would like the former to output Columbia. According to Template:Flagcountry, this should be an easy edit. I would have done it myself but Template:Country data Washington, D.C. was locked by User:east718 at 2007-12-11T03:14:13 to apparently stop the page moves that it suffered. At 2007-12-13T04:29:34 after locking it, User:east718 reverted User:east718's own edit to the last version by User:Andrwsc. I hope somebody can help me. :)--Thecurran (talk) 13:07, 1 June 2009 (UTC)

I was hoping we could take advantage of the ability to add a second alias through using flagcountry that would read Columbia, because Washington, D.C. literally is in a district that is called Columbia; a name that represents the spirit of the United States of America much like Helvetica represents the spirit of Switzerland. In this way it, as a subdivision, will be grammatically consistent with our use for the other states. Like we say the person/team from or State of 
Maryland or the person/team from or the Commonwealth of 
Virginia, we could say the person/team from or District of Columbia instead of {{flag|District of Columbia}} → District of Columbia. It just seems to me that it would be more regular and clearer to people from different language backgrounds. I do not want it to pipe to Columbia. - As seen in the nomination statement of the deletion discussion, User:Camw is the editor who nominated the article for deletion. His reason being:
- "Previously deleted via AfD, this is an amateur sporting club that still doesn't show notability. Requests to add reliable sources to show notability have been removed from the page a number of times. The current links are almost entirely to the organisations own webpages, but the two that might be independent seem to consist of what looks like a university essay (currently link 2) and a broken link regarding a claimed record held by a member of the club (currently link 17). I've had a quick look for sources myself but haven't found anything that I would consider to satisfy our guidlines [sic]."

Why change from JPG to PNG?
On behalf of the User who originally added the TXE4 Floor Plan to the TXE article, may I ask why your Bot has changed it from JPG to png? Mark126 (talk) 12:18, 4 June 2009 (UTC)

- The article was tagged as a badJPG which put it into a category that east's bot runs through. The file was converted to png (which, in this case, is the same quality), then automatically updated to the typically better quality image. لennavecia 16:11, 6 June 2009 (UTC)
Right, I understand now and will pass that information on to the original creator of the image. I found your "sigh" and curt reference to WP:DIFF surprising. - Apologies for the curtness. When you request things of others, it's typically best to provide them with the link to whatever it is you're referencing. In this case, you did not even include a link to the image. Expecting people to go searching through page histories for what you're talking about often receives no response at all. لennavecia 18:12, 6 June 2009 (UTC)
Max B
Hi. What's the deal with Max B? I wasn't aware of any prior AfD on it or other proposal to delete. Did I miss something? Was it deleted under a different name in the past? I agree that notability was pretty marginal, and that there was a lot of completely moronic vandalism going on, but there were also sources showing at least some degree of notability. I had a go at tidying it up some time back and since then there have been good and bad edits. Unfortunately a lot of edits concerned the discography, which I couldn't verify, so that may have been way off without me knowing. - The article was deleted at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Max B; not much changed since the last deleted version except for the addition of a list of Max B's mixtapes and albums on Amalgam Digital. Normally I'd just look the other way but there was some really unseemly stuff relating to his ongoing murder trial going on, so I just deleted the article outright to prevent further problems. — east718 | talk | 17:29, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
718 bot
Hi East,
On WP:DABS, the bot is no longer working properly. It hasn't excluded birds from the dinosaur list since January. See User:718_Bot/DABS. Although technically birds are dinosaurs, we'd like to exclude birds from this list, as there's already a separate bird list. It didn't matter so much for a few months, but yesterday when I went to update italics on article titles, it became a problem. We also use the list to identify problematic (very short, usually unreferenced) new dinosaur stubs, identify articles which have reached a size comparable to the Featured or Good dinosaur articles, etc. Can this be fixed? - Hi Firsfron - I've known about this bug for a while, and unfortunately it's non-trivial to fix. I don't have the time to fix it and get the bot back up running at the moment, so it might be a good idea to throw the source code to a Python-oriented person -- maybe bjweeks, MZMcBride, or the people that hang out at wp:botreq? - See WP:IMAGES. We only use freely licensed images with the exception of cases of fair use. Many times, images can be found on http://flickr.com. Be sure to include all available information with your uploads. لennavecia 12:37, 12 June 2009 (UTC)

Deletion of Kathryn White's Wikipedia Page
[edit] Deletion of Page relating to Kathryn White Can you please restore the page that you deleted for Kathryn White, the English Children's Author.
Kathryn has published over twenty Children's stories here in the UK, and in 2006 her title "Here Comes the Crocodile" was shortlisted for two prestigous awards, The Sheffield Children's Book Award and the Nottingham Children's Book Award. Kathryn is also a regular contributor to the major literary festivals in the UK and will be appearing at the Edinburgh Festival for the second time in August this year.
Kathryn was originally referenced by one of her illustrators, Cliff Wright - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cliff_Wright and this prompted her family to try to create a Wikipedia page to chronicle Kathryn's achievements. In this we were able to enlist the kind help of the seasoned Wikipedia contributor Pradiptaray - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Pradiptaray
Apologies if in some way we have failed to follow the Wikipedia rules for external references. Most of Kathryn's publications were listed on her page, but perhaps more links were needed?
Kathryn is an active member of several Authors Societies here in the UK, including the Society of Authors and the Scattered Authors Society, and was featured on the list of British Children's Authors.
I have looked into the notability guidelines, which say in relation to authors -
Authors What authors get their own articles? Probably almost all non-self-published authors, per bio guidelines that specify Published authors, editors, and photographers who have written books with an audience of 5,000 or more or in periodicals with a circulation of 5,000 or more
And Kathryn clearly satisfies these criteria. Here Comes the Crocodile alone sold over 25,000 copies worldwide, and kathryn's first book, When They Fight, was published in a dozen languages across the globe, from Japanese and Korean in the East to Danish and Finish in the West.
Can you please restore this page so that we can continue the process of developing the content and links.

- The article was moved to the title Kathryn White (author) at some point. Under that title, it was proposed for deletion as being non-notable. east later deleted Kathryn White as a redirected to a deleted page. Regardless, as it was deleted as non-notable, to be restored, notability needs to be established. I'll look for some reliable sources, as you have provided none. لennavecia 18:52, 18 June 2009 (UTC)
- Establishing notability
Below I'll address each claim in relation to our notability guideline, specifically, WP:CREATIVE which applies to authors.
- 20 published works must be "significant or well-known" as shown in reliable, third-party sources, independent of the subject.
- Shortlisted for the Nottingham Children's Book Award (2005) and the Sheffield Children's Book Award (2005) is not a claim to notability, I don't think, unless the awards themselves are notable. I'll double check.
- Participation in the Edinburgh Festival is probably not a claim to notability, but I'll double check. If so, we need a reliable source to verify this, which I have not been able to find.
- An active member of the Society of Authors and the Scattered Authors Society is not a claim to notability, as they are trade unions.
- Featured on the list of British Children's Authors is also not a claim to notability for Wikipedia's inclusion criteria.
- Here Comes the Crocodile and When They Fight may establish her notability if they meet the notability requirements of Wikipedia:Notability (books).
Also worth noting that there were BLP (biographies of living people) violations in the history of the article. Such issues are why we must take great care with hosting biographies of living people on our project, as anyone may edit them. I will, however, continue to look into the above to determine what level of notability can be established. What would lead you to believe that my previous account was that of a banned user? In fact, I had never been banned before this incident, and was using a throwaway user (as I am here) to commentate on that one topic, because there is nothing to gain by using my main account on such a topic. That's probably why the article in question is ridden with nothing but established hysterics, industry sycophants and throwaway pseud users with less palletable agendas. Borland Turbo C 1.0
I saw that you made that screenshot of Turbo C 1.0 on here - I was wondering if you could let me have a copy of it, please? I've been looking for it for a few years now and have never found it.
I want it to look at and use with my Amstrad PPC-512, which can only use 720K diskettes.
