LORAN edit

Thanks for your note. I removed the paragraph because it was unsourced and contained unattributed opinions. It looks better now that it is properly sourced and formatted. As far as reference formatting goes, please have a look at how I formatted the refs you added in the Wayne Ison article. This isn't the only way to do it, but it is simple and effective and makes the article easy for those who follow on to edit. If you have any questions on referencing please do drop me a note. When it comes to Biographies of Living People refs are very important, as this CBC article shows. - Ahunt (talk) 14:23, 2 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Wow! That's a very good example of why references are important in biographies! Thanks for pointing that out. Most of the info on the Wayne Ison page is also in the EAA video interview. I would love to get a copy of the transcript of the video (if one is available). It is very good if you have the time to watch it. Thanks again DrWhatIKnow (talk)
It was that CBC article that really got my attention on refs in Wikipedia, too! I always say that Wikipedia is only as good as its refs and there are some articles that are great and others that are worthless as a result. - Ahunt (talk) 01:44, 3 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Firefly Balloons edit

You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles. See the Article Wizard.

Thank you.

A tag has been placed on Firefly Balloons requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, individual animal(s), an organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. -- Shadowlynk (Talk) 19:36, 8 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Please do not remove speedy deletion notices from pages you have created yourself, as you did with Firefly Balloons. Please use the {{hangon}} template on the page instead if you disagree with the deletion, and make your case on the page's talk page. Thank you. -- Shadowlynk (Talk) 19:44, 8 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Firefly Balloons edit

Thanks for your note. It keeps getting deleted because you aren't adding footnotes that establish that the subject has been covered by independent third party refs, which is a requirement for Wikipedia articles as per WP:N and WP:V. I would suggest that you copy the text your own sandbox page. You can create one by clicking on this redlink: User:DrWhatIKnow/Sandbox and then working on assembling your refs there before posting it back to mainspace. - Ahunt (talk) 15:48, 9 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Caffenol edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Caffenol requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Bruvtakesover 19:40, 23 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Caffenol edit

The article Caffenol has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

This article has no referneces and no reliable references can be found, just blogs, self-published websites and forum posts. Non-notable subject, it should not have an article on Wikipedia.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. December 2011 edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed maintenance templates from Caffenol. When removing maintenance templates, please be sure to either resolve the problem that the template refers to, or give a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, as your removal of this template has been reverted. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. Thank you for your recent contributions, such as Caffenol. Getting started creating new articles on Wikipedia can be tricky, and you might like to try creating a draft version first, which you can then ask for feedback on if necessary, without the risk of speedy deletion. Do make sure you also read help available to you, including Your First Article and the Tutorial. You might also like to try the Article Wizard, which has an option to create a draft version. Thank you. Eeekster (talk) 02:32, 10 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Please do not remove maintenance templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Caffenol, without resolving the problem that the template refers to, or giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your removal of this template does not appear constructive, and has been reverted. Thank you. Eeekster (talk) 02:33, 10 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Response to above: As noted in the edit summary, the page was/is a work in progress. Please do not edit/change a page while it is being written. Thank you~~

Narco Avionics edit

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Narco Avionics, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://www.avweb.com/avwebflash/news/NARCO_Avionics_Liquidation_204422-1.html.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. (If you own the copyright to the previously published content and wish to donate it, see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for the procedure.) Reply to above: The quote in question does not infringe on copyright. It is simply the statement which appeared on the company web site as reported by multiple news sources in the aviation press and confirmed by the author. The quote no longer appears on the site due to the company being dissolved in a no-asset bankruptcy, but read as "Due to circumstances beyond our control, we regret to inform you that after over 65 years in business, Narco Avionics, Inc. has closed. A trustee will be appointed shortly to oversee liquidation of assets and assure return of Customer's property, such as Customer's Radios sent to Narco for service, as soon as possible. We are extremely sorry for the inconvenience this causes and thank all loyal Narco Customers, around the world, for their loyalty over all of these years! Please monitor this web site as informational updates will be provided as soon as possible." DrWhatIKnow (talk) 08:27, 10 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

A tag has been placed on Narco Avionics requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Speedy deletion nomination of User:DrWhatIKnow/Caffenol edit

A tag has been placed on User:DrWhatIKnow/Caffenol requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section U5 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to consist of writings, information, discussions, and/or activities not closely related to Wikipedia's goals. Please note that Wikipedia is not a free web hosting service. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here.
