Twinkle!

  Resolved
 – Stuck with Lupid, awaiting to be added to WP:VPRF

Looking at your edits, It looks like you already have a program to help you vandle patrol, if not, can I recommended Twinkle! to you? I use it, all thought I plan on user VP with it is fixed :P What do you, if you do, use? (I also use Lupin's Anti Vandal tool, not for its revert function, but to display edits easer... Drop me a line, Tiddly-Tom 19:07, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

Only works with Firefox I am afraid. If you don't mind swapping, try it out, if you want to stick to IE, then it is your best bet to stick to Lupin's, espacaly if you are happy with it :) Tiddly-Tom 19:19, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

Your recent edits

Hi, there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. On many keyboards, the tilde is entered by holding the Shift key, and pressing the key with the tilde pictured. You may also click on the signature button   located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot 18:50, 5 October 2007 (UTC)

My bad, completely forgot on that page. Make sure you thank your owner for me ;-)

Your sig

  Resolved
 – Sig fixed.

Nothing personal, but your sig is massive and full of bad and redundant code. Here's your sig as it stands now:

Doyley Talk
<span style="border:2px solid #000;"><span style="border:2px solid #fff;"><font style="color: #FF0000; background-color: #FFFF00">Doyley </font><small><font style="color: #0000ff;">Talk</small></span></span>

There are also some line breaks in it that make it take up even more space on pages where you've signed (I've removed them in the above example, though). Here's a slimmed down version, with the code polished a bit more:

Doyley Talk
<span style="border:#000;border-left:2px solid;border-right:2px solid;padding:2px"><span style="color: #f00;background-color:#ff0">Doyley <small style="color:#00f">Talk</small></span>

Your original sig is 251 characters, while the revised one is 220. Personally, I'm a fan of simpler sigs (as evidenced by my own), but this should be a pixel-perfect duplicate of your existing one, just without a lot of bad code (like unclosed tags and tags that don't do anything). EVula // talk // // 15:53, 6 October 2007 (UTC)

That one was invalid too, actually: Here's a corrected one that also removes unneeded whitespace:
Doyley Talk
<span style="border:#000;border-left:2px solid;border-right:2px solid;padding:2px"><span style="color:#f00;background-color:#ff0">Doyley</span> <small style="color:#00f">Talk</small></span>
I concur with EVula in asking you to immediately fix this, as your sig as it stands right now is causing actual problems on talk pages. — SMcCandlish [talk] [cont] ‹(-¿-)› 14:52, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
Nevermind; I see that you have a new one, and it is valid code. :-) — SMcCandlish [talk] [cont] ‹(-¿-)› 15:15, 8 October 2007 (UTC)

Here is my new signature for the world to see :-D DoyleyTalk 15:20, 8 October 2007 (UTC)

Reminder

  Resolved
 – Will open ones eyes in future

Unless you're getting the pages from Special:Newpages, remember to check the history of articles before tagging them for speedy deletion. Munny for example, was vandalized and you tagged it for speedy deletions, but there was a non-vandalism version in the article history. This is tricky, so it's no big deal that you missed it... but it's something to try to look for. --W.marsh 14:08, 8 October 2007 (UTC)

Queen?

Where are the sources for your rumours? Are there people on your grapevine that would be known to be privy to such information?--Ibagli rnbs (Talk) 19:19, 22 October 2007 (UTC)

I'm wondering if the BBC or some other body was doing a rehearsal or something. Those have sparked rumors before.--Ibagli rnbs (Talk) 00:10, 23 October 2007 (UTC)

Help Desk question - Re: RfA

Actually please do not do what was suggested there, you should not move your old RfA. Leave the old RfA where it is, and if you decide to make a new one, the new title would be Wikipedia:Requests_for_adminship/Doyley 2, as explained in the instructions, here. Hope that helps! ArielGold 23:12, 22 October 2007 (UTC)

Once again, edit conflicted, follow what ArielGold says. If you were renominating an article for FA or the like then the previous answer would work. The instructions on the relevant pages should usually supply you with the appropriate information. Sorry for the confusion. Woodym555 23:14, 22 October 2007 (UTC)
Hee hee, no worries Woody! It wouldn't have been a huge deal, and that's actually not a really obvious thing, so no problem! And you'd figured it out right away, so not a problem! ArielGold 23:26, 22 October 2007 (UTC)

Image source problem with Image:Skew bridge.jpg

Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Skew bridge.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the GFDL-self tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as article name or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 12:08, 23 October 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI 12:08, 23 October 2007 (UTC)

Image question

The problem with the image is not the copyright. I'll believe you any day when you say it's that old. The issue is that you didn't provide a source (aka said where you got it from). That's probably easy enough to fix. - Mgm|(talk) 18:16, 23 October 2007 (UTC)

 • Looks fine now. - Mgm|(talk) 19:30, 23 October 2007 (UTC)

Skew bridge photo

Hi Doyley

You do need copyright permission for the photo. You seem to have used it before you asked me for permission. I will reply to your recent email when I have considered whether it is appropriate to approve use of any other pictures Dww —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dww664 (talkcontribs) 20:18, 25 October 2007 (UTC)

That Bridge Again

Hi

You can use it. But please put a link to the Rainhill Civic Society web pages.

By the way, I'm not sure that your comment about the Mental Hospital being demolished to make way for the Scott Clinic is strictly accurate. The hospital covered a much larger area on both sides of Rainhill Road, not on the site of the Clinic.

You might like to add some citations about Rainhill history by quoting from "The Story of Rainhill" by Dr and Mrs Dickinson published by Rainhill Civic Society. Obtainable by post (email me) or for sale at Rainhill Library.
