How do you un-nominate an AFD? edit

Cheryl Kaye Tardif is now improved, the author herself is now working toward the goal of creating a good article, I believe she has come a long way towards that and has made some valid points on her User talk page. I am willing to continue working with her and now need to know how to go about possibly closing the AFD. If you know could you enlighten me? Thanx ScoPhreek 20:32, 5 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

I've now been working pretty closely with the author, what else would you suggest that we do to the article? (Constructive critisism please) She may be nonnotable in our areas but apparently is making a name for herself in Canada, so I guess the question is, "Is she a notable person in Canada?" I have no idea, but, I do know that there are articles on a lot less notable people here at wikipedia and they get to stay so ... (shrug) ScoPhreek 03:22, 6 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Linda Trimble edit

Hi. Not sure if you are watching the debate but I think you might want to reconsider your vote on the AfD for Linda Trimble. There is actually only one book and not five which she has authored. Thanks. Pascal.Tesson 13:50, 12 August 2006 (UTC) No it is of course the right Linda Trimble! The problem, as I explained on the AfD page, is that she is not the author but the editor of those books. Which is a very very different thing. Cheers. Pascal.Tesson 14:40, 12 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Chiricheppu edit

Good thing that you put this up for deletion. S.Jithesh who is the editor of that magazine has created an article for himself and is on a campaign put up his name in various lists. I don't think he is notable and my queries to other Malayalam editors got similar responses (Wikipedia_talk:Notice_board_for_India-related_topics/Kerala#S.Jithesh and this. )

This person or his suspected sock/meat puppets have been adding his name everywhere - see [1], [2], [3]), removing posts questioning his notability ( [4], [5]) and arguing for him ([6]).

IMO, this looks a delete now. I'll wait for other people's comments before adding mine, and if this gets deleted, I will nominate S. Jithesh too. I won't be surprised if many 'new' editors appear to comment on this Afd. Tintin (talk) 06:02, 13 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Tirlannon edit

Your choice of words regarding the Legacy of Tirlannon has offended me deeply. There is *no* vanity in the work I have set out to do. I have chosen the route of independent publication, because I find the methodology of the traditional press sickening. I have never once received a rejection letter for any of my submissions. I have chosen the route of independent publication at this time to protect my rights and interests.

It is not a vanity publication. It is not something I seek glory in. I haven't even published it under my real name. I do this because I have had a vision, and I wish to tell everyone who will hear what I have seen...

It was not even my choice to have a wikipedia entry added. It was one of my fans who wrote it up, on his own initiative.

Talk:Triaria/De claris mulieribus edit

Copied from above Hi, This is the basic citation for the Boccaccio ref in the Triaria article. It would unbalance the article to include it in te article itself but putting it on Wikibooks makes the linking cumbersome. I initially put this on Talk:Triaria, but that's not really what talk pages are intended for. So I felt a sub-page was the neatest solution. Dlyons493 Talk 09:27, 8 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

I understand your reasoning, but "cumbersome linking" is not a good reason to use this solution. You were probably not aware of this, but making subpages in main article space is not allowed (see Wikipedia:Subpages), and is supposed to be impossible anyway (not your fault that you could do something that is supposedly impossible). So I fear that you will have to link to some outside source anyway (wikibooks or another). Fram 09:36, 8 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
I'm sorry, I have to CSD these per Fram. Could this not be included as a reference in small text at the bottom of the main article? Not sure what an alternative solution would be. Sorry. Let me know if you want it userfied -- Samir ???? 11:19, 8 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for uploading Image:SuzanneDoppelt.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.

I've added the "{{prod}}" template to the article Social activist, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and "Wikipedia is not for things made up in school one day"). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, or, if you disagree with the notice, discuss the issues at Talk:Social activist. You may remove the deletion notice, and the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached, or if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria. As a result of discussion on the village pump and mailing list, bots are now allowed to edit up to 15 times per minute. The following is the new text regarding bot edit rates from Wikipedia:Bot Policy:

Until new bots are accepted they should wait 30-60 seconds between edits, so as to not clog the recent changes list and user watchlists. After being accepted and a bureaucrat has marked them as a bot, they can edit at a much faster pace. Bots doing non-urgent tasks should edit approximately once every ten seconds, while bots who would benefit from faster editing may edit approximately once every every four seconds.

Also, to eliminate the need to spam the bot talk pages, please add Wikipedia:Bot owners' noticeboard to your watchlist. Future messages which affect bot owners will be posted there. Thank you. --Mets501 00:56, 22 February 2007 (UTC) Reply

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:42MaMSaintRomainlePuy.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:42MaMSaintRomainlePuy.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion.
