Copyright material

Hi,

I refer to your reverts hours ago on Swire Properties and your comments here.

Although it's detrimental to see my efforts being washed away like that, I would like to understand about various issues involved, including copyright, commentary and advertising.

I received Swire Properties' Fact Sheet from a friend of mine working there as well as taking reference from The Chinese version of Swire Properties Wiki Page. I agree with the copyright issue and will seek written consent from them, or I will rewrite the copy myself to prevent plagiarizing. would that be better?

Though I do not agree with the commentary, advertising part. Quote:

Please do not add commentary or your own personal analysis to Wikipedia articles, as you did to Swire Properties. Doing so violates Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy and breaches the formal tone expected in an encyclopedia. Thank you. Dl2000 (talk) 22:31, 25 August 2015 (UTC)

Information icon Please do not add promotional material to Wikipedia, as you did to Swire Properties. While objective prose about beliefs, organisations, people, products or services is acceptable, Wikipedia is not intended to be a vehicle for soapboxing, advertising or promotion. Thank you. Dl2000 (talk) 22:31, 25 August 2015 (UTC)

Would like to see concrete examples from my copy to how you perceive commentary and advertising. Thanks.

Thanks DI2000, let me work on refining the text, but I would appreciate it if you revert my text rather than the whole sections. Some content are really original.

Ad article Stefan Reif: Why are you changing to a previous version which has almost only dead links and is less informative and gives on the other hand a full date of birth, which can be misused? Disruptive Editing & putting wrong information on wikipedia

Dear user you are continuously harming wikipedia by disruptive editing and roll back you are alos putting false information on his lordship C.K.Thakker Wikipedia. You are spoiling my efforts of providing more accurate information. 1. There was no such copy right on the material as you convey in the message. 2. Changing the heading " Early Life & career " with education and carrer does not make any sence. 3. You removed his educational achievements from this section. 4. You also put fake and wrong information about Justice C.K.Thakker by stating that " Thakker was appointed as Part-Time Lecturer in Law in Sir L.A. Shah Law College, Ahmedabad, in 1970 and continued as such until he was elevated to Judge of the High Court of Gujarat on 21 June 1990"

However the reliable sources say his lordship was contributed in various services which was mentioned by me. You are requested to revert edit by your self in this article of Justice C.K.Thakker and stop threatning about blocking on wikipedia.  There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. Thank you. Priyadarshivishal23 (talk) 05:42, 27 August 2015 (UTC)priyadarshivishal23

RE: Hello, I'm Dl2000. I noticed that you recently removed some content from The Day of the Jackal (film) without explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; I restored the removed content. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. REPLY: Hello Dl2000, Strange, when I look at the revision list for that page I can clearly see that my alteration was accompanied by the notation of it being related to "tidying mess". I made that correction to remove a line of gibberish that appeared at the top of the page, which is something you would not have seen because I fixed it. And I was not "experimenting" as you have so arrogantly put it. So, thank you for being both blind to my notation, and also an arrogant know-all. In the future it would be helpful if you tried to refrain from poking your nose in where it is not necessary. Itiskenz (talk) 02:09, 29 August 2015 (UTC)itiskenz

Hi, I am the one who did the editing of Ulrike Haage's wiki page. I did the editing in correspondence to her German wiki site. I did an update and some minor content changes which I found necessary. Can you explain why both my attempts where deleted. I thought Wikipedia is an open space for everyone to edit by guidelines, which I thought I did. If I did something wrong, please tell me how I can avoid the same mistakes next time. I still want to add new material and information about her.AufErsuchen (talk) 09:34, 1 September 2015 (UTC)

British English

Hello. Please forgive me if this is a stupid question but it's in an area with which I am not fully familiar.

I was admiring your campaign to add British English tags to articles. These seems like a very good idea. (I speak as someone who has spent years changing "tire" back to "tyre" in the Concorde crash article, and is officially sick of it!)

The only thing I wondered was whether in tagging these articles you also include the question of whether the article is already in Oxford spellings (organize etc) or not. Is there a way that this is also encoded in the template?

Sorry if this is obvious and the answer is right in front of me but if so I have not yet seen it!

Thanks and best wishes DBaK (talk) 13:16, 6 September 2015 (UTC)

Hi, I gather you didn't read the directions on the page you changed. I realize that ordinals are not generally used in dates, but the problem is, that is the way the Admiralty issued the clasp, and we are trying to keep the clasps accurate. Regards, Acad Ronin (talk) 02:42, 7 September 2015 (UTC)

are you new to Bose film article

I think you are new to Wikipedia, for your information, there will be no references included in the plot section of a movie article, the article is very well referenced from The Hindu, The guardian, and BBC etc. If the subject dealt with in the article is a biographical or a science fiction, and if the film is ten year old, long plots are accepted. Please dont edit articles for the sake of it, and just to show domination. Arichuvadi (talk) 16:51, 19 September 2015 (UTC)

I am curious to know why the dates in the reference where changed around ?. The original format was as supplied by the National Library of Australia - are they wrong of is it just another WP foible ?Henry Sowerberry (talk) 00:52, 27 September 2015 (UTC)

Took another look; things like titles and quotations should stay intact in a reference, but the items involved seemed to be publication and access dates which should consistently follow MoS (otherwise, different references would become a hodge-podge). The "(1917, January 13)" item is particularly not supported as a publication date by MOS:DATE. Dl2000 (talk) 17:53, 27 September 2015 (UTC)

Confusing, as I use references form Trove (a National Library site) quite often. It does have the option to export citation information in Wikipedia format but this format still shows dates (both article publication dates and dates of access)in the format of Day Month Year. Can you direct me to more info on MOS ? Thanks Henry Sowerberry (talk) 06:02, 28 September 2015 (UTC)

@Henry Sowerberry: Regrets for the delay - forgot to see there was a need for follow-up. Anyway, got a chance to look at Trove and it is quite interesting to see the WP citation option there. It seems to generate citations that are in good conformance with the {{Citation}} and {{cite news}} as appropriate, indeed a very useful service by Trove. For further info on Wikipedia's MoS in general, please see WP:MOS. Dl2000 (talk) 15:54, 4 October 2015 (UTC)

That could take a book in itself, but generally spellings and wordings in keeping with most of the British Commonwealth, use of India-specific terminology such as crore numbers. Not sure what is meant by "compared to a native English user". Dl2000 (talk) 04:06, 9 October 2015 (UTC)

Galileo = GALAXY. Named by him. Earth and other planets Is solarsystem...GALAXY = Universe circles around the Earth.

You think you know more than Galileo to say he was wrong about the tides?.

You are the ones who are wrong, He was talking about the UNIVERSE.

Maybe I have not all the badges and edits, but I have the knowledge and understanding of LOGIC. YOU SITE BOOKS FROM THE 20 century when you criticise The man, but did you read the originals?.

Can you fix Galileo or unlock it please?.

" The Dialogue Concerning the Two Chief World Systems (Dialogo sopra i due massimi sistemi del mondo) was a 1632 Italian-language book by Galileo Galilei comparing the Copernican system with the traditional Ptolemaic system. It was translated into Latin as Systema cosmicum[1] (English: Cosmic System) in 1635 by Matthias Bernegger.[2] The book was dedicated to Galileo's patron, Ferdinando II de' Medici, Grand Duke of Tuscany, who received the first printed copy on February 22, 1632.[3] In the Copernican system the Earth and other planets orbit the Sun, while in the Ptolemaic system everything in the Universe circles around the Earth"

Thanks. Undolie (talk) 19:35, 10 October 2015 (UTC)

I did not make any recent edits to Galileo Galilei to change any text, especially concerning tides, just cleaning up a few missing parameters in the existing references. Raise this matter at Talk:Galileo Galilei. Dl2000 (talk) 19:44, 12 October 2015 (UTC)

Anil Kumar Kohli - Contest for Generation of Notability & Orphan Tags

This page is not unambiguously promotional, because neither it is intended to promote any person or entity nor any organization he is/was linked with; as the person has retired from his services and does not gain by this article. The notability of the article has been questioned by a Wikipedia agent and more data is requested for backing the biographical content. The display message read "BRIT is notable, and has its own article, but Anil Kumar Kohli isnt nearly notable enough for this. No reputed sources found which actually discuss Anil Kumar Kohli or anything categorically about him. They only contain his bytes in former capacity of CE". In this view, I may question Wikipedia to establish notability of the page dedicated for its founder Jimmy Wales as majority of his discussions are in his capacity of Wikipedia founder only. In India, reaching the position of Distinguished Scientist is very rare and only possible when someone has dedicated his/her entire efforts to develop or initiate work that has major societal deliveries and relevance. The vision of Dr. Anil Kumar Kohli was very strong and was aligned to make a country like India self-sufficient in the area of nuclear medicines, by which many poor people are benefited who suffer from very serious diseased conditions like Cancer. His work is not a direct delivery to the public and cannot be compared to a politician or an actor but has significant weightage to support a biographical article here. He has been listed in "Marquis Whos Who" in "Science and Engineering" and hence is really credible. Please remove the notability and orphan tags from this page and if you need anymore clarifications, kindly write to me in my talk page Thankfully, Sbatdaeindia — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sbatdaeindia (talkcontribs) 10:41, 16 November 2015 (UTC)

Use New Zealand English

Hi there, thanks for tagging all those WPNZ articles with 'Use New Zealand English' etc. I thought I'd point out that the thing that should come at the very top of an article is a hatnote. So if you find one, you might as well stick those tags underneath it if it's not making your process any more difficult. Good on you for doing all this work! Schwede66 05:05, 2 December 2015 (UTC)

Mission Africa (TV series) More Sources tag

Hello, just checking in, you added a more sources tag to the article. And I was wondering if there were any specific parts that you believed required more sources? I think the information from The Gaurdian articles provided a decent amount of information on several episodic plot summaries. I could keep delving. I believe there are summaries via BBC1 and their past schedules around the web. If there are specific areas you could point to, that would be a major help. Thanks for reading and I give you my best!

Hello,

The "halteres" page is my first wikipedia page edit, so I'm sure I must have missed something, but I was just wondering why you restored the "This article has multiple issues." box after I fixed all of those issues. Thank you,

Alex Yarger (talk) 15:35, 14 December 2015 (UTC)

@Alex Yarger: After review, the issue about there being just one source was removed as there are now several sources. However, the lead still seemed a bit long and detailed when it should be a summary. Also, there are still numerous passages without citations, so will need further review and work to ensure there is no original research remaining. Dl2000 (talk) 04:45, 15 December 2015 (UTC)

Fr: Ruckermisikir2 re: Henry Cele

I received your message. I had written a brief bio of the great Henry Cele in Wikipedia, nobody cared to do it before now. And now there is a flurry of activity on Henry Cele as far as the Wilipedia goes. I had reached out about the head shot that was deleted to see if I could find the owner. Next thing I know, someone accessed the page re-wrote it. They wrote a negative news report that was not proven to be true. I pulled that down and flagged the page to be watched. Just like copyright is important, so is accurate information that can be proved to be true. As a genealogist, I am committed to truth and accuracy. I keep things simple. I will be revisiting the page and keeping a close eye on it. Mbunda

Hi Dl2000. Please check article history and editors involved before assuming bad faith. Before I started working on this artticle it used to say that the Mbunda people are mythical descendents from Egypt and Sudan, they were one of the greatest and most powerful and most populous nations in Africa, ..... The author/ editor is a WP:SPA who faked 70% of the sources and the rest of the sources are works commissioned by a cultural-political organisation overseen by the Mbunda authorities. The editor himself is the Chairperson of the organisation. We allowed him plenty of latitude, given his obvious conflict of interest, but despite reminders and warnings, he kept working his own way until eventually he was blocked indefinitely. MOS:RETAIN

I see you are imposing national varieties of English on very many articles, possibly with WP:TIES as a rationale. You are incorrect to do this, because MOS:RETAIN says, "An article should not be edited or renamed simply to switch from one variety of English to another." Please stop and revert yourself. You should seek WP:CONSENSUS before making such changes, and you should do it as incidental to making other constuctive edits to the articles in question. Elizium23 (talk) 01:25, 1 January 2016 (UTC)
