Doubt edit

Hi, seeing that you recently created Doubt (film), can I invite you to visit the future films department of WikiProject Films? There are some guidelines on how to structure a film article, especially a future one there. Let me know if you have any questions about the process! —Erik (talkcontrib) - 04:57, 31 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

I noticed that you have not edited a user talk page at all (see mine), and I was wondering if you needed some guidance about communicating with other editors. I would suggest that you take a look at the talk page guidelines, and to start you off, just click [edit] to the far right of the "Doubt" section heading and leave a comment right below mine. You can sign your comment using four tildes (~). I'll see it and respond to it. —Erik (talkcontrib) - 15:36, 31 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
Djbj16, can you please read the above messages? I noticed you created In the Electric Mist without the full tagging. Please leave a comment here if you want to respond to me. —Erik (talkcontrib) - 01:00, 11 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Djbj16, could you please respond to my above comments here? I just wanted to inform you about laying out the new film articles. —Erik (talkcontrib) - 17:39, 17 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Whew! :) Good to be in touch with you. I just wanted to say that I appreciate you starting these film articles, especially since they've begun filming. I just wanted to let you know how you can tag them appropriately in terms of templates and categories. You can leave a signature by typing four tildes (~) at the end of your comment. I suggest taking a look at WP:FUTFILM to see the process of how to "set up" articles on future films. If you have any questions, ask me. I've set up some of the articles you've created, but I want to leave some so you could do the set up yourself. —Erik (talkcontrib) - 20:29, 17 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
Hey, when you create a new article, can you go to its talk page and add {{Film|class=Future}} to it? For example, go to Genova (film) and click the "discussion" tab at the upper left, which will take you to Talk:Genova (film), where you can add the code. —Erik (talkcontrib) - 23:04, 21 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

WP:MERGE will help you! I'll let you read up to understand what you have to do, but if you have any questions, feel free to ask. —Erik (talkcontrib) - 00:34, 23 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Appaloosa (film) edit

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Appaloosa (film), and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0800308. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 16:05, 24 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Expanding articles on upcoming films edit

Hey, how are you doing? I wanted to say that I appreciate the work you've done in creating articles about upcoming films and wiki-linking to them from the cast and crew's articles. I was wondering if I could guide you to take a step further and seek out production details for the articles. The Production section is one of the primary sections of any film article, and it's good to get a start on one with a new article. This way, you can encourage content specifically for that section and not just a Trivia section. For example, I just expanded The Soloist with some Google searching. A good way to find coverage about an upcoming film is to refer to Variety. If you type in something like site:variety.com "the soloist" "jamie foxx" in Google, you can get related results to incorporate into the article. Would you be interested in learning how to do this? I'd be happy to help. Just drop a message on my user talk page! :) —Erik (talkcontrib) - 20:47, 8 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

The difficulty with IMDb -- in relation to upcoming films -- is that it is somewhat like a guarded wiki where we can't tell how the gatekeepers know the information is accurate. It's been noticed, though, that the cast and crew information are repeatedly inaccurate early in the development and production of a film. (Though it gets more accurate closer to its release due to general publicity, we usually prefer to cite less dubious sources. For example, the New York Times will outline the cast and crew information in a review. I suppose for early on in a film article, it's more of a hodge-podge of various references in which it's clear that a person is cast in the film. Using other references sometimes gives a better idea of that person's role, because sometimes IMDb can mix up the stars with extras with no way to tell who has the major roles. I tend to prefer All Movie Guide for crew information, but there's not really a specific reference that I use for the cast. They're usually mentioned in references I use for production, so I duplicate the tag to use in the Cast section. —Erik (talkcontrib) - 22:41, 11 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Future class edit

Well done to remove the tag from films as they are being released! I am hoping that the Future films department of WP Films will eventually be able to compile a full list of all of our Future-Class films for this purpose. However, might I also ask that if you're going to take the time to remove the old tag, you could quickly peruse the article and give it a reassessment on the normal scale? It should take less than a minute. Many thanks, Girolamo Savonarola (talk) 03:51, 23 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Copying and pasting from other websites edit

Please do not add copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder, as you did to Ghost Town (film). For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. Please do not copy and paste text from other websites, such as you did with the plot section of Ghost Town (film). Doing so, is a violation of copyright. BuddingJournalist 21:49, 3 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

It looks as if you have done this with other plot sections as well. Please revisit the articles on films that you have created or have contributed plot to and remove copyright violations from IMDb. BuddingJournalist 21:49, 3 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Re: Two Questions edit

  1. I think that website would be fine; just make sure that it includes the alphabetic range, like p-r at the end of the URL http://www.sundance.org/festival/film_events/alphabetical.asp?alpha=p-r so it should be fine. You may want to check for secondary sources about the films to make they meet notability guidelines for films. Some films may be too minor to warrant much coverage and never be seen again by anyone else.
  2. You can't create restrictions, but if you see that anonymous IPs are vandalizing an article, you can file a request for page protection at WP:RFPP. However, if the vandalism is periodical, it may be best to just revert the vandalism. —Erik (talkcontrib) - 21:00, 16 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Request for help on Swing Vote (2008 film) edit

Hello, I saw you've previously edited the article about the upcoming Kevin Costner movie Swing Vote and was wondering if you could make a small addition: the article is missing the name of the studio, Touchstone Pictures. This definitely belongs in the infobox on the "distributor" line, and probably also in the first paragraph. For verification, see the note I placed on the movie's talk page. I would do it myself but Disney, Touchstone's parent, is a client of my employer and I probably shouldn't per WP:COI. Any questions? Feel free to get me on my talk page. Another Swing Vote (2008 film) request edit

Hi there, saw you updated the page over the weekend. If it's not too much trouble to ask, there are a few other places where the page could be updated.

  1. The MPAA rating is PG-13
  2. Robin Jonas should be removed from the list of producers.
  3. The official site is http://www.swingvote-themovie.com.
  4. The synopsis could be expanded; here's the official one, which you can adapt as need be:
Swing Vote follows the story of Bud Johnson (Kevin Costner), an apathetic, beer-slinging, lovable loser, who is coasting through a life that has passed him by. The one bright spot is his precocious, over-achieving twelve year-old daughter Molly. She takes care of both of them, until one mischievous moment on Election Day, when she accidentally sets off a chain of events which culminates in the election coming down to one vote... her dad's.
Swing Vote is a comical look at the journey of one father and daughter who discover that everyone has the power to change the world.

All of this info is available on the official site linked above. Thanks! NMS Bill (talk) 17:19, 12 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Veronika Decides to Die edit

I believe this may be the reason Veronika wa shinu koto ni shita 2005 known internationally as Veronika Decides to Die that the editor who started the article opted for the 2009 title .

There appears however to be no immediate prospect for an article on that version since the movie is not available with English subtitles .Garda40 (talk) 20:15, 2 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Re: The Hollywood Reporter edit

I don't subscribe to it, but I do have access to its database through my university account. The author is Gregg Goldstein, and the date is March 27, 2008. There are a few other THR articles, too, if you want me to provide the important details from them. Just let me know -- I'm happy to help! —Erik (talkcontrib) - 00:41, 27 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Future films' release dates edit

Hello, you may be interested in the future films department's tracking process. This allows us to track and close out "Future-class" articles... usually reassessing them as "Stub-class" or "Start-class". Proposed deletion of My Own Love Song edit

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article My Own Love Song, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

fails WP:FILM

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Samuel L. Jackson filmography edit

Hi, I saw that you removed some of the not yet created films from the filmography section of Samuel L. Jackson, since then I have created Samuel L. Jackson filmography, at over 100 films, I felt it could stand alone. Anyway there are a couple that are on the new list that you had removed from the old list (I had included them and had citations before you had removed them), anyway you may want to take a look and add and remove as appropriate. Cheers. --kelapstick (talk) 15:42, 5 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Oh and I forgot to mention, you may or may not have noticed that I replaced the existing table with a {tl|main}} template to the filmography article. --kelapstick (talk) 15:44, 5 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hi edit

I can't remember if I have told you this, but even if I did, it bears repeating. There are very few editors whose edits on articles I trust and don't feel the need to check when the username shows up on my watchlist. You are amongst the ones whose edits I trust completely. GA reassessment of Kevin Spacey edit

Middle of Nowhere (film) edit

You may want to update your link from Middle of Nowhere (film) to Middle of Nowhere (2008 film). The move was made because there is now a Middle of Nowhere (2012 film).
