Correction to Alayna Everett

Hi Dina, Hope you're fine. I just want to thank you for removing the rubbish! Thank You Logan

Correction to outliner software

Unless you know something specific about outliner software of which I'm ignorant, I believe you were wrong to revert my correction. "Principle" and "principal" are homonyms that are often confused, but "principal" is the adjective, so "Principal Attribute" would be correct. I considered that there may be in fact be an attribute of outline software called the "principle" so that a noun would be modifying another noun as in "card table". But I couldn't see anything to indicate that it was meant this way so I assume the conventional adjective form is needed.

REVERTION OF THE LIST OF THE METROPOLIAN AREAS OF MEXICO

Hello Dina , Hope youre fine, i removed the second list of the metropolitan areas of Mexico for the inaccuracy of the content of the list. The veracity is not based in the last 2005 list of the INEGI www.inegi.gob.mx wich is the organization in charge of the geographical and statistics matters in Mexico. I invite you to check out the web page of this Institute so you can take a look and cultivate yourself about the major GDP cities in Mexico, i think while somebody creates a new list, the current list is obsolete and out of reality, maybe was created based of regionalism. Thanks for interest and hope you keep in touch, by the way i have a wikipedia account (raveonpragha) unfortunately the english page requires an english account, but i guess my IP is already registered for future things. I usually colaboatete with information and organization of themes in the spanish page, hope you keep in touch and now you know my account name for anything you need. Thank You Roberto Maya

REMOVE TOTALLY OF AN ARTICLE

Dera Dina, i didn't know who was the indicated person to contact in this case, when i removed alitle part of an article you contacted me, so i realize you were the one i suposed to let know about this. Somebody removed totally an article about the second most importanta cities in the world, the article was named: "Second Cities" I had a very important work to do for school, and Surprisingly and unfortunately the article was not here anymore, it was there 1 week ago and that was a very important and informative article. By any chance do you know something about this? Cuase there's not even a discussion section be cause the aticle is totally erased. Thank you very much Dina Robert Mayan

HI DINA: HOW ARE YOU, I VE FOUND THE ARTICLE SOMEBODY CHANGED THE NAME,NOW IT IS Second City I REALLY THINK THE ARTICLE SHOULD BE PTROTECTED AND LOCKED FOR THE VANDALISM, CUZ THERE WILL BE A LOT OF PEOPLE WHO WILL WANT TO CHANGE THIS IMPORTANT LIST BE CAUSE OF THE REGIONALISM THAT IN THIS KIND OF LISTS IS USUAL, THANK YOU DINA. YOU ARE VERY KIND FOR ANSWERING ALL THE TIME. Robert Mayan

Thanks for fixing the Lititz entry. That was, in fact, vandalism that was not done by me. The Bath entry, however, was not vandalism. I have reverted the Bath entry to the last edit.

Test 2 warning

Hi, I was wondering how to post the "test 2 warning" on the user who once again vandalized the Harold Lloyd page [1]? He's done it several times now, and I think he has no intention of stopping - he's also vandalized the Charlie Chaplin page about two times. He signs in under slightly different IP #s every time.

I have no experience with repeat vandals, so I was wondering what I should do to get him to stop. Thanks for your help. Esn 07:06, 31 October 2006 (UTC)

But the user also keeps changing the title of the documentary from "The Third Genius" to "The First Genius", despite the IMDB link that I posted right near it. Also, in this edit to the Chaplin article (see the edits in the last paragraph) he just randomly switched names around and removed words, to the point that some sentences stopped making grammatic sense. Reversion

Hello! I just reverted a BlogSpot link, as per WP:EL. I think your bot caught my reversion and accidentally left a warning on my page instead of the vandal's. Would you be able to confirm this and leave me a message on my talk page? Thanks! :) thadius856talk 01:47, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

Stop your revert-vandalism

Your revert is entirely unwarranted, your methods unsound and unjustifed, and your wanton removal of content also qualifies as vandalism.

  1. I have merely added in good faith a notable item to dab page Alice, and provided a verifiable source of WP:NOTABILITY for it since it's currently a redlink (diff)
  2. This was part of an ongoing verification/dab/cleanup of the list of manufacturers and urls at mixing consoles.
  3. The URL I provided for verifiability/notability was clearly tagged as <!--REDLINK SOURCE-->, so you have no plausible denial for calling me a spammer.
  4. My edit summary was crystal clear too since it was the full text of my addition (diff), so you have no plausible denial for calling me a spammer.
  5. If you disagreed with the verifiability source being a visible URL, you could have easily turned it into a hidden HTML comment for editors only -- even though that's much less practical both for readers sent there for this item and hitting a redlink dead-end, or for editors looking to stub redlinks.
  6. Your reverting my edit wholesale (instead of amending it) deleted entirely my addition, thus you knowingly removed useful content from the encyclopedia, which also qualifies as vandalism -- you do not have the right to revert or delete content wholesale because you object to a part of it, that's throwing the baby with the bath water.
  7. Furthermore, your citing WP:EL [2] is unjustified wikilawyering, because this policy applies to regular articles' "External links", not to a verifiability/notability source added to a dab page for a redlink.
  8. Before calling me a spammer, you're supposed to check my edit history to see what my edit is part of, and see how wrong you are -- such as my cleaning up actual spam, or fixing the Alice Soundtech you later deleted from the dab, or creating a whole article, or removing actually useless URLs, etc.
  9. You have thus violated both WP:REVERT : Dont's and Wikipedia:Assume good faith -- whilst assuming good faith on your part, despite your having no plausible deniability whatsoever, would at best mark you for criminal incompetence in the use of reversion.

Thus, your revert is entirely unwarranted, your methods unsound and unjustifed, and your wanton removal of content also qualifies as vandalism. You really have no excuses whatsoever and you're a waste of everybody's time.

Please do not remove content from Wikipedia. It is considered vandalism. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you.

-- With profound disgust at stupidy and wasted time, 62.147.39.202 03:56, 2 November 2006 (UTC)

62.147.39.202, maybe you should write the article about Alice Soundtech before doing all this promotion. You could then establish this notability you are bothering Dina about and then it would be much less likely that someone will revert you for spamming. DVD+ R/W 04:36, 2 November 2006 (UTC)
I'm not doing any "promotion". As explained above, and as clear from my edit history:
  • I was cleaning up the list of manufacturers at mixing console, fixing the wrong link for Alice mixers from Alice (dab page) to Alice Soundtech (full corporate name and currently redlink).
  • And then adding Alice Soundtech to the dab page at Alice, which is normal since Alice is a big/old/notable enough company that 1) Someone will create its article one day, 2) Plenty of people will still wrongly link to Alice, even when the article will exist. In the mean time, a redlink on a dab page need to provide notability/source link to justify being there as a redlink. Basic dab work. All destroyed by an incompetent who can't tell an article from a dab page, can't check an edit history, doesn't know the basic rules about reversion, yet still throws the baby out with the bathwater like nobody's business.
  • Besides, if I was "promoting", I *would* write them a stub, instead of just dropping a dab item and its source. It was just collateral work from my cleaning up the mixing consoles list, itself a collateral work from my having Phonic moved to Phonic Corporation and then cleaning up its "What links here", which led me to the list on mixing consoles, which sorely needed dab/fix/cleanup.
  • And I'm not the one bothering Dina, she's the one bothering me during my work, because she can't be bothered to read WP:REVERT before reverting and removing content from the encyclopedia. You're defending someone who broke the rules and removed content from the encyclopedia, against a victim editor.
-- 62.147.39.202 05:01, 2 November 2006 (UTC)

A simple solution. I've created a stub Alice Soundtech article, ready for it to be sent to Afd. If it survives, it's notable. If it's not notable, the article and dab link should both go. --Dweller 10:11, 2 November 2006 (UTC)

Brilliant solution, whatever the outcome of the AFD! Funny thing is, I have no special interest in Alice (which is why I just drop them in the hellpit of a dab page, instead of aiming at making an article for them), and yet I'll now have to do some notability googling about them in order to put my dollar where my mouth is. But yours is a constructive and objective solution. Constructive because it doesn't just blindly delete information, but encourages creation and research instead. And objective because it's not just one deletionist who decide to remove information from the encyclopedia based on whim or ignorance, but a peer review at AFD that'll decide if said creation can stay. Controlled creation instead of uncontrolled destruction. -- 62.147.86.249 10:50, 2 November 2006 (UTC)

Revision to Lord of the Flies

In the page Lord of the Flies, Golding emphasizes to an extreme the importance of samneric, rather than Sam and Eric. I feel that this should be noticed in the title of the Sam and Eric (twins) headline. You reverted it. If you could take this into consideration this would be greatly appreciated.

Ah, now that's lovely

Thanks very much for your kind message. Feel free to steal any good ideas I come up with... it'll be a long wait til the next one. --Dweller 08:35, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

Hello, I recently removed a phony picture of the Langston Hughes from the Afican American Lit page, which you reverted back. If you visit Langston Hughes wikipedia page, it is easy to see that the picture on the African American Lit page is not of Langston Hughes. Langston Hughes is clearly a black man, whereas that picture is of a vey different looking white man. I apologize for not leaving a comment, and thank you for giving me information on correct wikipedia ettiquete.

Help

I am a fairly inexperienced user and I have a few questions I have to ask.

  • How do users normally talk back and forth. Is this the correct channel? I hope so.
  • How did you find my article on Bob McLean so quickly? This happened a few months back, too.
  • I was frantically trying to correct my capitalization, not having a clue even where to begin. In the meantime, you fixed it for me. I'm sure it says in the manual, but it might take me another day to find it.
  • I now have several totally unrelated pages linking in to this article now. How does that come about? How is it averted or fixed? I have seen this and fixed a few pages manually.

Oh, please help.

Thanks for your feedback

Thanks, Dina

I found the list of new articles. It is staggering how many are being generated. And none of them look to be of any interest to me, nor anything I would ever read or understand. My world is a very small corner of the universe.

If I understand you correctly, there are now new pages, named differently, but with the same content? How would that affect pages linking in? For example, I link to Vancouver, which happens to be the city that I speak about. Let's say that someone comes and either renames it to Vancouver, BC, or disambiguates it. Does the link on my page follow or does it have to be adjusted manually? This is how I'm not clear on renaming vs creating a new page with a different name. Obviously, we don't want the same content duplicated.

I probably would not have otherwise taken on the Bob McLean, but I ran across a reference to his name in another Wiki article. That, and the fact that he is almost now forgotten except for those of his generation, made me feel obligated to take on some research.

I will make it a point to get all of the links sorted out as time permits. I have now learned that the categories are totally automatic, it's just a matter of finding the correct ones.

Doing a search for Bobby McLean turns up nothing, so it would be perhaps appropriate to add a redirect? How would that tie in with disambiguation, should it go that route. Is disambiguation needed if there are currently no other Bob McLean? Perhaps I'm asking the same question again.

I have a really great picture that would go along with the article just great. The trouble is that it's been used everywhere and I don't know whether it's public domain or whom to ask to have permission granted. It would be good to have a good-quality near original. Who knows how many times a given occurrence of the photo has been edited and re-saved.

One last question (and sorry to take up your time): do people normally use the tool bar on the edit page? I have been generating the content in my OpenOffice editor (as I am doing now) and then copying it over to the edit window. It thinks four tildes needs to be a horizontal line.

re: Courbert and Moshe Safdie

It's Colbert not Courbert :-) Thanks, I like that picture too, I used to have a copy of it in my dorm room. I wonder who the two dudes are that Courbet is talking to. Make the Moshe Safdie article for sure, I'll give you feedback and help if I can. I know his Habitat '67 building best but am now looking into some of the others. The Harvard one looks good, somewhere between the Hirshhorn and some things by Tadao Ando whose names I forget right now. I really like the Cambridge campuses, maybe though I like the Carpenter Center more, but since you are getting married at this one I'll change my mind. Many congratulations on getting maried! Don't worry about architectural terms, use your theater ones - education, religious, or business ones would also apply for this. I'm sure your architectural terms are fine though. Let me know when you've started, and if you have any other pictures from around there, like I said I like the area, so I'd like to see them too. The only Carpenter Center one we have is at night, we have some good ones of MIT buildings already. I pulled my Arbcom bid because it started to make me squirmy- I just didn't feel comfortable, oh well. DVD+ R/W 03:58, 18 November 2006 (UTC)

well.....

where's the article? DVD+ R/W 02:27, 21 November 2006 (UTC)

Yes I saw, I already told you that. I especially like the garden. In the article make sure you mention the part in the Mcgill archive about the 1927 master plan by McKim, Mead and White and the commission of Safdie to complement it. Also you can probably find this building in one of the books about Safdie. DVD+ R/W 03:02, 21 November 2006 (UTC)

I don't think there are too many pictures. Make sure you create a gallery or a category for them at the Commons. Does build the article this weekend mean you will expand it more? It looks very good, I think you should, then send it to WP:PR, and WP:FAC. If not that much, expand the sections and include one about the tower and the garden. Have you ever sent something to DYK? Here's where you enter it Template_talk:Did_you_know#Candidate_entries, if you want to do this and need any help let me know. I'll think about pictures of buildings in Boston, right now I have too many articles in my userspace that are half-translated. Oh, the ICA Boston by Diller + Scofidio. Get pictures of that for sure, I'll try to think of more later. A lovely thanksgiving to you too. DVD+ R/W 07:00, 24 November 2006 (UTC)

Yes, you have to "know" the fact :-) I replied about the jelly fish on the Commons, maybe you can get another picture? I used to bring articles I wanted to translate into my userspace once I found them, now I keep a list off wp because I keep finding them and getting bogged down. Re: Marc Lepine vandal

Hi-

The Marc Lepine vandal is still acting up, I've reverted the page five times today >..< (which makes me feel like an asshole but I digress). I tried submitting the situation to AIV but an admin removed it, saying "I don't think this belongs in the AIV" or somesuch. (I rather think that he did a very cursory inspection of the situation and thought it was a content dispute rather than vandalism.) Could you advise on what I should try to do next to get the situation rectified?

Thanks.

Re: Marc Lepine vandal

Your feminist prejudicial editing, and that of GhaoticGhost violates the published POV policy of WP. You revert to misandrist prejudicial language and statements, refuse to use the discussion page to discuss changes, and attempt to browbeat other editors into submission. Your misandrist bigotry is offensive and uncalled for, as is your heavy handed refusal to discuss needed changes for POV neutrality. You and the "ghost" are the vandals. Ghost has violate the 3revert policy with impugnity. Is that because her bigotry agrees with the bigotry of the WP management. Frankly, I'm tired of the vandalism of the page done by ChaoticGhost. If she has a problem let her discuss it on the discussion page. Your revert vandalism is no better. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.82.9.61 (talkcontribs) 08:31, December 1, 2006

Laguna Beach Article

Hello, I noticed you did a reversion on the Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County article. I'm ending up having to police this article because User: Breannarox likes to add biased content based on an agenda made fairly clear by her user name. Just wondering if you could throw it on your watchlist and keep an eye on her edits since you appear to be a responsible editor. If she keeps doing this it's going to be a pain for me to do alone. No pressure. Thanks, --Tractorkingsfan 19:08, 2 December 2006 (UTC)

Hey, thanks for getting back to me. The issue with this user's edits centers on the character of Breanna Conrad (who she's clearly a fan of). User: Breannarox pretty much likes to put information on the page about how much Breanna rocks, one of her edits told a fairy-tale like story about how Breanna "was just a normal girl" until cameras changed her life and whisked her away to fame and fortune. Apparently Breanna Conrad had a sort of rivalry with another character, Tessa, whose paragraph the user blanks and replaces with "Tessa won't be shown on season 4." I don't know, it's not like blatant threatening vandalism, it's just irritating because the article is already not that good, and every time I turn around the user is back with the same stuff. I left one message to no avail, and my second message has not been replied to. So, any help would be appreciated, but it's not that big a deal. --Tractorkingsfan 19:19, 2 December 2006 (UTC)
