- Hello Kvng,
- I am a bit confused. Two highly decorated scientists, Harwood G. Kolsky and Richard A. MacKinnon (source [1] in my article), publish a detailed report in IBM's Systems Journal about the Scientific Centers of IBM and you seriously doubt that did these centers even exist within IBM?
- One of the authors was in a senior position at the Palo Alto Scientific Center for many years and the other was even director of the Cambridge Scientific Center. Albrecht Blaser (source [2] in my article; with link to the full text), also a highly respected scientist, was the head of the IBM Scientific Center Heidelberg for many years. I myself worked there from 1982 to 1990, first as a research staff member and then as head of the 'Advanced Information Management' department before moving to the University of Ulm as a full professor and head of the Institute for Databases and Information Systems (https://www.uni -ulm.de/en/in/iui-dbis/institute/staff-overview/alumni/peter-dadam/).
- The review process described in my article is IBM internal knowledge and one cannot expect to find an external publication which addresses this point.
- Why IBM Research doesn't mention a word about the IBM Scientific Center is probably related to their self-image they are (and were) the only true institution for research in IBM. Why the Scientific Centers don't appear in the IBM history is a bit strange, but could have similar reasons. Since the websites of the IBM Scientific Centers no longer exist, the existence of the Scientific Centers could only be indirectly substantiated by references to scientific papers in which they appear in the author information. Please let me know if I can do anything to help this article to get published. Dbisian (talk) 14:58, 19 June 2023 (UTC)
- I'm not suggesting it doesn't exist. I'm saying there are not enough WP:RELIABLE sources presented here to write a competent article. We need to find some WP:SECONDARY sources reporting on the centers. WP:PRIMARY sources from IBM or its employees aren't going to provide a WP:NPOV. ~Kvng (talk) 13:07, 24 June 2023 (UTC)
- Hi Kvng,
- I understand your concerns about accepting this post and have therefore invested some time in finding further evidence of the existence of the IBM Scientific Center. It should be noted that the IBM Scientific Centers are of course called differently in the respective national language and usually appear in the press of their country under this local name, which makes the research a little more complicated. Below are the first results of my research with the request for feedback as to whether I should provide further evidence of this type in order to enable you to accept the article.
