Welcome! edit

Hello, Davidtownsendjones, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited was Jonah Jones (sculptor), which appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms of use and our policy on paid editing.

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Again, welcome!   — Jeff G. ツ 13:45, 3 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

The article was edited by Jonah Jones’s biographer, Peter Jones. My role was limited to uploading his edits, a task for which he lacked technical skills. I don’t agree about a conflict of interest, because I was only a tool and not the originator of any of the content.
I have submitted Peter Jones’s edits in full as a draft (User:Davidtownsendjones/sandbox/Jonah Jones). I am unable to identify in his edits any issues of subjective opinion that merit independent corroboration. His edits are neutral and objective. They adjust and expand the existing article, which, as I recall, was created in 2010, to make the Wikipedia article factually consistent with the biography published in 2011 and a book of letters by Jonah Jones published in 2018.
(For the record, the original Wikipedia article was posted in 2010 by a former colleague of mine who had just left a senior position at Ask Jeeves UK to join the Skype UK team. Unfortunately I am no longer in touch with him, otherwise, as he is plainly better suited than me to interacting with Wikipedia, I would have asked him to take on this revision instead of me in order to avoid any perceived ‘conflict of interest’.)
My username does not imply that my account belongs to a company. I am, by the way, a retired freelancer.
I am not in employment or self-employment and receive no remuneration from anyone. Since retiring from paid work in 2014 I have continued to practise professionally on an unpaid basis. For the record, all seven board members of Scene & Word Ltd, of which I am one, serve as volunteers and receive no remuneration. They hardly would, as it happens, as the annual turnover is less than GBP 5,000! --Davidtownsendjones (talk) 12:26, 6 March 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Davidtownsendjones: Thank you for your response and clarifications. I have reformatted your response to be one contiguous message. Per WP:BOTTOMPOST, we prefer that talk page responses be posted at the bottom of the topic under discussion, so the conversation can be presented in the correct chronological order. As well I have indented your response per WP:THREAD, to enchance its readability. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 14:26, 6 March 2020 (UTC)Reply
