Who's your Mommy?

edit

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Who's your Mommy?, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of Who's your Mommy?. Members Church of God Edits

edit

I noticed that you have on several occasions reverted pages related to Members Church of God. The content that you find objectionable is legitimate and documented as pertaining to the legal difficulties of the group and its leader. While it may be embarassing to members of the group, it is appropriate content for the page, and it is written from a neutral standpoint. Flagging a user for vandalism is also not appropriate when the page was clearly not vandalized. In order to avert an edit war, I felt that I should contact you directly first. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.212.206.99 (talk) 20:46, 4 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hi, Darwin! As a member of Church of God International headed by Eli Soriano it may be a good idea to refrain from making large POV edits to the Eli Soriano article. Such edits would constitute WP:COI and could lead to your being banned from editing the article altogether. Also, self-serving statements issued by Soriano himself or his church don't qualify as reliable third party references according to WP:VERIFIABILITY. Thank you. - Shannon Rose (talk) 15:37, 15 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Fair enough! Tag the statement as unsourced and after a week or two, if no one will oppose it, I will remove that part. I have noticed that a number of claims are unsourced, tag all the unsourced claims you can find. - Shannon Rose (talk) 19:41, 17 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Uh, I'm not a member of the Members Church of God International. The only reason why I defend this article because I don't like false facts. Dar book (talk) 11:29, 18 June 2008 (UTC)Reply
Hello, you have already admitted your membership in Members Church of God International in my talk page when you replied my 15:37, 15 June 2008 message here to you (kindly scroll up a bit and review it) with "I understand that" on 11:55, 16 June 2008. That line alone ("I understand that") clearly constitutes admission of every point I raised. Then, two days after you wrote that admission, you have decided to deny your membership for obvious reasons. Please do not insult the intelligence of other WP editors. Just a friendly reminder, a religion that forces you to a corner where you have to resort to lying, upon reflection, may not be the kind of religion that you really wanted to be in. - Shannon Rose (talk) 18:11, 19 June 2008 (UTC)Reply
It seems that you have removed my comment to you eh? Let's just be freinds okay. I'm only 14 years old. Do you have a Facebook account? Dar book (talk) 08:17, 22 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

You are far from unbiased Dar Book, and your recent edits do not "prove" you to be so as you claim. Please do not insult my intelligence by suggesting that you are not an MCOG member. It is obvious that you are, as your comments are seldom, if ever, neutral, and always serve to advocate the positions and status of the church. Any inquiry by WP into your posts would indicate this. If you are not a member "on paper", then you are simply playing semantics, as you are an outspoken advocate for the group. Please also do not suggest to me that an edit war is something that I should be concerned about, as each of the edits I have made to this page are clearly neutral and encyclopedic, and I will continue to act in this fashion. Edits are not made or avoided because another user might not like certain information being shared - that is something the MCOG can do on its own web site. It is you who should be concerned about an edit war - if your pattern of adding unverifiable content, and removal of factual and encyclopedic content continues, it is likely that you would be barred from further edits to the Members Church of God page. I do monitor this page as it is clear that members of the church would use it as propaganda were they allowed to. Absurd, undocumented claims are frequently made, as well as legitimate content being removed. 50%quick (talk) 14:41, 20 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

I admit that I am an outspoken advocate for the group but yet what is wrong with my edits, i'ts best that we remove the sentence in the particular article which we are fighting about. Also, somebody added a citation needed to the sentence which I didn't remove. I'll try my best to be neutral. Dar book (talk) 10:29, 21 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Piece of question, you said that you, with the teachers, made the logo. This is made as in designed and created from scratch, or you made it in the computer from a preexisting logo (digitised)? Because if it is a logo then the school and/or the government (republic of the Philippines) is/are the owner of the copyrights of the logo, and only they have the right to release it to public domain. Unless they actually did release it to public domain, the liscence tag in the image is flawed. -- Felipe Aira 11:00, 5 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Unlike other schools, the MSHS can be released free from the school's computer IT section. Which means it is under public domain. Dar book (talk) 01:39, 19 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Eliseo Soriano

edit

Hi. I would like to explain a couple of things about the Eliseo Soriano article to make sure that you understand what is meant by some of the phrases. These are subtle matters which might easily be misunderstood by if you are not a native English speaker.

  1. We say "rape case" not "alleged rape case" because the case is real, not alleged. There actually is a court case about this. This does not mean that Soriano is guilty. The rape itself is only an allegation so it is correct to say "alleged rape". Despite this it is not correct to say "alleged rape case". I have corrected the title.
  2. I think you may have confused the words "fond" and "fund". "fond of criticising" means "likes to criticise". "funds criticism" means "pays money for criticising". "Fond" has nothing to do with money. Despite this, I am not going to put "fond" back in because it is unnecessary and your wording is simpler, more neutral and less likely to be misunderstood.

Hi, CheckUser confirmed that you recently created a sockpuppet called Defenz 07 and used it to make extreme POV edits to the Eli Soriano, Ang Dating Daan, Members Church of God International, and related articles. Aside from that you also own a host of other accounts. I will be very kind to you this time, cultic-brainwashing is hard to fight and sometimes even requires the assistance of a professional therapist. But the moment you do anything again to manipulate those and other related articles, I am going to report you for indefinite blocking, and make sure that no matter what computer and username you use you won't be able to edit WP ever again. Please note that your Good Morning Kuya spam has already been deleted. I urge you to stop using WP to promote your fugitive criminal religious leader and his numerous businesses. – Shannon Rose (talk) 14:32, 11 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks you for your kindness. I'll be dormant for a while about the three articles, yet why did you delete the Good Morning Kuya article, it is true and ask somebody about it. Spam in Itanong mo kay Soriano

edit

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Itanong mo kay Soriano, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Itanong mo kay Soriano is blatant advertising for a company, product, group, service or person that would require a substantial rewrite in order to become an encyclopedia article.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Itanong mo kay Soriano, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. December 2008

edit

Please stop. If you continue to violate Wikipedia's no original research policy by adding your personal analysis or synthesis into articles, as you did to Ang Dating Daan, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Telebisyo.com discussion forum entries and Yehey.com blog posts violates WP:RS, which clearly states that "Reliable sources are credible published materials with a reliable publication process; their authors are generally regarded as trustworthy or authoritative in relation to the subject at hand." The author of your Telebisyo.com discussion forum entry "reference" is anonymous and the author of your Yehey.com blog post "reference" calls him/herself "Popz Cooler". By using such things as reference you are, in effect, destroying the credibility of WP. If you can find articles from reputable newspapers or respected third-party websites that support your original research then your edits will be most welcome. – Shannon Rose (talk) 18:50, 29 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Inquirer.net is a relialbe source, you rejected it. So what if it doesen't mention the "ang dating daan" name, it's an obvious parody. Anyway, it already non-promotional information. Stop belittleling (sorry if my spelling is wrong) Philippine-related articles as unnotable. Like you previously did to Daniel Razon and Good Morning Kuya. Dar book (Complains?) 08:36, 30 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Inquirer.net is indeed a reliable resource but the particular Inquirer.net article that you used as reference never mentioned that the Ang Dating Doon segment is a parody of Ang Dating Daan (which is actually the point of using a reference). In fact, the name of the program Ang Dating Daan cannot be found anywhere on that Inquirer.net article. Therefore, it does not qualify as reference, not because Inquirer.net is not reliable, but because the idea that you're trying to convey is not supported by the article. Dar book, it is actually you who is bellittling Philippine-related articles by your reckless and uneducated editing. If you truly value Philippine-related articles then you should be extra careful not to destroy their quality and credibility. Also, since you are editing the Tagalog Wikipedia, may I suggest that you begin creating a Tagalog version of the English WP articles on Eli soriano and Ang Dating Daan? If you don't do it, someone else is going to do it sooner or later. The information on the different language versions of WP must match (or at least approximate) the best and most comprehensive article, which in the case of Eli Soriano and Ang Dating Daan happens to be the English version. – Shannon Rose (talk) 20:23, 30 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
At least I don't keep adding {{db-spam}} to articles that looks promotional and unfamiliar to me. I'm not that reckless, you only think I'm reckless because our opinions about the articles abouve do not match. You don't like unsourced information, but I can't do anything because I can't find a THIRD-PARTY, reliable sources. Probably because nobody is interested in writing about the articles above in their well-known magazines. (I've been searching for a reference about the # of members but can't find references that match WP:RS). It's obvious that your not a Filipino, because you don't know the Philippine Web Awards and probably you don't know AnakTV Awards (don't worry, ADD shows do not win there). I hope you can know more on these award giving bodies, so that (I hope) you stop questioning their reliability. Dar book (Complains?) 05:49, 31 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

The Bereans

edit

I did some research and I have to agree with you that it is only this Bereans website that is openly labelling Soriano's group as a cult. Who are these Bereans anyway? They are completely unnotable and I am yet to encounter anyone who actually belongs to this anti-cult group? Chances are they are also a cult group, or even a ghost religion (one that exists only in the Internet). I don't think that articles from the Bereans website qualify as reliable third-party published source as per WP:RS. If you remove all the Bereans references in the Ang Dating Daan article and replace them all with citation needed tags, we can probably remove all of those unsourced statements within a month's time. It is unfair to use critical quotes from websites of other religious organizations because of the obvious bias. Quotes should be either from notable newspapers, magazines and books (self-published books not included). As I will never use articles from Soriano's website(s) to criticize, say for example, the Baptist sect, I would also not use articles from a Baptist website to criticize Soriano's sect. The rules must be applied to all for the interest of fairness and equality. – Shannon Rose (talk) 23:34, 24 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

File source problem with File:MCGI_central.jpg

File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:MCGI_central.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 06:43, 4 August 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Bluemask (talk) 06:43, 4 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

My edit was not vandalism, I just added some teachings of the church, some referenced information and added a no official count on the Members section of the said article so that other users won't enter unreferenced member counts anymore. Dar book (Complains?) 06:39, 25 December 2009 (UTC)Reply
In that edit you have added unreferenced information, namely: "There is no official count of members," "Members are required to attend Prayer Meetings during Wednesdays, Worship Service during Sundays and the Pasalamat," "The service involves singing hymns, reading the bible, hearing sermons directly from Eliseo Soriano or Daniel Razon," that Daniel Veridiano was an excommunicated member when he filed the rape case against Eli Soriano, that the 2005 lawsuits came from excommunicated members of the cult, etc. (Incidentally, people who willfully left the cult to form their own group or to affilliate with another religious organization are not and cannot be excommunicated members.) You are adding original research, which is directly against policy. Also, the so-called "referenced information" you have placed there is backed-up by a tabloid article written in Filipino language with no available English translation. How would non-Filipino speaking readers, which make up the majority of WP readers, know if your translation and interpretation of the article is correct? That reference may be perfect for the Tagalog Wiki; and I suggest that you put that there instead. – Shannon Rose Talk 20:45, 26 December 2009 (UTC)Reply
And who told you that persons like Daniel Veridiano "willfully" left the church? Are you being told that they left the MCGI willfully? Also, one of the references for the bus rides is written in English! Stop trying to create reasons just to nullify the usefullness of the said references. And then you claim that your not Anti-Soriano, then why do you keep trying to accuse EVERYTHING positive (e.g. awards and praises) about Soriano/Razon as self-serving and doubtful. As what you have tried to do in the Daniel Razon article, I still doubt that you are here just to improve the article... Dar book (Complains?) 10:37, 7 February 2010 (UTC) (You are obviously being influenced by those organizations that are against MCGI because you try to create every reason (and loopholes) just to deny the awards they get as unnotable/unreferenced/untrustworthy since you claim that the award-body is owned by Soriano , claim that Daniel Razon is unpopular and that the sect is a 'cult' with only 1 tabloid article to back your opinion (about the cult-calling). Dear Dar book,

Greetings!

As a Filipino Wikipedian, I hope you are aware of the passage of Republic Act No. 10175, also known as the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012, which was signed into law by President Benigno Aquino III on September 12, 2012. Currently, there is a discussion on the Tambayan, the noticeboard for Philippines-related topics, about a proposed blackout of the English Wikipedia in the Philippines in order to protest the passage of RA 10175, similar to the blackout against SOPA and PIPA held earlier this year. I feel that your input on the subject will definitely help in the discussion.

Please feel free to participate in the discussion at Wikipedia talk:Tambayan Philippines#The Cybercrime Prevention Act, and I hope your input will help the Filipino Wikipedia community determine which is the best course of action against this law. Similarly, we hope to get as much input from as many Wikipedians as possible.

Thank you and maraming salamat po!

Kind regards,

ArbCom elections are now open!

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. 2019 US Banknote Contest

edit
  US Banknote Contest
November-December 2019

There are an estimated 30,000 different varieties of United States banknotes, yet only a fraction of these are represented on Wikimedia Commons in the form of 2D scans. Additionally, Colonial America, the Confederate States, the Republic of Texas, multiple states and territories, communities, and private companies have issued banknotes that are in the public domain today but are absent from Commons.

In the months of November and December, WikiProject Numismatics will be running a cross-wiki upload-a-thon, the 2019 US Banknote Contest. The goal of the contest is to increase the number of US banknote images available to content creators on all Wikimedia projects. Participants will claim points for uploading and importing 2D scans of US banknotes, and at the end of the contest all will receive awards. Whether you want to claim the Gold Wiki or you just want to have fun, all are invited to participate.

If you do not want to receive invitations to future US Banknote Contests, follow the instructions here
