How to contribute to BTS V's page?
editHi Nyantatata ^_^,
I've just read your message at my Talk page. I'm glad you appreciate my small effort. However, I am super new at Wikipedia, yet I would love to contribute on BTS V's page. I believe I have lots to contribute though, but the thing is I didn't know how. Is there anyway I can help? Thanks again. :)

Love Yourself: Tear
editHi. Per your edit summary on Love Yourself: Tear, there is no guideline or policy on WP that states that we cannot place citations in the lead, just that it's redundant to as the lead primarily functions as a summary of the rest of the article and the material is sourced there; "The presence of citations in the introduction is neither required in every article nor prohibited in any article" (WP:CITELEAD). As you moved the source to the infobox, just note that some users prefer to avoid placing citations there as well. Just letting you know, because you seemed to be quite set in this belief. Ss112 07:54, 25 April 2018 (UTC)
- @Ss112: Thank you for letting me know! I'm still learning, I was told by another user they were not permitted. I still think it's preferable to not have them, especially for things like dates that always show up later in the article. If someone would like to remove the citation from the infobox they're always free to! Nyantatata ^-^ (Say hi!) 12:37, 25 April 2018 (UTC)
Face Yourself riaj cert ref
editHey I had already included a ref to the RIAJ cert page w the update for FY in the Sales table but you removed it completely and inserted a duplicate citation for it in the Cert column you added. Why didn't you just move my pre-exisiting ref to the new column? The dupe cite doesn't make sense. - Carlobunnie (talk) 19:56, 9 May 2018 (UTC)
- @Carlobunnie: Hi, when albums, songs, etc get certifications we use the sales and certifications chart template instead of a normal chart for sales. The chart/template has some limitations which includes auto-generating a citation through information provided by the mandatory fields. I actually tried preventing this and using your citation as well as removing your citation and having the auto-generated one be used everywhere on the page... unfortunately, both are impossible and thus we have to have a duplicate citation. This is a common issue across many music articles I've noticed.
- Thank you for all your help updating and improving BTS-related articles, especially removing unreliable sources. It really is a huge help! Nyantatata ^-^ (Say hi!) 20:13, 9 May 2018 (UTC)
- @Nyantatata: Ah I see. I have no problem with the table needing to change since there's a specific template to include the certifications, just didn't realise it would mean a possible conflict with the way citations would have to be used. Thanks for explaining to me! - Carlobunnie (talk) 20:20, 9 May 2018 (UTC)
Some tipps
editPs bts debuted on the 13th not 12th I hope you can change that ASAP thank you Hello, I recently saw that your goal is to get the BTS article to GA. I already saw to things that need to be addressed.
1) Date formats should be consistent. 2018-05-12 doesn't work and don't mix 22 May 2017 with May 22, 2017 as an example. I already corrected some of the sources and used the american format.
2) Non english sources need the |language= parameter. Good Luck ^^.--Lirim | T 10:19, 11 May 2018 (UTC)
- @Lirim.Z: Thank you for the tips! I'll definitely work on fixing them! Nyantatata ^-^ (Say hi!) 04:10, 12 May 2018 (UTC)
Baidu/thequoo sources
editThose citations that you removed from the discog section, do you know where the users who uploaded the chart info onto those sites would have gotten the original sales info from? I only know they were supposedly oricon numbers (as I didn't contribute those links I never paid much attn to them tbh). I'm tempted to hunt around and see if I can find anything to use in place of them for the numbers they were "supporting" but Oricon only goes back so far, there are most likely limited BBJ sources available, and I don't know where else exactly I should look. Got any ideas? - Carlobunnie (talk) 19:58, 12 May 2018 (UTC)
- @Carlobunnie: Looks like Oricon sales. I'm also currently hunting for alternate sources to support those numbers. If I recall, Oricon releases its full information through a subscription service (similar to how the US has Billboard Biz) and I believe the baidu/thequoo sources are illegal reposts of that info. Right now I'm looking through Oricon and BBJ through Google custom search, since they both publish articles about their charts and will occasionally put in sales numbers. Another thing I've found useful is looking through Naver with specific Korean keywords since there's almost always an article somewhere on there with the info needed. As a last resort I'll go to those English k-pop news sites since half the time they'll actually cite the source they took the info from and it's usually a Naver article, and I'll just cite that. That's all I've really got unfortunately. If you can speak Chinese or can navigate an auto-translated web page better than I can, it may be useful to hunt around on that Oricon baidu site and see if they state where their information comes from directly. Nyantatata ^-^ (Say hi!) 21:37, 12 May 2018 (UTC)
- @Nyantatata: Yep, full Oricon charts are through a paid sub. I couldn't recall seeing any Naver articles about the jpn performance of Youth etc. which is why I didn't go look first before asking you, but the album is almost two years old so maybe my memory is just bad. I'm currently looking through as well to see what I can find since BH's protocol usually is to post an article or two about an album's perf. I don't speak Chinese but I have a few translator friends I can ask for help searching. Hopefully between the two of us (or anyone else who might be looking) we'll find something! - Carlobunnie (talk) 21:53, 12 May 2018 (UTC)
- @Nyantatata and Carlobunnie: Hello all, I happen to come across this talk page and I was hoping to help you two. I can read Chinese and from what I saw from the Baidu Tieba (linked above), it was all illegally reposted, by screenshotting the members-only page. But I'm afraid I can't catch up with your conversation here, how can I help? –Wefk423 (talk) 17:07, 14 May 2018 (UTC)
- @Wefk423: We were just talking about finding actual reliable sources to back up some of the numbers for the Jpn albums sales figures, but iirc Nyantatata found what she was looking for because she added some new oricon links to replace the baidu/thequoo sources that were there before so I think everything's good now? Unless Nyantatata thinks additional sources are still needed? - Carlobunnie (talk) 14:42, 17 May 2018 (UTC)
Hello
editI was wondering if you could help me with something. I wish to know how to got a bigger image for Jessica's CLEO magazine shoot? I am the user who uploaded the original image and source, but I still don't know how to change image sizes and crop them here. I only joined a few days ago so I'm not sure if it's something obvious OTL Jesstan01 (talk) 22:48, 16 May 2018 (UTC)
- @Jesstan01: Hi! Welcome and thanks for helping out! What I did was actually download the video at 1080p, then went into Photoshop to extract the specific frame and preserve the quality. You would do that by going into Photoshop after downloading the video, then going to File > Import > Video frames to layers and selecting the part of the video you want to turn into an image. Each frame will now be a layer, so just click through them until you see the one you like, delete all the other layers you don't need, and save it as a PNG. I recommend against just screenshotting the video cause it comes out small, and if you look at a screenshotted video from YouTube, you'll see a shadow caused by YouTube's video player on the bottom. I noticed you uploaded another photo of Jessica from Dispatch, I could replace it with a bigger one for you if you'd like!
- Cropping information is here. If the image needs review, crop it first and then put the review template on. It'll block cropping if it has an unreviewed image template, which is annoying.
- I also noticed that you put the license review template on the image, thanks! Just as another thing, YouTube as a license-specific template. The code is
{ {YouTube CC-BY}}
(remove the space) and you would put the template in by clicking "Another reason not mentioned above" when you upload a YouTube screenshot.
- If you don't have Photoshop but have images you'd like me to upload for you, you're welcome to message me here or on Commons! Thanks for finding so many nice pictures of Jessica! Nyantatata ^-^ (Say hi!) 01:22, 17 May 2018 (UTC)
- @Nyantatata: Hi! Thanks a lot for explaining it to me in so much detail. I actually wanted to make that picture her main one but it was too small so I left it. Thank you for changing it! ^_^ And yes, it would be nice to have more pictures of Jessica, but unfortunately all of her fansites have All Rights Reserved, so Dispatch videos are probably where we're gonna get some nice new images from >.> And omg it's so sweet of you to offer to do that. I do not have Photoshop, so I just might take you up on that offer! And thank you so much for liking Jessica <3 Jesstan01 (talk) 17:52, 17 May 2018 (UTC)
Camila Cabello
editHello! Noticed you made revisions to Camila Cabello which included removing instruments from her infobox. I left this information in the edit summary but thought to post it here in case you aren't watching that page: An exhaustive discussion was already had by editors regarding her instruments and the conclusion reached was that the instruments listed (which you removed) should all be there. You can check that out here. Also, please note going forward, if you'd like to remove or add any instruments, you need to raise the discussion on the talk page and reach a consensus. Cheers! Alolanle (talk) 06:49, 6 June 2018 (UTC)
- @Alolanle: The discussion is still open and always will be. There is no a "conclusion" as you say. Literally there were only two users deciding if your edits were valid or not. I told you that any user could remove it per Template:Infobox Musical Artist#Instrument and because you have added your edits without waiting for more users input on the article's talk page. Best regards. --Miaow 13:28, 6 June 2018 (UTC)
- Of course @Miaow: they can remove it -- after joining the discussion and reaching consensus, just as I said. If you think my edits were disruptive or didn't follow the proper protocol, then you can report me. I'm simply letting this user know the way things stand, so they can avoid a warning if they don't follow the steps. The discussion is open - as you said, so they can join in! Thanks for your concern :) Alolanle (talk) 15:24, 6 June 2018 (UTC)

BTS China sales
editHello, could you kindly explain why did you remove BTS China sales as per y.qq.com or http://zhuanji.kugou.com etc as unreliable, when these are used in many other wiki pages (Such as "best selling albums in China")? Kleool (talk) 06:08, 17 July 2018 (UTC)
- @Kleool: I'm not sure why they're used on other pages, though unreliable sources can pop up on any Wiki page. Upon relooking at the sources, Kugou is fine since it's a Chinese music streaming app, and only things cited from QQ Music are allowed. QQ is a social media site and screenshots of sales aren't permitted. DanielleTH (Say hi!) 03:28, 18 July 2018 (UTC)
- @DanielleTH: y.qq.com is official site of QQ Music streaming service (as per https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/QQ_Music ), not a social media site in this case, tho? Kleool (talk) 06:40, 18 July 2018 (UTC)
- @Kleool: QQ is a social media site. QQ Music is a streaming site and is fine. However screenshots posted onto QQ regarding sales are not allowed. Actual numbers from QQ Music that are displayed on the page officially are fine. DanielleTH (Say hi!) 22:08, 18 July 2018 (UTC)
- @DanielleTH: then i'm still confused why you removed the china sales, because all the refs - kugou, kuwo and qq music are the service's own shown information, not screenshots. Unless you have any other reasons deeming them unreliable, besides being "screenshots", which they aren't, please, put back the information you removed. Thank you Kleool (talk) 03:49, 19 July 2018 (UTC)
- @Kleool: I removed them causes I deemed them unreliable, and then I took another look at them and as long as they're numbers from the service and not screenshots then they are fine. You can put them back if you like. DanielleTH (Say hi!) 16:41, 19 July 2018 (UTC)

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 17:19, 20 August 2018 (UTC)
BTS (band) - Debut date change
editHi there! I recently made an edit to the BTS (band) page per a request to change the date of debut to June 13, 2018. You can see the [discussion about that topic] on the Talk page.
I noticed your edit this morning reverting the language due to the questionable reliability of Metro as a source, which is really helpful, but I wondered if your only objection was to the source, or to the change of debut date as well since you removed that language? I just wanted to make sure I understood the concern, and if the language needs to stay reverted to the June 12th date, then we should probably go back into the Talk page and mark the OP's request as not done.
Here's a revised version of the edit with a more reliable source:
On June 12, 2013, they performed the song "No More Dream" from their first album 2 Cool 4 Skool [1] and commemorate their debut on June 13, 2013 with an annual "Festa" celebration [2].
What do you think? Thanks! Fleep (talk) 15:11, 27 August 2018 (UTC)
- @Fleep: Yeah, my issue was the Metro source and I couldn't find a reliable alternative. I personally have no issues with the date change given the sources you provided, thank you for finding them! My only question is if whether or not the Festa is worth mentioning in the lead. The lead is incredibly long as it is and needs a trim, and I feel the Festa isn't notable enough to be mentioned in essentially the summary section. Maybe it can be added in the body somewhere (like mentioning the first Festa and then noting that it became a yearly thing, or mentioning original music that was released during the Festa and then explaining what the event is), though I feel like it could also fall under fancruft. DanielleTH (Say hi!) 17:21, 27 August 2018 (UTC)
- @DanielleTH: Got it, thanks! I pulled out the mention of Festa per your suggestion. Fleep (talk) 18:25, 27 August 2018 (UTC)

BTS IDOL
editwe need put again the most viewed music video in the first 24 hours, it's BTS- IDOL and u delete it Eliane mickle (talk) 19:05, 27 August 2018 (UTC)
@Taeyam: @Eliane mickle: The source that cited it was unreliable, it cited a screenshot. It's been re-added now that a trustworthy source, Billboard, confirmed the number. For future reference, I suggest looking at edit summaries. DanielleTH (Say hi!) 19:25, 27 August 2018 (UTC)
Everyone who was following the video up until the 24 hour count ended, saw it was 56.2 million views. The news announced it, and ut was everywhere.I dont see how Billboard is a more thrust worthy source then any kind of tv news and online news.I beg for the numbers to be changed and i hope Billoboard will realise their mistake soon. DGureva (talk) 07:18, 28 August 2018 (UTC) First of all BTS reached 56.2 milion views in 24 hours I even have then picture. Please stop taking views down when their fans were trying so hard to reach that. I think you should fix your misktake.
- @DGureva: I have to follow Wikipedia rules... I'm not the person you should be upset with. The only source that reported it was tabloid sources like Metro (not trustworthy) or people who reported live numbers. Per Wikipedia rules, I have to go with the number being supported by reliable sources, such as Billboard, Forbes, etc... the number reported by these outlets is "over 45 million". I would love for the number to be confirmed as 56.2 million but that isn't the number YouTube released. I have to follow the numbers YouTube released, not what is reported by people online due to live view counters. DanielleTH (Say hi!) 12:32, 28 August 2018 (UTC)
Draft:Jin (singer) update
editHi, I hope you're having a good day/night!
The Jin draft was finally rejected, after I left a talk. Simply put, I disagree with the judgement of his notability, for he has been singled out by himself by sources including Grammy and Billboard. He has made appearances on a few individual shows, and I cited sources, and reviewed notability rules, especially other rules about re-doing deleted drafts, gah! (The reviewer even said they would accept it...?) There is valid information of news articles that have describing him as the main subject. Really, some Korean group members don't get that sort of thing from the US.
I also disagreed with their suggestion of making an info section about him on BTS's page, for that is not how it's done, right? Ah, but I'm really not sure... Although, I know I shouldn't exactly argue about his notability to you in the end, haha!
Anyways... my point is, I leave it to you...! I think my last attempt could be copying it, and submitting it again, as "Kim Seok-jin"? like you suggested/encouraged? I know that it is allowed, because its last draft was only deleted due to abandonment. I can't see how this is unmoral to Wikipedia laws, but I know that submitting the same thing to the same person wouldn't do anything.
In this way, we might get a different reviewer or A.K.A another experienced perspective, because I have no idea of what to do properly, because I feel that I already did the right thing, but was misunderstood.
I believe in Jin(haha), but it's okay if you say it to my face, if he's truly not notable after all. At least I can say I tried! (But truly, I stil want to try resubmitting.)
Thank you for your time, I know it's a lot! idkSam (talk) 06:07, 28 August 2018 (UTC)
- @IdkSam: Wikipedia notability is tricky... I get it. I agree, so maybe I'll expand it. I was going to add his numerous solo variety appearances since they're independent from the group, I just was trying to focus on the album pages right now, and also trying to get the group page to GA. I'll try and get that too! I also know when he released his cover for the Festa he got a lot of albums discussing his voice independent from the group. I personally feel this makes him independently notable (he, without a doubt, has the most solo variety credits out of everyone in BTS) so we may have to try again. DanielleTH (Say hi!) 12:35, 28 August 2018 (UTC)
- @DanielleTH: All right, great! I replied to his review, so at least I could get some pointers on what's not working, and said what I knew. I tried adding as many of those variety/hosting appearances as I knew about, so if you got more that's great! I suppose we'll find out what goes through in the end. I'm honestly just surprised that the reviewer changed their mind. - idkSam (talk) 13:25, 28 August 2018 (UTC)
BTS "Idol" Alternative track MV
editHello DanielleTH. Just a heads up that I have removed a small part your edit here as I feel like it is repetitive. editHi Danielle!!
Omg thank you so much for your message, I'm so new here I still don't know how to manage this well. I wanted so bad to create Jungkook's page because many friends ask me for him and i have no wiki to share with them where they can read about his work. November 2018
editYou currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on BTS (band). Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.
Points to note:
- Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
- Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.
If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. SoWhy 17:54, 24 November 2018 (UTC)
lay’s Article
editRegarding your recent edit to Lay (entertainer) I’d like to point out that just because one article does things a certain way doesn’t mean all articles should (GA or not). The template you mentioned in your hidden note (is that what it’s called) specifically mentions to drop the ‘records’ but does not mention any other, so I that if ‘entertainment’ were also to be dropped, it wouod mention that, too. I’d also like to point out that you were reverted, so rather than repeating the edit, you should have taken it to the talk page to discuss. Alexanderlee (talk) 19:00, 27 November 2018 (UTC)

KMCA
editHey, you seem to be a lot more familiar with this so I thought it would be worth asking you. On the KMCA website, could you explain to me exactly where I should be searching to find writing and producing credits? I’ve had a look but haven’t quite figured it out fully. Thanks in advance, Alexanderlee (talk) 07:27, 1 December 2018 (UTC)
- @Alexanderlee: First, go here. The annoying thing about their database is that you can only link the search page and not certain results. Depending on what you're looking for I suggest looking for performer and/or song name if you know it. Try Korean first, then romanized name (RR version), then English name. The song will be listed next to a big orange arrow, and the contributors will be in the table below it. Next to their name they'll be a code, copy and paste that and put it in "Writers and Publishers" to see everything they've done under any name (for example RM's code, 10003681, lists everything under RM, Rap Monster, and Kim Nam-joon). Bands
editDanielle, hi. Is there any chance you could please break up that ultra large (band) -> (group) move into smaller sections with the 3 letter acronyms HOT BTS etc. and country-ambiguous ones removed? In ictu oculi (talk) 09:19, 8 December 2018 (UTC)
- @In ictu oculi: The massive list is fairly unclear so I'm willing to do so, but I'm a tad confused about how you'd like the move broken up? Ones that have to do with countries and ones that don't? DanielleTH (Say hi!) 15:37, 8 December 2018 (UTC)
- As a follow up, here's how I'm thinking of dividing it up, In ictu oculi -- groups with three letter acronyms, groups that previously had nationality mentioned, groups that did not, and duos. If you could I'd also appreciate your thoughts on "(musical group)" on the talk page. But am I allowed to edit my initial nomination? Or is there a way to cancel the nom and do these all separately? DanielleTH (Say hi!) 00:20, 9 December 2018 (UTC)
- Yes a nom can close their own nom in a case like this. (musical group) would be no problem, though expect some won't like. In ictu oculi (talk) 20:26, 9 December 2018 (UTC)
- @In ictu oculi: So is that what you would suggest? Removing the nom and renominating with "(musical group)", with it organized based on what I listed above? Or group them all together? Thanks in advance for your help, I've never done a move request on this scale before. Further, I'm assuming I just close the nom as per usual, or are there special directions for this? DanielleTH (Say hi!) 20:31, 9 December 2018 (UTC)
- Just close as normal. The Category:Musical groups should lead to a dab (musical groups) in my view. But others will differ. Don't know to be honest. In ictu oculi (talk) 20:35, 9 December 2018 (UTC)

Most Handsome
editThis was regarding your comment about not having the most handsome in the Jungkook article
"General consensus was to not have "most handsome" award lists on wikipedia pages (it was removed for V's page as well) though I'm always open to discussing it on the talk page!"
I don't really see why this is the case. There's info about BTS achievements as a group, so I really see no problem in having their achievements individually. Plus since this is a very hot year for them, I think it is appropriate.
Anyone who disagrees please comment below, otherwise I would like to keep it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ygrhmn2 (talk • contribs) 03:10, 20 December 2018 (UTC)
- @Ygrhmn2: Hi! Please don't forget to sign your posts with for tildes (~). If you could please move this discussion to the talk page for Jungkook at Talk:Jungkook so other editors may participate, that'd be highly appreciated. Thank you! DanielleTH (Say hi!) 03:17, 20 December 2018 (UTC)
Help needed
editHello,
i hope you'll be able to help.
Anon user has been removing word "K-pop" in several places for BTS related stuff (even from article titles):
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/2601:CE:C180:36D5:1492:D9CC:9010:DB73
What to do in this case? Kleool (talk) 09:26, 21 December 2018 (UTC)
- @Kleool: Most of those are cited and if not I would just suggest undoing it, they didn't justify the removal so you're free to return it. If they undo it again tag them on the talk page (and a few editors you think may be helpful in the convo to get the ball rolling, if you'd like) and ask why they feel the need to remove it.
