editI think it should be clear by now that your adding of this article is problematic. You are not doing anybody a favor (least of all the subject of the article) by continuing adding this stuff. If you continue like this, you'll soon find yourself blocked from editing... Creating new articles is one of the most difficult tasks here on WP. Even if the text weer not a violation of copyright (which it may not be as it comes from a government website), it is completely inappropriate for an encyclopedia. If it stays up, it will be a matter of minutes before people slamm all kind of tags on it saying that it is promotional, non-neutral POV, unsourced, and whatnot. You should start with looking around at biographies of other state representatives (preferably those that are B-Class or higher) and then start working on a bio of Snyder in your sandbox (there should be a link on top of your screen going there). Once that is done, ask some experienced editor to have a look and if it passes muster, (s)he can then move your article to mainspace. Hope this helps. --Randykitty (talk) 16:47, 28 March 2013 (UTC)

Your reason here-- I am a staff person of Rep Snyder's and we are trying to update her Wiki bio... our writer from the State's Office, who is also the original author of the posted article, said that b/c the article is taken from a free public domain that it would not infringe on any copyright laws. I hope to have the block on this account lifted so that we can properly add bio information for the Representative. If the orignial bio will not be accepted, then I will be sure to provide an update bio, correcting the inital problem. This is my first time trying to add information to Wiki and as you can see I am having some trouble understanding how... please know it was never my intention to cause a problem.

I can see no indication that the source listed IS a public domain site. Certain US Government sites and publications are public domain, but not all. Public domain is a widely misunderstood thing. Being published by a 'public body' does not make the publication public domain. There is no copyright notice on the page cited, but then again there is no public domain, copyright free or free licensing under Creative Commons notice. In the absence of any indication to the contrary, anything published must be taken to be copyright (unless by virtue of its age it is indisputably in the public domain - like the works of Shakespeare or Charles Dickens, but not Monica Dickens). If you can produce verifiable evidence that the pahouse site is public domain, all well and good. You'll be unblocked. Otherwise, if it isn't really public domain, then tell us and offer to rewrite. - A lot of people think that any site open to free (as opposed to paid) access by the public is public domain. Not so. It's not the access that makes something public domain - it's licensing or the policies of certain US Government departments (or age, as I said). I could publish one of my stories on a wordpress page. Access would be free for anyone in the world (with computer access...). That would not make a pennyworth of difference to the copyright status. Please read WP:SPAM and WP:NPOV (neutral point of view). It's easy for people to fall into the trap of writing in the PR style, but we don't allow it even though the intentions be good. - Also, just to confirm, you weren't blocked simply because you made a mistake because you didn't know the rules. It's because you made a mistake, were informed of the rules, and then went ahead and made the same mistake again (5 or 6 times in a row). So, just to be clear, you're not necessarily blocked forever, you're blocked until we can fully understand what you're trying to do, determine if it's within the scope of what a Wikipedia article should look like, and then discuss how to move forward. The article that you tried to create, however, is not appropriate for a number of reasons, which Peridon has enumerated above. - As per our conflict of interest policy, you really can't create or edit an article on your employer. If you want to propose changes to an existing article, I'd say go to that article's talk page... but since this article has been deleted, that's not really an option. Hrm. The best advice I could offer would be to create a draft in your userspace. In this way, you can propose draft language that other editors can look at and revise. If the result is a neutral and well-sourced article that shows the subject to be notable, other editors can post it. But you cannot directly edit the article at all. I'll format a draft at User:Dana.slavic/Draft to get you going. Use {{helpme}} if you have questions. - I posted the text above and started in on formatting. You might want to consider the structure of the article - After the lead paragraph, which says why Snyder is notable, I would start with a section on Education. Then I would put her early career next, followed by a section entitled Elected Office or some such. It gives the article a nice chronological flow. It's a start, at any rate - good work.
