NPS NHL photo contest deadline extended to July 7 edit

You posted within the thread at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject National Register of Historic Places#June 30 email deadline for 2008 NPS NHL photo contest, suggesting notice was too short (which it was). But, the deadline has been extendd to July 7, i just noticed, per the NPS webpage announcing the contest. Go for it? Cheers, doncram (talk) 07:22, 4 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Jake1.gif edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Jake1.gif. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? PhilKnight (talk) 23:20, 5 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Image:Daria_and_Jane_in_Road_Worrier(ep._111).jpg edit

I have tagged Image:Daria_and_Jane_in_Road_Worrier(ep._111).jpg as {{no rationale}}, because it does not provide a fair use rationale. If you believe the image to be acceptable for fair use according to Wikipedia policy, please provide a rationale explaining as much, in accordance with the fair use rationale guideline, on the image description page. Some examples can be found at Wikipedia:Use rationale examples. Please also consider using {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags/Non-free. Thank you. Image:Lane_Family_Chaos.jpg listed for deletion edit

An image or media file that you uploaded or altered, Image:Lane_Family_Chaos.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion. Please see the discussion to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. Move to Commons edit

Hey, thanks for the message. When I am wikibrowsing, I typically check the images on the pages I look at, and if they are freely licensed, then I will move them over. Adding {{move to commons}} helps, but there is a big backlog for this. You can move them yourself, using CommonsHelper. It will move the image over to commons for you (I always use the Directly upload file (using commons user name 'File Upload Bot (Magnus Manske)') option as well, so I don't have to save the image then reupload the image onto Commons. Then you can hit Add NowCommons button and it should be cleared out a bit quicker. To see a list of all the images you have uploaded here on en.wiki, see Special:Logs. --Admrb♉ltz (tclog) 03:19, 10 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

It is not a fraud, I used it the other day... --Admrb♉ltz (tclog) 15:08, 20 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Did you create your TUSC account, and then check the box "Directly upload file (using commons user name 'File Upload Bot (Magnus Manske)')"? --Admrb♉ltz (tclog) 15:17, 20 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
You don't need to change your main password, you just need a different TUSC password. --Admrb♉ltz (tclog) 15:28, 20 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
You need to place the token on your commons talk page so that the toolserver can authenticate your account. --Admrb♉ltz (tclog) 15:42, 20 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

I do not know what other code you are referring to, I am sorry. All I did to create my account was to follow the step-by-step directions that it had me follow through. --Admrb♉ltz (tclog) 15:53, 20 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Patchogue pic etc edit

I saw your note to Ebyabe at his talk page. Indeed, it's a really nice pic!

At Wikipedia:WikiProject National Register of Historic Places#State specific sources under New York, i have written out some instructions on getting to the available NRHP inventory/nomination doc for all NYS sites. It's a bit tedious, but you can get/create a PDF file of that document, and it would provide you plenty of information to add a bit more information, in order to win Ebyabe's or anyone else's higher rating for the article. Cheers, doncram (talk) 00:32, 11 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

please immediately strike out you sentence about TTN in this discussion. It is a gross violation of WP:NPA. As yu probably know, I oppose that users habitual position on these articles, but that does not excuse your comment. . DGG (talk) 22:00, 15 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Tinely Park 80th Metra edit

Hey, I was working on the Tinley Park 80th Metra station article and saw that you had expressed an interest in working on it. I invite you to help make this article the best that it can be. I look forward to working on it with you. Happy editing! StarsTrainsAndRandomThings (talk) 02:07, 16 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Kirkwood (Amtrak station) edit

Hey Dan... was just curious how you ran across the article? I'm not complaining about image resizing or anything, it just seems a little outside of your usual (stated) interests, so I thought I'd ask (I have hometown + personal interest in that station, as my grandfather worked there for a time). umrguy42 03:07, 16 July 2008 (UTC) PS - really! no complaints, just curiosity. in fact, maybe encouragement to help with it if you can :D umrguy42 03:09, 16 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

(replied here, just.. well, cuz) You're right, I *did* miss the railroads. My bad. Anyway, yeah, the image size is good. I played a bit with it when I first uploaded it, but I didn't have huge amounts of time, so, 250 then seemed a good compromise between 200 (too small) and 300 (just a bit too big)... so, yeah, 275 seems just about right :D Anyway, all the best, umrguy42 03:59, 16 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Burr Oak Metra Electric Station edit

It is in Blue Island. The station is on the Blue Island Branch line of the ME. A good place to look is http://metrarail.com/schedule.html You can see where each station is on the line, plus it will give you the address of the station. FUR edit

= Fair Use Rationale. This must be put on the image page. See Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline or check out other image pages for examples of FUR. An essential component is a link to the article. Actually Image:Lane Family Chaos.jpg has one already. Ty 02:43, 24 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Wolf Road and Illinois Route 64 edit

Illinois Route 64 is farther north; it goes mostly west from North Avenue in Chicago. Mokena is way south of it. As far as I can tell, Wolf Road isn't signed as anything in Mokena (though it's US 6 a few miles north). Oh well, mistakes happen; you must have just had a bad map. --TheCatalyst31 ReactionCreation 02:16, 29 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hey, I had just happened to see the comment about Wolf Road in Mokena. I live a couple of miles away from Mokena, off of Wolf Road. It's just Wolf Road through Mokena. Rt 6. splits off of Wolf at ~179th street. StarsTrainsAndRandomThings (talk) 21:01, 30 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Main Street Station (Richmond) edit

The services box doesn't make the NRHP box smaller, it widens the whole infobox but doesn't widen the NRHP box. The solution would be making the services box the same width as the NRHP box. Murjax (talk) 16:52, 31 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Second Annual WikiNYC Picnic edit

Greetings! You are invited to attend the second annual New York picnic on August 24! This year, it will be taking place in the Long Meadow of Prospect Park in Brooklyn. If you plan on coming, please sign up and be sure to bring something! Please be sure to come!
You have received this automated delivery because your name was on the invite list. BrownBot (talk) 20:01, 13 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Too bad you're off in the distant land of out-of-town; I'll be at the picnic and chattering with fellow shutterbugs and whoever. Two weeks ago I was late for a party in New Hyde Park but stopped for a few pictures of Elmont and Stewart Manor. Deciding there wasn't enough time for a pic of the station, I unfolded the bike (seen in the grade crossing pic) and pedalled north and got a somewhat acceptable one of NHP station which is still in the backlog of processing jobs. Alas, I had too much fun at the party and only hit the road at sunset so didn't have enough light for pix of Floral Park and other lesser Main Line stations on my way back to Jamaica. I intended the Covert grade crossing pic for the Stewart Manor station article and chickened out because the station was beyond view around the bend, but if you think it will do for awhile in the station article, we'll see if I can arrange another photo expendition to the eastern suburbs before days become too short. Not in August, for sure, various places in Joisey and elsewhere having priority. Jim.henderson (talk) 17:59, 15 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

NY 59A and NY 107A edit

Per the 59A article, I sort of wish you hadn't moved it out of article space yet. I wasn't done. And for 107A, this is marked near Merrick Road, not near Glen Cove.Mitch32(UP) 16:18, 26 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Not sure about 107A, I saw it in a news article, I will have to look up more info.Mitch32(UP) 16:32, 26 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Oxford Wikimania 2010 and Wikimedia UK v2.0 Notice edit

Hi,

As a regularly contributing UK Wikipedian, we were wondering if you wanted to contribute to the Oxford bid to host the 2010 Wikimania conference. Please see here for details of how to get involved, we need all the help we can get if we are to put in a compelling bid.

We are also in the process of forming a new UK Wikimedia chapter to replace the soon to be folded old one. If you are interested in helping shape our plans, showing your support or becoming a future member or board member, please head over to the Wikimedia UK v2.0 page and let us know. We plan on holding an election in the next month to find the initial board, who will oversee the process of founding the company and accepting membership applications. They will then call an AGM to formally elect a new board who after obtaining charitable status will start the fund raising, promotion and active support for the UK Wikimedian community for which the chapter is being founded.

You may also wish to attend the next London meet-up at which both of these issues will be discussed. If you can't attend this meetup, you may want to watch Wikipedia:Meetup, for updates on future meets.

We look forward to hearing from you soon, and we send our apologies for this automated intrusion onto your talk page!
