Speedy deletion nomination of File:Unidan.jpeg

edit

A tag has been placed on File:Unidan.jpeg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a non-free file with a clearly invalid licensing tag; or it otherwise fails some part of the non-free content criteria. If you can find a valid tag that expresses why the file can be used under the fair use guidelines, please replace the current tag with that tag. If no such tag exists, please add the {{Non-free fair use}} tag, along with a brief explanation of why this constitutes fair use of the file. If the file has been deleted, you can re-upload it, but please ensure you place the correct tag on it.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. License tagging for File:CGPGrey.png

edit

Thanks for uploading File:CGPGrey.png. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 19:05, 25 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

Non-free rationale for File:Delgado-topps.png

edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Delgado-topps.png. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Eeekster (talk) 03:14, 3 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

File permission problem with File:Ceciliani-Nimmo-Herrera.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Ceciliani-Nimmo-Herrera.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Eeekster (talk) 02:50, 20 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

Yeah, I will, I'm not done with my latest batch, and additionally, I've started a few pages, such as Eric Langill and Dave Racaniello Editosaurus (talk) 17:22, 28 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

Colon Image

edit

OK, so I put in a new Colon image. Yes, I took it during a full sunlight, difficult photography day, BUT, you still can see Colon much more clearly that the image of your choice. Plus, it's one of those unspoken rules, like in MLB that you shouldn't flip a bat after a home run, that a community member's photos should take priority. I work pretty hard to take time off of work, get to these games, so WP can have some, what I think anyway, are sometimes professional quality images. Please respect this edit. Terry Foote (talk) 11:29, 25 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Terry, your image is low quality and I find that Edito's images are usually high quality. I recommend replacing it with the highest quality image possible, regardless of who took it. We want people to get a clear image of what a player looks lile, that "unspoken rule" is false. Leggomygreggo8 (talk) 13:31, 25 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
I'll try harder to meet Editosaurus's exacting standards the next time I book my schedule 5 weeks in advance to get shots of players for Wikipedia. And no, the rule is not false. Most importantly, perhaps Editosaurus should show a little more respect to a user who has been editing since perhaps Mr. Saurus was in grade school. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Terry Foote (talkcontribs) 12:19, 28 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

To me, Terry, it doesn't really matter who took the picture. I think that most people would agree with me that your picture of Bartolo was of lesser quality than the one I found and added. I don't really schedule just to take pictures either. I just want to improve the quality of the wiki. As for your picture on Hansel Robles, I have no problem with that one. But the Bartolo one generally looks like it didn't come out very good. This has nothing to do with your seniority, or anything like that. I've taken pictures myself and added them to pages to have them removed before. Some of them were even replaced by pictures from the same person. But overall, it doesn't matter who took the picture. If you're 'that' concerned with your picture not being on the infobox, bring it up in Talk:Bartolo Colón (if you haven't already, I haven't checked) and look for a consensus there. I'd be almost willing to bet they'd side with me. Editosaurus (talk) 05:05, 29 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

OK, all this sounds reasonable, and I appreciate a reasonable explanation, thank you. I've had so many experiences in which perfectly good edits were reverted out-of-hand with no discussion, that I just had a knee-jerk response with your taking down the Colon image, and I apologize for that. For so many reasons, I'd rather get along than not, and be civil and courteous than not, and it's just better that way if our paths cross again on baseball. Again, thanks for the courteous explanation. Happy Editing, Terry Foote (talk) 15:56, 29 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Erick Aybar Image=

edit

Editosaurus, I'm sorry to do this, but I reverted the Erick Aybar image simply because the older one is so much more clear. Maybe you can try to get a clearer image of him the next time the Braves come to town. I'm trying to be nicer here to you, so I hope we can keep things this way. Thanks, Terry Foote (talk) 20:52, 20 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

Ik now it wasn't an optimal image I got for Aybar. I thought the policy was just to go with an image from the current team if possible. Editosaurus (talk) 21:49, 20 June 2016 (UTC)Reply
