Removing Speedy at Helen Bousquet edit

Welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for taking the time to create a page here. It might not have been your intention, but you recently removed a speedy deletion tag from a page you created yourself. Because Wikipedia policy does not allow the creator of the page to remove deletion tags, an automated program has replaced the deletion tag you removed from Helen Bousquet. Please do not continue to remove the deletion tag, instead, if you disagree with the deletion, you can follow these steps:

  1. Go to the page by clicking this link. Once there, select the button that says Click here to contest this speedy deletion.
  2. This will take you to the talk page, where you can make your case by explaining why the page does not meet Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion.

Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do. For further help about the deletion, you could contact the user who first placed the tag or a highly active user who is willing to help with deletion. This message was left by a bot, so please do not contact the bot about the deletion. Thank you, - SDPatrolBot (talk) 17:52, 5 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for using Wikipedia for promotional purposes, personal attacks, copyright violations, and removal of speedy delete tags. Request reason:

I have made no personal attacks whatsoever in any listing, so this editor clearly has a personal problem with the subject that I am attempting to create. I was in fact getting assistance from an editor, and my second attempt to create that page was working out fine. There was nothing spam or advertising about it, it was nothing more than me creating a page for an artist where nobility is clearly not an issue. I was also in discussions to fix the page of Helen Bousquet, provided up to 7 days to do so. To summarily block this account is completely ridiculous. I am new to how Wikipedia works, and I was getting tips and beginning to get the hang of it. To have an editor with an arrogant attitude block me in this way is just absurd. The irony of people who have accomplished nothing, who then dictate what is noble and what isn't, is a little humorous, and again, ironic. There were no personal attacks on Brian Evans. He is my cousin.Croonerman (talk) 1:16 am, Today (UTC+0)

Decline reason:

I am declining your unblock request because it does not address the reason for your block, or because it is inadequate for other reasons. To be unblocked, you must convince the reviewing administrator(s) that

  • the block is not necessary to prevent damage or disruption to Wikipedia, or
  • the block is no longer necessary because you
    1. understand what you have been blocked for,
    2. will not continue to cause damage or disruption, and
    3. will make useful contributions instead.

Please read the guide to appealing blocks for more information. Yunshui  10:24, 7 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the unblock template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

  • Comment. The personal attack was here. The copyright violation was uploading a copyrighted image of Evans to Commons and claiming it was your own work; the image has been speedily deleted. The single-promotional-purpose of your account speaks for itself. As for my "arrogant attitude", I was the admin who rejected the A7 tag for the Bousquet article.--Bbb23 (talk) 01:26, 7 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
Croonerman, I'm not going to rule on your unblock request since I deleted an article you were involved with, so I'll let someone else. However, the first version of the Brian Evans article did contain significant violations of our biographies of living persons article. I'm willing to chalk that up to a newbie's mistake, and give you another chance, but please be aware that is not a policy we take lightly. Obviously for privacy reasons, I can't post exactly what they were, but without going into too much detail, you made totally unsourced allegations of legal trouble. If you're to be unblocked, we need your assurance that you'll never do that again. (There was also a personal attack issue regarding calling me an "asshole", but, eh, well, I've been called worse and it doesn't particularly bother me, and the reviewing admin is welcome to take that into account.)
There's also the issue of advertising/promotion, whether or not you intended that. I would like to know if you still intend to edit articles related to Evans. If he's part of your family, it will be very difficult for you to maintain a neutral point of view and avoid editing from personal knowledge rather than only sourced information, but those are requirements, and for that reason, we strongly discourage editors in that position from directly editing articles on subjects they're close to. It sounds like you're interested in big band music in general, maybe there are some other articles you could edit, without reference to your cousin? Request reason:

I can surely provide examples on his notability. I also see that "Hell in a Bucket" may be willing to assist me in creating this page so that it deals with any conceived conflict. I also have no problem submitting it through WP:AFC, but I would need to be walked through how to do that as if I'm a child, because believe it or not, it's complicated creating a page when you are new to how to achieve it. Brian Evans edit

So I've been doing some digging. The thing that bothers me about this is that the singer appears to be known more for hsi other exploits then his singing 1 and 2. Now if I can find an independent source other then PRWIRE or Businesswire that affirms the song was added to Baseballs Hall of Fame I think we have notability nailed so for that I'm relying on you. Hell In A Bucket (talk) 12:28, 7 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

His previous run-ins were mentioned on the page that was deleted. There was nothing hidden there.

Is the son of Helen Bousquet, who has brought national attention to the condition known as "Sleep Apnea," which until her story rarely received any attention (there's also a page on this that I have been working on, which you might be able to additionally assist me in).

See www.valleypatriot.com newspaper website, I believe it's on their website. Also, sleepapnea.org "Unnecessary loss of life" (something to that effect on it's home page). They are working together, Brian and The American Sleep Apnea Association, to have a bill presented to Congress in her name, so that any patient with sleep apnea must be monitored prior to discharge from a hospital right up until they are indeed discharged.

As you can see, none of the above are "PR Newswire" or self-released news items.

Croonerman (talk) 13:37, 7 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

I created a stub on Brian Evans. it can be found here Brian Evans (Singer) I believe that as a stub form it meets notability guidelines but just barely. Hell In A Bucket (talk) 06:55, 8 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

I disagree that it barely meets the notability guidelines. You have failed to mention other career highlights, such as the music video that was then filmed at Fenway Park on September 25th, 2012. It is the only music video ever to be filmed at Fenway Park to then be licensed by Major League Baseball. Also, he never opened for William Shatner is Hawaii. Shatner appeared with Evans there, and also recorded an album with Brian Evans (see Brian Evans with special guest William Shatner at amazon.com). Here is also a link to the music video story: http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/mlb-big-league-stew/william-shatner-treks-fenway-red-sox-rays-video-192305998--mlb.html

There is twenty years worth of career achievements (IMDB lists more than you have) in terms of factual and confirmable non-PR newswire information. I say this with no disrespect, but as the above Yahoo link confirms (again, that link is http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/mlb-big-league-stew/william-shatner-treks-fenway-red-sox-rays-video-192305998--mlb.html) you cannot pick and choose the facts of this man's life while leaving out significant factual information. You also fail to mention that the "conviction" was later pardoned. Also see: http://www.rollcall.com/issues/50_23/-6650-1.html Croonerman (talk) 10:28, 8 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Some additional entries have been made to the Brian Evans (Singer) page to add links/references and accurate information. I would appreciate it if you would review it, and format it correctly in the event I did not. Croonerman (talk) 10:35, 8 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Actually the version that exists now is not the one I created. Mine was a short article that didn[t actually talk about a conviction just an arrest. Hell In A Bucket (talk) 10:38, 8 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

I do appreciate your help Hell In A Bucket!!! Croonerman (talk) 10:41, 8 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Please take a look at the section "Singing Career" to see if I did that correctly. Croonerman (talk) 10:44, 8 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

I will, and for my part I like to create stubs that I "know" that can survive and them let other editors go frmo there and frankly Hiroloveswords has a pretty impressive article editing ratio so I'd defintely ask him too. Hell In A Bucket (talk) 10:54, 8 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
Also I would let you know we wouldn't accept youtube as a reliable source nor amazon. I only mention amazon because I remember it being mentioned as an accolade. Hell In A Bucket (talk) 10:57, 8 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Not to push my luck, but could you please help me format the Helen Bousquet page, too, so that it survives? She is bringing national attention to the condition known as Sleep Apnea, which took her life. SleepApnea.org, the only association in America for the condition, has her listed on their home page, and her death has caused for numerous investigations by US Senator Kerry, etc. I think it's an important piece of information. Croonerman (talk) 11:13, 8 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

I can look into it, I did briefly and thought it didn't meet the requirements but I didn't do significant digging. A lot of times though in cases where they are "only" known for being sick unless there was a case study they don't stick around but I'll look into it further. Hell In A Bucket (talk) 11:16, 8 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Well, she was not only sick. She is the co-producer of "At Fenway," and she is equally added to the National Baseball Hall of Fame library as a result of it.

I am trying to "clean up" some of the things on the Brian Evans (singer) page, and hope you will review the edits. For instance, the charges involving Kasem (which were reduced from a felony to a misdemeanor, as evident by his ability to later qualify to run for the US Senate), and small typo's. I'm almost afraid to add or correct anything, because it seems when I do I'm crossing some line. So please take a look to make sure what I'm referencing with "links" are where they belong so that they survive my edits.

I would appreciate any help on this addition made to the Brian Evans (singer) page by me:

His Mother, Helen Bousquet

Brian Evans filed complaints that initiated multiple investigations involving his mother, Helen Bousquet, after she died following routine knee surgery at The Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, Massachusetts. She was left unmonitored in a recovery room, despite a known condition of sleep apnea. Formal complaints and a meeting with Massachusetts state senators William Brownsberger and Bruce Tarr have resulted in an investigation into the hospital, owned by Steward Health Care System of Boston, by the Department of Health and various other state and federal agencies. Croonerman (talk) 12:01, 8 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

My opinion is that this is a section that shouldn't be in the article. I understand you are either Brian Evans or a member of his family and I do have sympathy for this sad loss but I think that ultimately the article on Helen won't be kept, mainly because as a coproducer this won't qualify her notability and her death while it has made media coverage it fails the guidelines WP:ONEEVENT. Hell In A Bucket (talk) 12:04, 8 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Well, it has obviously become a "big cause" for Brian now. He is even having a resolution created by Sen. Kerry to begin the process of making it a law that all patients with pre-existing conditions be monitored following any surgery until discharge from the hospital. You would think that's already a law. Given that's a big new mission of his, what happened to his mother and the publicist surrounding him (and her), it may be relevant. Please review helenbousquet.com and the "press section" before deciding. Croonerman (talk) 12:08, 8 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Remember that Wikipedia is not the news, it is an encyclopedia. If a law is passed, and the law is the subject of a significant amount of writing, then an article about the law would probably include some discussion of Ms. Bousquet. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 12:15, 8 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Don't you believe that there should be some mention that Brian Evans just did a music video at Fenway park for the song "At Fenway" that features William Shatner as the home plate umpire? See: http://www.masslive.com/entertainment/index.ssf/2012/11/william_shatner_plays_umpire_i.html at least as a reference? Croonerman (talk) 12:30, 8 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

I do appreciate everyone's help with the newbie. Croonerman (talk) 12:35, 8 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

I think it distracts from the song itself personally. It's cool but not a requirement for establishing his notability. Remember the article is about Brian Evans and not the actual song itself. Now if the song (and I don't believe it does) ends up being notbale enough to have it's own article then it would be appropriate but for the current incarnation should focus on Brian. We were all new at some point ;) Hell In A Bucket (talk) 12:38, 8 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Fair enough. Well, final request! Can you all help me with maintaining the Helen Bousquet article, perhaps even as a stub form? Croonerman (talk) 12:47, 8 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

For right now there is really nothing we can do to salvage that, as FQ pointed out if they end up passing a law on her behalf we would have something to work with but for right now per our guidelines we do not. Again i sympathize because reviewing the circumstances it is a pretty egregious and negligent thing that happened, especially when a hospital knows about a sleep condition or any condition and fails to care for their patient. Every patient deserves the very best level of care or why would there be hospitals at all... Hell In A Bucket (talk) 13:06, 8 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Ok, well, see what you can do. I have made a final addition to the Brian Evans (singer) page, providing writer credits given this: http://www.variety.com/article/VR1118009988/ Croonerman (talk) 15:13, 8 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Will editors kindly review the final updates I have made for the Brian Evans (singer) page to make sure it meets all guidelines and is correctly stated? There are references I've added as links, but I'm wondering if anyone (if you have the time) could also add them to the numbered reference list? Croonerman (talk) 16:12, 8 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

This information was added, and likely important: He is the only artist ever to record a CD "Live at The Desert Inn" in the history of The Desert Inn (see: http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/1999/mar/09/evans-goes-live-at-di----on-cd/). Significant because of all the people who've played there, including Sinatra. Only Brian Evans has ever done a live album at this historic venue. Croonerman (talk) 16:25, 8 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

That looks tremendously better, and thank you for being willing to listen to the advice you've received, despite the rocky start. :) By the way, if this is a genre that interests you, there are a lot of articles in Category:Big bands that could very much use some attention. Think you'd be interested? Seraphimblade Talk to me 23:54, 8 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Note to editors: Can someone please add this link to the "references" section of the Brian Evans (singer) section? Alrighty, done working on this one for a while and am going to begin working on researching different "crooners." Please clean up any messes I left, though I believe I did it all right this time. Croonerman (talk) 12:08, 9 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hell in a bucket...you don't see what happened to his mother, and what he's doing about it, as something people should know? Croonerman (talk) 13:01, 9 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Why are there all these red "error messages" in the reference section of Brian Evans (singer)? Croonerman (talk) 13:03, 9 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

I have to fix the names on it which I will do shortly. As we have explained a little before this counts as news and WP:NOTNEWS applies, I know that's cold but it's the policies in effect here to avoid recentism. I'd wait on the mothers part, I really would. And try to use : before you post a reply and add one for each discussion line you add it provides spacing so it doesn't look like a completely long section.

COI thoughts edit

I'd still be pretty leary of editing this article a whole bunch. One wikilink for Helen is enough, really it is. We call it excessive linking. This is one of the reasons why we discouraging editing in areas that you are connected to because it clouds your neutrality. I'd suggest leaving the article for a bit, if you notice I'm not really changing the content of the article just bringing it to a more neutral and encyclopaedic tones. Hell In A Bucket (talk) 14:04, 9 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

ok. I will take your advice. Croonerman (talk) 14:06, 9 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

References edit

Look at how I did this reference from what you put in 3..If you can learn this it would be helpful. I say that like it's super easy but I'm still learning this myself after four years but it will help with the appearance of the article and format it according to WP:MOS. I'm not jumping on ya just so you know just giving you a crash course in wiki ;) Hell In A Bucket (talk) 14:30, 9 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Sounds good, but I have absolutely nothing to do with the subject "Brian Evans (singer)," and intend on creating pages about ALL crooners, not just Brian Evans. Placing that "statement" on his page may make himm look bad, but I have no connection to him and would be happy to email over my Maryland ID to prove it. I saw him movie preview in a movie theater, saw that he did not have a Wiki page, and decided to create one. The "statement" isn't correct in any way on the "Brian Evans (singer)" page and should be removed. Croonerman (talk) 14:50, 9 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
Remember to use colons to space your comments it reduces the confusion as I mentioned above. And you have already admitted your connection to him..."There were no personal attacks on Brian Evans. He is my cousin" Hell In A Bucket (talk) 14:54, 9 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

I was only saying he was my cousin because you guys kept deleting my research, which you all eventually learned to be true when I began correctly formatting the page. My apologies for being untruthful, but more than happy to provide ID, or even Skype, to prove what I am saying. All of my research, hours spent on formatting the pages only to then have them be deleted, is what made me say I was related to him. I am not. And I'd hate to create new pages only to have everyone assume that because I am a good researcher, that I'm related to him. I assure you all that I am not related to him, or Sammy Davis Jr. When I first began on Wikipedia, I simply did not know what I was doing, and didn't take it as seriously as I am now. Croonerman (talk) 14:57, 9 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hell In A Bucket....if you feel it needs to be cleaned up, then clean it up dude! It appears no matter what I do on this thing, I never do it right. When I follow instructions, you embarrass the subject that I'm writing about. Can't win. I give up on Wikipedia, folks! I don't want these people coming after me that I'm creating pages about simply because you are all looking for a reason to be negative! Croonerman (talk) 15:02, 9 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

This doesn't reflect on the subject being written about, it's just maintenance tagging which will ultimately help with the article. It goes on a list and people come through and make sure it does meet the standards. Cheer up you're doing a good job and it's a lot to learn and these aren't punitive tags, it just helps us create a better encyclopedia. Hell In A Bucket (talk) 15:05, 9 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
I just do not want people I am a fan of thinking badly about me because of some editor. Croonerman (talk) 15:06, 9 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Just to give you an example, I just wrote Dax Charles, this was a semi conflict of interest for me. I tagged my own article 4 and even wrote about it on the talkpage 5 explaining it. If it was a punitive or negative thing I wouldn't want it on my own article, if you notice another established editor came and reviewed and removed. Just maintenance. "He's my cousin." "No, I don't know him at all, I never met him." You seem to be trying to decide who you are based on what is most likely to get an article into the encyclopedia. But let's be honest, shall we, Brian? "Croonerman" is your nickname for yourself. It's on your web site and your Facebook page. That's why you are having so much difficulty- as you are discovering, the conflict of interest rules are important because it's nearly impossible to write objectively about yourself. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 12:41, 10 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
  • As you know, I unblocked you to give you another chance. Rather than take that second chance, you have continued to be disruptive, so I have reinstated the block that I had lifted. Further details of the problems that led to the block can be seen on another user's talk page, as you well know, as you attempted to remove the discussion there. JamesBWatson (talk) 12:38, 10 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

I was not being disruptive, and he didn't even make an issue out of what was nothing more than a healthy debate. You are just looking for a way to boot me off, and congrats on finding one. Croonerman (talk) 14:07, 10 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

I'm "just looking for a way to boot [you] off"? I was the person who unblocked you to give you another chance. Don't you think that, if I wanted a way to "boot you off", I could have just left you blocked? JamesBWatson (talk) 17:33, 10 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
Croonerman, I hope all the help you've received would indicate to you that we're not just looking for a way to "boot you off", quite the opposite. But one thing we do expect from our colleagues here is honesty. You're not required to reveal your real-life identity here at all, of course, but when you've made conflicting statements about it, that makes it seem like we're being misled. That is compounded by the fact that you do not seem to have correctly specified the copyright status of files you've uploaded. Can you understand why this is a cause for concern? Seraphimblade Talk to me 17:47, 10 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
If you removed my edit because you don't want people to know who you are, you should know that everyone has access to your talk page history. I wouldn't block you for picking a username that is related to your real identity, or even for trying to write about yourself, but only for editing in a way that's disruptive to the project. Are you interested in writing about any subject other than yourself and your family? If you are, we'd love to have your help.-FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 22:10, 10 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

What must I do to be unblocked so that I can edit pages again. I'll play by the rules! Croonerman (talk) 11:15, 13 February 2013 (UTC)Reply
First you'd have to re-request unblock which is then reviewed by Administration. the relevant parts are above. I personally think unblock is highly unlikely due to the nature of repeated sock puppetry but that's for them to decide. You can request via the template above again copy and paste style. BTW Brian FWIW I do like the "At Fenway" song it was well done indeed. Hell In A Bucket (talk) 11:37, 13 February 2013 (UTC)Reply
(edit conflict) You may want to consider taking the standard offer: leave entirely for six months, give assurances that you won't repeat the disruptive behaviour (in your case, this would probably involve a voluntary topic ban on articles relating to Brian Evans and Helen Bousquet) and then request that you be unblocked. If, during the intervening period, you can show productive activity on other WikiMedia projects (like Wikisource, Wiktionary or Wikivoyage) that will tend to count in your favour, though it's by no means required. Yunshui  11:44, 13 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

I'm not Brian (Mark), you wouldn't want to hear me sing. However, I think we should get a photo up there. Can I contact him (Brian) and have him email a photo he owns so that you can put it up? Croonerman (talk) 11:40, 13 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

I would advise strongly against involving yourself any further in Brian Evan's Wikipedia entry. If Mr Evans owns a suitable photograph (as in, owns the copyright to it and can prove it), he is welcome to licence it under CC-BY-SA and upload it to Wikimedia Commons (he'll also need to email permissions-en@wikimedia.org to provide evidence that the photographer has relinquished the copyright to him). However, you yourself are probably best served by simply dropping the topic entirely. Yunshui  11:48, 13 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Sockpuppet investigation edit

Hi. An editor has opened an investigation into sockpuppetry by you. Sockpuppetry is the use of more than one Wikipedia account in a manner that contravenes community policy. The investigation is being held at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Croonerman, where the editor who opened the investigation has presented their evidence. Please make sure you make yourself familiar with the guide to responding to investigations, and then feel free to offer your own evidence or to submit comments that you wish to be considered by the Wikipedia administrator who decides the result of the investigation. If you have been using multiple accounts (in a manner contrary to Wikipedia policy), please go to the investigation page and verify that now. Leniency is usually shown to those who promise not to do so again, or who did so unwittingly, but the abuse of multiple accounts is taken very seriously by the Wikipedia community.
