HONORIFICS/UGC

edit

Hi. And welcome. In relation to this edit, please note that:

  • WP:UGC / WP:MIRROR - This webpage is a mirror of the equivalent Wikipedia page/content. Not only are other wikis (and other forms of user generated content) not considered reliable sources but, for obvious reasons, Wikipedia cannot be a source for itself.
  • MOS:HONORIFIC / MOS:SIR - If you added the above (cyclical/self-referring) source to the article to justify adding the honorific "Sir" to the text, then please note that (reliably referenced or not), using honorifics in running text is not in keeping with the related guidelines.

Thanks. Guliolopez (talk) 16:29, 3 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

Dear Guliolopez,
I am unsure as why you remove my edit regarding Sir Delaval Cotter Bt.
He would not be refered to as Delaval Cotter, but Sir Delaval Cotter, 6th Baronet of Rockforest, or Sir Delaval Cotter, Bt.
A baronet is always refered to as Sir Example, that is their title. It is different from that of a Lord who may be called Example One, 3rd Baron Example.
Please refer to the use of the baronet title in other wikipedia articles, included below, thankyou:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baronet
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sir_Nicholas_Bacon,_14th_Baronet
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Francis_Annesley,_1st_Viscount_Valentia

And one more reference here regarding baronet or knight titles:

Hello. I have changed/restored the link/target (in the running text of the Blackwater Castle article) from [[Lieutenant-Colonel Sir Delaval Cotter, 6th Baronet of Rockforest]] to [[Delaval Cotter|Sir Delaval Cotter, 6th Baronet Rockforest]] because that is the project convention.
In terms of the (red) link to the article title, as per the section of WP:NCBRITPEER dealing with Baronets, "Baronets should, if no disambiguation is required, have their article located at the simple name, e.g. George Albu (rather than "Sir George Albu, 1st Baronet")"
In terms of the running text itself, and while WP:NCBRITPEER would seem to provide for Baronets having the "Sir" included, the MOS:HONORIFIC guidelines do not provide for the inclusion of every possible title/office/prefix/honorific/rank (military or otherwise) in running text. Take a look at the backlinks for the examples you provide above, for example, and you will note that that is not the convention/norm. Having multiple honorific prefixes and suffixes, in running text, is not Wikipedia's voice.

Hi,
thanks for your comments.
I did quite a bit of research on this subject and also looked at actors in a similar postion to that of Julius Cotter.
One such actor, Christian Stamm https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christian_Stamm only uses the following references:
Categories:
German male film actors
German male television actors
German emigrants to Spain
Heidelberg University alumni
1967 births
Living people
Expatriate actors in Spain
German expatriates in Spain
They are all wikipedia references that do not mention him in any way. I therefore do not understand how his page could have been published and the page i wrote regarding the actor Julius Cotter, and now the head of the Cotter family (see wikipedia page on Cotter family, Baronets of Rockforest) has not.
Could you specifiy what the actor Christian Stamm's page has that I have forgotten to add to the page I put together regarding the actor Julius Cotter.
Another example, the Director, Esteban Crespo with whom Julius Cotter worked, has only one reference: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Esteban_Crespo
and his imdb link.
These are just two references, to give examples, but i would ask for your help in telling me what their published pages have that the page i wrote about Julius Cotter, does not.
Did I not include his imdb page as Esteban Crepo has?
www.imdb.me/juliuscotter
There would also be changes to his page as he recently became the 8th Baronet of Rockforest, following the death of his father in 2023, according to the Times newspaper.
I would be very grateful for your help, so that can get this page updated and published.
Many thanks, in advance, for your help with this matter,
i await your reply (and help)
Kind regards
