Ecole Polytechnique Massacre article and 'Dina' edit

I need someone's assistance or the admin person 'Dina' is going to prevent me from making changes to the Ecole Polytechnique Massacre article. This is an ongoing problem since before Christmas as there are too many who are unwilling to consider the social implications of the Montreal Massacre and to have it reflect that. I did put in a request for mediation on 1 Jan, but an hour later Dina put in a request for comment against me, and had several of her buddies testify the problem was me. Today I put a note on the Cabal page for assistance and then decided to wrote to you. I am also having more problems simply inserting changes on that article on the Montreal Massacre, though I am doing it the same way, and wonder if someone with knowledge of technology can make it more difficult. I did ask Dina for help on this but am not getting it. What would help most of all is if she would leave my posts in. Suemcp 10:35, 8 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

COWMAN, I HAVE READ your responses.I didn't know I couldn't suggest my own website. But there is someone who does think my website is worth having on there, and he has written a few times to the discussion about it, and again this evening, giving his endorselment of the website. But now Dina is asking for a Wikipedia editor to mediate, I guess. And I have applied, as I said, but not gotten anyone. But I need someone 'on my side' she says now, or she will cut me out. We have already been trhough the 'talk' part that you suggested, but it hadn't been about 'talk'. It's been about who has the power to have their will followed. I really do need someone to take a look at it. The external website link is just a first step. of course,. There are several other changes I would like to have really thought about, instead of being simply cast out by people who have already made up their minds on this. Would you please come into this. It is a political matter. The website I started isn't simply my voice There are many different perspectives. It's not a po;lular one, to think that feminists and social change were in part responsible for the creating the situation which left Marc Lepine feeling he wanted to do something about being rejected by the engineering school. And even the way it's been worded now, it is being made to look as though he wasn't committed or intelligent enough. Suemcp 22:04, 8 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

164.116.107.39 edit

The IP 164.116.107.39 has had a long history of vandalism, and was blocked three times. Someone from their technology department emailed me with the following: "Mike,

I just wanted to let you know that 164.116.107.39 is the IP for the Ephrata School District. We have been blocked from editing content on Wikipedia. As we have hundreds of students able to submit changes to Wikipedia I ask that the block would not be lifted." I agree with you on how a request isn't enough to block someone, but would it be possible to use a soft block so people can register at home then login at school? What would you recommend I tell the the person? Should I be posting this in a different location? Thanks! Mike6271 03:36, 12 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

IP addresses aren't generally blocked indefinitely unless they are open proxies, but as this is an odd case I would suggest you make a post on WP:ANI explaining the situation to get the opinion of more administrators to see if there is some sort of consensus on what to do. An action like that probably isn't something a single administrator should do. Cowman109Talk 03:40, 12 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Could you help with some research? edit

Greetings Cowman109,

I'm currently in the middle of a PhD at the University of Bath, UK. I'm examining the way that mediation differs between face-to-face, video-conferenced and text-based meetings. You can get a gist of the research from my (somewhat sparse) homepage here.

I've been trawling through the MediationCabal archives and have noticed that you've mediated in number of cases. Would you be willing to spare some time to talk to me about your experiences mediating? It'd help me out no end!

If you'd like some more info, you can leave a message on my talkpage or contact me via the e-mail on my homepage.

Many thanks

Matt

ArbCom case closure edit

I'm sorry I wasn't clear on the ArbCom clerks case ... all I meant was I'd handle the closure if no one else claimed it, since Thatcher131 identified this as a case that an unofficial "helper" could take. Omura article/help please edit

Crum375 has reverted the POV template I put above the article, saying that it is not very non-neutral as a whole. I have said that as a WP editor who strongly disputes the neutrality of the article, I have the right to have this template up, is this correct or am I mistaken?

4) A critical statement from the NZ Tribunial that is forming a big part of the article, from exactly the same official NZ Tribunial citation being used for all the other statement states that:

Dr. Gorringe gave evidence as to the background relating to PMRT (or BDORT) and attributed the origin of it to Dr. Yoshiaki Omura and produced some written material relating to the Omura technique (exhibits 31 and 42). However, it would appear from a perusal of those materials that the technique which Dr. Gorringe practices is different from that practiced by Dr. Omura and therefore the Omura materials do not assist the Tribunal to any real extent.

Crum375 is arguing that this is "confusing" and so not allowed. Obviously it is important because it makes the Tribunial report have a different 'light' on things altogether. (It also corresponds with what Omura states in the above quote from his statement). I strongly contest this and see this as clear POV omission, and see no reason to omitt it except POV. Can you help with this please.

Thank you.Richardmalter 08:49, 29 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Brandon Buddy edit

Just wondering about your deletion of the Bradon Buddy article; yes, it was recreated, but you must admit the consensus to delete at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Brandon Buddy was a little sad at three people with no idea about daytime TV. The AfD was reargued a bit on the Talk page and the newest AfD notice was removed, so I'm not sure why you deleted it so fast. TAnthony 22:27, 6 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

It was a recent AFD, so the best path right now would be deletion review. Cowman109Talk 22:28, 6 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Adam W. Nelson edit

Why'd you delete the article on such a wonderful man???? What's the matter, who cares if he isn't a generic, coke snorting Hollywood celebrity? He's a part of Luther College in Regina and if there is an article for Luther, there should be one for Adam. He helps make the school what it is.

The coke-snorting celebrities generally have some sort of verifiable information about them. The article that you wrote had no sources and was not verifiable in any way in its state. If you can find sources and can assert the subject's notability, then by all means you can recreate it. Cowman109Talk 01:52, 8 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Arbitration clerking edit

I would like to submit your name to the arbitration committee for consideration of a formal full appointment to arbitration clerk. Having opened and closed a few cases and seen how things work generally, do you feel interested enough to make a reasonable committment to clerking? There's no specific requirement, just that it's not very useful to have clerks who get bored or busy after one or two cases. Thatcher131 20:36, 12 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

I'd certainly be interested, but just for the record I'm leaving for the next two weeks on a community service trip with some people in my school, so if anything is done within that time I won't be available. I am fine making a commitment to clerking, however, so yes I'd be interested. Cowman109Talk 20:40, 12 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

To Cowman109,

I am not satisfied with the way cabalcase : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Mediation_Cabal/Cases/2007-02-10_Bates_Method is processed. Is it possible to bring this case to a higher level with a arbitration.

I think it has become also a behavioral issue. The mediator for example who closed the case did not give any argument. Comprising action came from the other party ( famousdog ). In fact there was no real conversation about the subject. Which is in fact very simple. It is whether or not the batesmethod is a program or an educational program. Gladly receive your feedback Seeyou 21:05, 1 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

To bring the case to arbitration you should see WP:RFAR and follow the instructions there. A link to the above case would be evidence that other attempts at dispute resolution have been made. Cowman109Talk 21:26, 1 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
