Board of Student Advisers article edit

Hello, thank you for writing this article! I have a few concerns about it and wanted to discuss them with you:

  • I’m a bit concerned that this organisation might not be notable enough to qualify for a Wikipedia article. That link goes to a guide, but basically any coverage of a company on here is supposed to be based on being covered in reliable sources, like newspapers, in the form of full articles. University departments and student bodies aren't automatically notable in their own right.
  • The article needs more context for non-expert readers. I had no idea what university this was talking about without Googling.
  • A lot of it reads like a press release or promotional copy, not a factual encyclopaedia article.
  • Chunks of it seem to be a copyright violation of this text.

Are there any extra citations you can add from reliable sources like news articles about this organisation demonstrating that it's notable? (Those are links to guides explaining this in more detail.) I'm concerned since the article may get deleted otherwise.

Since the article reads like you might be marketing this organisation, you might want to look at this, an automated text on editing if you have a conflict of interest. My advice when drafting articles is to read the my first article guide, draft an article and then ask experienced editors for feedback via the articles for creation project - they can help you spot and fix common problems like this and decide if something will be a good topic for a Wikipedia article.

Copyright violation edit

Cornellcam: I came here because a noticeboard report was made about your work; the editor should have informed you of this, and I am sorry they did not I see now that there is a short notice from the editor at the end of one of the sections above. The matter it concerns is a serious one that many new editors do not realize is serious: Wikipedia cannot have text copied from other places, except within extremely strictly defined limitations (short quotations clearly marked as such and with a stated source, text from government, very old, and other explicitly copyright-free sources, and text that has been officially made available to us for unlimited reuse. This is because Wikipedia is publication, and also because we license our content for unlimited reuse, including commercial applications. Your article on the Board of Student Advisors has been deleted because it copies text from a website. For more about why this is not allowed, see this page.
