Twiddles

{{helpme}} I want to write a new article on HART, as red deer stag in a medieval hunting context. Unfortunately 'Hart' in this meaning redirects to disambiguation page and thence to an existing article on deer. To add more detailed historical information about 'hart' would be inappropriate to a general article on deer, and would also mean that anyone linking from references to 'hart' in other articles (eg 'rache') would have to search through a great deal of irrelevant material. It would be better, in my view, to have a separate article on 'hart' with appropriate linkages to and from the article on deer. How can I override existing connections to create a new article? NB I have already encountered this problem with 'sleuth-hound' which redirected to existing page on 'bloodhound'. I defeated this by creating an entry for 'sleuth hound', which can be looked at. However, it is unsatisfactory to have 'sleuth-hound' still redirecting to 'bloodhound' How can I solve these problems?

Sometimes the existing redirects are appropriate, and should not be changed. For example, there is a comics character called "Anarchist", and the article for this is at Anarchist (comics), while anarchist still redirects to anarchism, as is appropriate.

In the case of HART, a similar disambiguation is likely the best route given all the existing meanings of "HART". HART (hunting) would be one option. I've fixed the sleuth-hound redirect.  Skomorokh, barbarian  15:27, 22 October 2009 (UTC)

Redirects

Hi! There really is no need to create redirects for every possible spelling of a term. There is also an easy way to do it. In edit mode, click on the tab which reads #R. You then get a template which looks like this:

#REDIRECT [[Insert non-formatted text here]]

File source problem with File:Limer.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Limer.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. References v. claims

I have reverted some edits you've made because you make extraordinary claims and fail to provide references. For example, in the Bloodhound article you talk about Charles IX's thoughts. Where did this come from? You have also removed a lot of referenced content without stating why. I went though Bloodhound and removed a bunch of weasel words and nonsense. I don't know if they were part of your edits or not. Your refs are fine but there was a lot of extraneous info not needed and not directly related to the subject in there. Bob98133 (talk) 20:20, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
