{{helpme|Could someone translate something into Ukrainian for me? The word I want to translate is Smith}}

Answer edit

RJFJR is my initials, including JR for junior at the end. I chose it as a user name because it happens to be a palindrome. RJFJR (talk) 20:50, 12 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

{{helpme|Could someone pinpoint me to a native speaker of Ukrainian, please?}}

Hey, I don't know of anyone personally who can speak Ukrainian but you should find many users listed here, I'm sure one of them would be willing to help —— RyanLupin(talk) 13:24, 13 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Template issue seems to be resolved now. Temp is another name for Template:tl on other projects, so it's now a redirect and should function in the same way. Cheers. -- Ned Scott 19:28, 13 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Recent edits edit

Please do not use another user's subpages for your creations/edits: see [1]. Also, the edits Charity (name) were an instance of missed vandalism; I have restored a proper version. Your addition of a middle name to Ainsley Harriott needs a better reference. Unless it is published in a newspaper i.e. Wikipedia:Verifiability, it should not be included in the article; the person may have been joking or caught out of context otherwise. Also, please do not give users advice on how to vandalize articles: [2]. It seems most unusual. Best, --Jh12 (talk) 20:02, 13 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Smith in Ukrainian edit

As you asked for a reply to your question here, here is what other people (not me) have said:

Hello. Although I speak about 20-25 languages, I need the surname 'Smith' translated into Ukrainian, which I don't speak. Feel free to leave comments on my talk page- not here as I won't be checking here, I'll only ask again. And again. Chris Wattson (talk) 18:07, 11 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Smith would be коваль, but surnames aren't usually translated. Сміт is the transliteration. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 194.171.56.13 (talk) 19:41, 11 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Nice way to approach someone who knows something you don't, with a request to find that thing out. And following it up with a threat to be a juvenile nuisance? Well, usually, to paraphrase Hobson, one must go to a bowling alley to meet a [person] of your stature. --- OtherDave (talk) 22:44, 11 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
I know it's rude to make fun, but after Chris's language-dropping intro here, making him one of the greatest polyglots of all time, I can't resist pointing out that he's volunteered to supply the first 25 digits of pi, which he "happens to know", at pi, "if it helps the article". (The article lists the first 50 and links to 10,000.)
Delete that if I've gone overboard. kwami (talk) 23:00, 11 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
Not at all. In any case, he won't see any of the above because he's made it quite clear he won't be checking. Not even once, let alone again. And again. -- JackofOz (talk) 23:12, 11 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
We should be honoured, you and I, Jack, that we have been graced by one of our Prime Ministers, and one of the first Labor heads of state in the world. Steewi (talk) 01:01, 12 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
Head of government, shurely? Algebraist 01:10, 12 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
Who by rights should never have been eligible because he wasn't a British subject, having been born of German parentage in Valparaiso, Chile, of all places. Yes, Algebraist, he was a head of government. -- JackofOz (talk) 05:57, 12 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
Come on, give him his due; he knows the first 32 digits of pi, not just the first 25. Personally, I'm more curious about the five languages he's not sure whether he knows or not. Matt Deres (talk) 16:03, 13 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

The 32 numbers I know are 3.1415926535897932384626433832795, and that's backed up by going into your computor's calculator, making it scientific, and clicking pi on it.--Chris Wattson (talk) 08:08, 14 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

The scientific calculator in Windows indeed gives a 32-digit approximation to pi. But if that's your only source of knowledge on the subject then you actually know only 31 digits. The 32nd digit may or may not have been rounded up depending on the 33rd digit which the calculator doesn't reveal. If by know you really mean that you have memorised all the digits then congratulations seem to be in order. Cuddlyable3 (talk) 19:50, 21 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

{{helpme}} Why am I being falsely accused of being a sockpuppet at this diff? The middle name I added was backed up by when he was on Who Do You Think You Are?, and what do you mean a juvenile nuisance? And by the way yes I did check

It seems like they came to that conclusion based on your statement that you used an IP address that you previously used to edit your page when blocked and because the spelling of "aspergers" is the same.
I'm not certain what you're referring to, but if a person stated their middle name on a television show, try quoting them in the article and adding a reference for the Television Show. You could also try looking for biographies of the person as their middle name might be revealed in one.
The rest of your question seems like a reply to someone. I recommend contacting that user directly as using a help template gets many different people to your page that might not know what's going on.

Hope this helps! --Skunkboy74 (talk) 09:07, 14 September 2008 (UTC) (Updated. Thanks for the link.)Reply

{{helpme|Why am I accused of being a sockpuppet just because I spell aspergers the same way as another user? There's only one spelling of it!}}

Try reading [| the entire discussion]. It should clear things up a bit.

Hope that helps! --Skunkboy74 (talk) 09:48, 14 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

Falsely accusing me of being someone I'm not is disability discrimination. I don't know why you're saying I have an unusual spelling of aspergers because there's only one spelling of it.

Decline reason:

Reading through this discussion, I see a number of arguments against you. Yes, one of the claims (the one you mentioned) seems to make no sense to me, but that doesn't weaken the validity of all the others. עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 10:55, 15 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

I still can't see why I'm being falsely accused. What I do know, is that he is my dad's dad. That's why the family tree was there- to avoid confusion. I'm not Andy Bjornovich. Please unblock me.

Decline reason:

Per all other comments. There are just too many similarities to dismiss. — Daniel Case (talk) 14:28, 15 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

  • You have basically admitted to abusing IP addresses (while not logged in) to avoid scrutiny, and encouraged another user to do the same. I don't think it would have been wise to unblock you. - Mike Rosoft (talk) 13:20, 15 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

No, I saw once someone had used a variety of different IP addresses, and they couldn't work out which one was the puppetmaster. I'm not that person.--Chris Wattson (talk) 13:46, 15 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

  • Yes, you did; you have encouraged U-Two to engage in vandalism of Wikipedia using a multitude of IP addresses, rather than a single account. And you can't deny that; the link to your comment is just above. (For the record, I am not aware of any evidence that U-Two ever vandalized Wikipedia; he just posted an angry comment on an article's talk page regarding the article's [supposed] inaccuracy. For that, the appropriate answer is: so fix it.) - Mike Rosoft (talk) 16:54, 15 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
