Your recent edits edit

Hi, there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. On many keyboards, the tilde is entered by holding the Shift key, and pressing the key with the tilde pictured. You may also click on the signature button   located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot 04:19, 3 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Your translation of Latin phrases in WP Occam's Razor article edit

Thanks a lot Steewi (and I see you're an Aussie too like me! Makes sense as we're both up and about when much of the world is sleeping.) Your translations sound great, and I would only amend the first to read "Pluralities are never [to be] put forward without necessity", as the words are intended as a prescription rather than a statement. Now that I look at it again, I am a little confused as to what distinction is to be made between the three versions of the Principle given here. To discriminate between them seems like a quibble. Really? Every city has a body of literature, even at least one work? Even just a character on a scrap piece of paper?68.148.164.166 (talk) 01:15, 30 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
Is there any way to find out what would be considered a major city? And Is there any way to find out if there is an accepted way of writing folk songs down in characters?68.148.164.166 (talk) 18:26, 30 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
Excatly: Cantonese is special be cause of Standard Dialect Characters. The reason: Cantonese opera.
When scripts were written for Cantonese opera, the characters were standardized. My question is are there any dialects that had this process, or the like?68.148.164.166 (talk) 00:46, 1 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

zh-2 edit

I have a hard time believing you have just an intermediate knowledge of Chinese. :) bibliomaniac15 03:51, 10 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

I have a degree with a major in Chinese, but my Chinese has been deteriorating. I can't guarantee that what I've written is particularly grammatically correct. Although, I have to admit, my knowledge of the inner workings of Chinese is pretty good. A linguistics major helps with that. Steewi (talk) 22:39, 12 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

This user is a Reference desk regular.

The box to the right is the newly created userbox for all RefDesk regulars. Since you are an RD regular, you are receiving this notice to remind you to put this box on your userpage! (but when you do, don't include the |no. Just say {{WP:RD regulars/box}} ) This adds you to Category:RD regulars, which is a must. So please, add it. Don't worry, no more spam after this - just check WP:RDREG for updates, news, etc. flaminglawyerc 22:11, 5 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Oz Wiki Convention edit

Hey Steewi. I think I mentioned at the xkcd meet way back when that I was trying to organise a convention/conference-type event in Canberra around November. Well, the organising is on its way but I need some help. Could you drop me an email if you think you'd be interested in helping out?
