Hi Chris G,
I am a very new editor and I wanted to learn the background of Wikipedia before I started making significant edits. I am interested in the Hitler Youth and I noticed that you made the page semi-protected this past December. On the protection log the line mentioned there was anon vandalism. What is that, and how did it cause damage to the Hitler Youth page? It looked the bot only made three small edits.

- Hi @Grace1701, welcome to Wikipedia! I'm just passing through but might be able to help. (Chris, perhaps you could help with this GA bot issue?) You can find the page's protection logs here, or by clicking on the page's History tab, and then on "View logs for this page". Chris last protected the page in 2007, a long time ago. WP policies have changed in the last decade, but when a page is inundated with vandalism or other unproductive edits, editors can request page protection from an admin as a means for stabilizing the article. There is a balance between keeping the encyclopedia free (such that anyone can edit anonymously as an IP address), and keeping editing productive. Usually editors just revert vandalism and only request page protection when the issue recurs. You can read about the different protection levels at Wikipedia:Protection policy#Semi-protection.
