Germany portal selected article

I saw you edited the Selected article. Thank you for contributing to the Germany portal! Your help with the News and the NEw articles is most appreciated. As you might have noticed, we made some plans for the Germany portal at Portal talk:Germany and wanted to use only Featured-quality articles. There is a list at Portal:Germany/Selected articles and pictures of possible articles to select. It would be nice if you could suggest one of those at Portal talk:Germany so we have a new one ready for April. If you have any comments on the general format of the portal, I'd also like to hear them. I hope to be able to add some overview sections on geography, politics, history, and culture of Germany sometime soon. Kusma (討論) 20:32, 20 March 2006 (UTC)

If we lower the requirements on the articles, we could go to a weekly or biweekly schedule (also with auto-updates at the beginning of the new week), but right now we'd run out of sufficiently good articles too soon. Another possibility would be to add an extra "Selected biography" or something like that that could change with a different schedule and with different quality requirements. Or something else - quote of the week, or painting of the week, or recipe of the week - you can be creative :-). Right now, the only thing that really changes often is the Anniversaries section, which is currently done until April 14 (I think I'll manage to finish the entries for April before the end of March). Carabinieri, If the image is not available at a particular source, which is mostly website, then the source is worthless. In such cases status of the image copyright can not be verified. Either search for people/organisation who holds the copyright status. Most of the time websites do not hold the copyright status. You can contact one of the administrator of the website to find out the author of the image. If it is not done so, I am afraid of deletion of the image. Géza Hofi: a humorist?

Hi, you reverted my change [1], saying "humorist is much more specific". It may be specific, but according to the Wikipedia article humorist (redirected to "List of humorists"), it doesn't apply:

"A humorist is an author who specializes in short, humorous articles or essays."

Ten German Bombers

Hi, thanks for adding the Jungle World reference. However, I, for one, am still not very convinced that Clarke connected the song with possible legal consequences. As far as I can tell, the Jungle World is the only place claiming that and, while I cannot point to any other reason to assume that, I am quite tempted to suggest that their portrayal is due to a mistranslation or some other kind of error. In particular, all English sources which I have so far read do not make the connection, which, if it was true, would be quite odd, since it would certainly be interesting for English fans. Decimal separator

Perhaps I'm misunderstanding something, but the Decimal separator article is not covering Arabic and Persian languages and contains some wrong information (as I discussed in its discussion page) so it is an incomplete article, and possible a stub. cleanup

You put a cleanup tag on Ali Saleh Kahlah al-Marri back in February. But you didn't put a note on the talk page sayign what, exactly, you thought needed work. Would you mind taking a few minutes to do so now?

The way I see it, when people express their concern by putting a tag on an article, as you did, but then don't put a note on the talk page, explaining their concern, they leave the rest of us guessing when their concern is satisfied.

Evidence of my claim that the party's actual name is the Liberal Democrats, is supplied with the page, I added an image, the photograph of the document that registered the party in the government (the english version, of which I have an arabic one aswell)on this document it states the party name and leader Image:NewPartyDocument.jpg. This document also supports my claim, along with other documents I can provide that the party's leader's real name is Al-Samuel Hosein (Hussein) Othman Mansour.

If I understand correctly, your query is the reliability of the source I placed on the article. Its origins are direct from the hands of the party, also I am in posession of news paper articles(although they are in arabic and I believe one in French and another couple in another few European language) and further documents that could verify the document and back it. If question arises to the authenticity of the source, this: Image:NewPartyDocument.jpg. is the photograph of the original, arabic document that registered the Liberal Democrats. I have access to other authentic documents and news paper articles as such (although not many of which are in Arabic), if you wish, I can send some of these via e-mail directly to you. And yes, I am fully certain the party's name is the Liberal Democrats, for further evidence of this, I can provide sources produced by the party itself stating its own identity, again if you wish this can also be sent directly to you by e-mail, also the direct translation of that section of the party's name in Arabic is not 'Independant', but it is 'Free', or liberal. Also, I will add sources to the page as you have requested to help verify

Gewerkschaft der Polizei

Hi Carabinieri. I'm certainly OK with the idea of moving this to Trade Union of the Police. I'll defer to your opinion about which translation is best, (given I don't speak German :). I would note that "German Police Union" actually sounds like a union name, as opposed to a literal translation, but your logic makes sense to me.

The source I used for starting many of these articles often had both the native language name and a translation - but the translations for the DGB were clearly imprecise descriptions rather than true names. (eg. GEW was just education and science), so I stuck with the original names.

Just out of curiosity, would you move IG Metall and Ver.di to English traslations, given their prominence and the familiarity of the names?--Bookandcoffee 15:18, 16 September 2006 (UTC)

Yes both Hong Kong and Macao are part of the People's Republic of China, but Hong Kong, Macao and Mainland China are separate economies.
