Welcome! edit

Hello, Calum245! I welcome a lot of new school page authors to Wikipedia, and I would like to thank you for your contribution. Unfortunately, the page you created, at Institut Saint André, didn't quite work out according to the school page guidelines and it still needs your urgent attention. When you've made the fixes, you can take your time for the rest, so you'll want to read up on Your First Article and check out:

If you are still stuck, you can ask a question at the School help page or you can even ask me on my talk page. I hope you'll stay around and even help out on some other school project tasks. Happy editing! Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 11:21, 12 November 2011 (UTC) Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 11:21, 12 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Jonathan james anketell murray edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Jonathan james anketell murray requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. reddogsix (talk) 18:21, 18 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Stop adding hoaxes edit

. The article above, and what you added to articles such as Duke of Atholl and Clan Murray, were easily checked and found to be false. If you continue to add hoax information to Wikipedia, you may be blocked from editing without further warning. JohnCD (talk) 20:24, 18 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

You have been blocked from editing for a period of one week for disruptive editing - adding hoax information despite warning. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions. If you would like to be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. • Your school article shows that you can be serious; but for that, your block might have been indefinite. Forget about putting these silly hoaxes into Wikipedia - this is a serious encyclopedia, and one of its fundamental policies is Wikipedia:Verifiability: "all quotations and any material challenged or likely to be challenged must be attributed to a reliable, published source."
You have learned two things about Wikipedia now: an article about a suitable subject will be picked up and improved by other editors, as your school article has been. That's how the encyclopedia grows, by collaboration. You can see the improvements they have made, and learn from that how to write better articles. On the other hand, "anyone can edit" does not mean "anyone can put in whatever they like" - if you don't provide sources, people will look for them, and if they find there are none because what you posted is a hoax, it will be deleted. If there were not a lot of people doing that, Wikipedia would rapidly fill up with rubbish and would no longer be a useful encyclopedia.
I am guessing that you are still at school. If so, please read WP:Guidance for younger editors. Then, if you want to make constructive contributions after your block, read the links in the Welcome message above, and WP:Your first article, to learn more about contributing.
