Dino Bardot Suggestion edit

Wikipedia sets out the criteria as to whether a musician is considered notable or not under WP:MUSICBIO. It may be that Bardot satisfies criteria #6:

  • Is an ensemble that contains two or more independently notable musicians, or is a musician who has been a reasonably prominent member of two or more independently notable ensembles.

What is missing is significant coverage in reliable secondary sources about Bardot's roles/influences in his previous bands, as well as his role in Franz Ferdinand (apart from those mentions in passing about his joining the band in 2017). I've looked at the Wikipedia articles for both the 1990s and The Yummy Fur, both lack suitable referencing and clear indications as to what role Bardot played in either band or any of those band's recordings. If you can flesh any of these out it would provide sufficient weight to establishing Bardot's notability. Dan arndt (talk) 07:37, 15 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hi Dan Arndt, I added a source from the BBC talking about Bardot.

Thanks, Bxnzedrine (talk) 07:50, 15 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hi Dan Arndt, I noticed that you marked the citations next to the 1990s band as not having the information I mentioned. The citations mentioned that the 1990s did, in fact, release two albums under Rough Trade Records. Bxnzedrine (talk) 07:57, 15 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
Hi, you also marked that the citation stating that Alex and Paul were in The Yummy Fur didn’t have the information. It does. It says “The band [...] featured 1990s singer John [Jackie] McKeown alongside Franz Ferdinand drummer Paul Thompson and singer Alex Kapranos (playing bass and keyboards)” — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bxnzedrine (talkcontribs) 08:01, 15 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
I have moved your comments from my talkpage here, as it was getting too confusing. In answer to your comments:
  • The article states the Bardot’s band, the 1990s, released three albums and an EP under Rough Trade Records, however the cited reference only states that the band was a former artist on the label’s roster. Firstly it was not Bardot’s band and he only joined them in late 2007. Secondly the band only released two albums not three and thirdly the band’s debut album was released before he joined, so it is likely he only appeared on one of their releases.
  • Kapranos and Thompson were in The Yummy Fur but the statement has no relationship to Bardot. Bardot was a member of The Yummy Fur but the cited reference doesn’t collaborate that. So the inclusion of that statement doesn’t make much sense.
  • Bardot was only briefly a member of The Yummy Fur in 2017 and therefore not involved in any of the band’s recordings or having any influence/impact on the band.
As previously indicated you need to provide references which support your arguement that Bardot is notable. Not a number of references which state in 2017 he joined Franz Ferdinand as that in isolation does not make him notable and worthy of a Wikipedia article. Suggestion edit

I’ve thought seriously about your efforts to create an adequate article for Dino Bardot, so I’ve created an alternative, User:Bxnzedrine/sandbox/Dino Bardot, it just needs references. I just haven’t got around to that yet. If you help we can replace the existing one with this one, which I’m confident would stand up as being notable. Dan arndt (talk) 01:49, 18 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hi Dan Arndt, thank you so much for making this happen! Your article is amazing! I know where to find sources for each fact. What would make my source a reliable one?

Again, thank you so much, Bxnzedrine (talk) 02:01, 18 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

You’re welcome, just wanted you to know that not everyone on Wikipedia is out to delete additions of new editors. Most of the time it’s all about adding what is notable/factual, and making sure it’s properly referenced. You might be better trying to improve some existing articles, getting the hang of it before trying to add new articles. That’s the way I started. You might want to look at 1990s (band), which needs a lot of work. Good luck and happy editing. Dan arndt (talk) 03:55, 18 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
