Request reason:

I was trying to edit the June Jordan page this evening and while I have been able to edit before suddenly there was a flag saying that I could not edit. Please tell me what to do. I am editing from my account. B17 00:15, 26 December 2013 (UTC)

Decline reason:

The rangeblock is working as intended. —DoRD (talk) 11:56, 26 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Should I post this instead? {{unblock-auto|1=ip address|2=autoblock message|3=blocking admin}}

I'm not seeing a block on your account either directly or through an autoblock. Maybe log out, log back in, and see what happens when you go to the page again? only (talk) 00:27, 26 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

Thank you -- I just logged out and logged back in to the June Jordan page and tried to edit and this is what it said:

You are currently unable to edit Wikipedia. You are still able to view pages, but you are not currently able to edit, move, or create them. Editing from 69.80.96.0/20 has been blocked (disabled) by Kww for the following reason(s): Server-multiple.svg The IP address that you are currently using has been blocked because the IP range you are editing from is a web host provider. Since your IP acts like a proxy, because it hides your IP address, it has been blocked. To prevent abuse, these IPs may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. If you do not have any other way to edit Wikipedia, you will need to request an IP Block Exemption. If this is the case, please request to be unblocked using the {{unblock}} template, and provide a clear reason why you need to use a webhost. If you would prefer to do so in confidentiality, please contact functionaries at functionaries-en@lists.wikimedia.org. Furthermore, your IP address may also be blocked because there are proxies on it. Admins: Before applying IPBE, a checkuser needs to take a look at the account. This can be requested most easily at SPI Quick Checkuser Requests. Unblocking an IP or IP range with this template is highly unrecommended without at least contacting the blocking administrator. This block has been set to expire: 14:49, 2014 December 24. Even if blocked, you will usually still be able to edit your user talk page and email other editors and administrators.

So I can't edit for a whole year? B17 00:44, 26 December 2013 (UTC)

Looks like your IP address is blocked. I've made a request at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet_investigations#Bseventeen_caught_in_range_block. Hopefully someone will take action soon. only (talk) 00:53, 26 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

{{unblock | reason=your reason here B17 18:38, 26 December 2013 (UTC)}} Hi -- my account worked well this morning but now it's not? What is a range block? Was this because of the June Jordan edit I made this morning? Could someone please explain what I should do, if anything.B17 18:38, 26 December 2013 (UTC) thank you!

Blocked

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for block evasion. This account appears to belong to a member of the group of editors that has been disrupting the Martha Nell Smith article, including the use of webhosts as anonymizing proxies.. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the following text below this notice: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}. However, you should read the guide to appealing blocks first.

Dear KWW, I have no idea who Martha Nell Smith but I just looked her up. I'm sure someone is mistaken; I have never been to her page before just now. I'm about to go out of town and won't edit again until Sunday but I'd like to go look at the Maya Angelou page again, which is not very good yet. Did something I do trigger something with another page? Cross my heart I have not been there. I have edited Maya Angelou, June Jordan, and two other poets of color. Could I start editing again on Sunday? B17 21:33, 26 December 2013 (UTC)

Dear KWW, I would like to edit on Sunday. COuld you tell me if I will be unblocked by then? I am not part of an editing group or any group except my church. Did my editing of June Jordan cause the problem? Please tell me what to do or not do. Can I edit on Sunday again?
No, you're not going to be able to edit again on any day. The block on this account is long term based on the evidence that Kww found. only (talk) 16:53, 27 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
But what am I going to tell my friends? We were going to go through the poets of color pages and make them better. What did I do wrong? I don't understand what I did wrong? Can someone explain?
I am going through this page Wikipedia:Guide_to_appealing_blocks trying to figure out what to do. User:Kww can you please help? I am not part of any editing group and I don't know how to appeal because I don't know what I did wrong. I didn't vandalize, I wasn't impolite, I didn't do anything except get rid of the bisexual word.

I am so sorry I don't know what to do so I am trying this again. I don't have anything to do with any vandalism or Martha Smith or anything. Please let me edit my pages under my account like I had been before? I have obeyed rules and do not know what happened.

It is less to do with the details of your edits and more to do with some technical aspects. You don't have to go into too much personally-identifying detail, but can you explain to me exactly what kind of software you are using to access Wikipedia with? What kind of place you are editing from?—Kww(talk) 18:29, 27 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
Hi bless you! The main part of the tme I am at home (an apartment) and sometimes at my friend's and sometimes at my boyfriend's (but I don't think I have gone on line much except for work related thingys). I use Safari and sometimes Chrome. I have his old MacPro. He has lots of software that i don't know so I don't know exactly what you mean by technical. Does it matter whether I use Safari or Chrome? Because there was the time I was fine and then blocked and then unblocked and always blocked B17 21:30, 27 December 2013 (UTC)
I just texted my friend where I did most of the editing on her computer and she said sometimes online there they get wifi from the tax office downstairs (she knew the reception and got the password? when they first moved in) and sometimes the computer remembers it.B17 21:41, 27 December 2013 (UTC)
