Proposed deletion of Stuart Sinclair

edit

The article Stuart Sinclair has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this newly created biography of a living person will be deleted unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Proposed deletion of Stuart Sinclair

edit

The article Stuart Sinclair has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Footballer who has never played in a fully professional league – Bristol Rovers play in the Conference National, which isn't fully pro – so fails the football-specific notability guideline; not enough non-trivial media coverage to satisfy the general notability guideline

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Infobox dates

edit

Hi, when updating club stats in the infobox you should update the |pcupdate= or |club-update= parameter by adding five tildes (~~~~~), which generates the specific time the update was made. Thanks, Mattythewhite (talk) 21:21, 19 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

Please keep this in mind. Mattythewhite (talk) 23:15, 22 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

Updating infoboxes

edit

If you look at a footballer's infobox, you'll see it says at the bottom "Senior club appearances and goals counted for the domestic league only and correct as of" and then a date or date/time. The stats and the date come as a pair: it's no good bringing the stats up to date if you leave the correct-as-of date set to several weeks ago, or before a player even joined the club... The way to update the stats is:

  1. wait till the game's finished, to be sure it doesn't get abandoned, in which case the player's appearances and goals would get abandoned as well;
  2. don't just add 1 to what's already there: stats aren't always either up-to-date or accurate, so check with an appropriate reliable source such as Soccerbase or Soccerway to see what the correct figures should be;
  3. update the timestamp parameter, which is called |club-update= or sometimes still by the old name of |pcupdate=, to a date or date/time unambiguously after the end of the match. The easy way is to replace the contents of the parameter with five tildes, so the row reads
|club-update = ~~~~~
which the system will automatically convert to the current date/time.

Hope this helps, Struway2 (talk) 07:43, 19 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

  Hello, I'm Mattythewhite. I noticed that you made a change to an article, John-Joe O'Toole, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so! If you need guidance on referencing, please see the referencing for beginners tutorial, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you.   Please stop your disruptive editing, as you did at Nicklas Bendtner. Your edits have been reverted or removed.

Do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive until the dispute is resolved through consensus. Continuing to edit disruptively may result in your being blocked from editing.

I think you know very well that infobox club stats are for regular season league matches only – you've certainly been told often enough – and that when you update the stats, you need to update the as-of date to match. Please try to co-operate. Thank you for listening. Struway2 (talk) 09:06, 13 September 2015 (UTC) Reply
