Speedy deletion nomination of Draft:StartLife edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Draft:StartLife, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Odd administrative behavior Hi, first my page was speedily removed, to which I objected. Then my objection, which I believe had valid arguments, was not followed up with a written response to the arguments but a complete by a block of my account. In compliance with the Wikipedia rules I have been been honest about my relation to the page I was creating. I have seen -and mentioned- similar pages, but still mine was removed and my account banned. It is quite upsetting to see how other administrators/contributors behave on wikipedia. Objections to (speedy) page deletion edit

Dear Giraffer (talk·contribs) I object to the deletion of this page. Many pages on wikipedia concern information about organizations, both commercial and non-profit. I see organizations similar to StartLife with a wikipedia page, including Y Combinator and HighTechXL. I have written the page in the same line as Y Combinator. Deletion of this page seems highly random if not discriminative.

August 2021 edit

Hello, Brammos. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you.--VVikingTalkEdits 13:48, 26 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing because your account is being used only for advertising or promotion.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Bbb23 (talk) 13:55, 26 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

I've added a page about a (non-profit!) organisation, I have written it in line with other similar pages and have avoided, or tried to, promotional text. In lines with wikipedia rules, I have declared my relation to the page. I have objected to the removal of the page, as it seems discriminative to remove a page about an organisation that is similar to other organisations that do have a page on wikipedia. I also feel it is highly inappropiate to immediately block a contributor when making objections to the removal of its page. Happy to engage in discussion and respectively learn how to set up the page (more) in line with wikipedia rules, in case that I had not done that already. Brammos (talk) 14:42, 26 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

I'd be interested to know which other articles you used as a model, as those articles may need to have action taken on them as well. Please read other stuff exists. As this is a volunteer project where people do what they can when they can, it is possible for inappropriate articles to get by us. We can only address what we know about. These other articles you have seen could also be inappropriate. If you want to use other articles as a model, make sure they are classified as good articles or higher.

Wikipedia does not treat nonprofits any differently than for profits. All articles about an organization must summarize what independent reliable sources with significant coverage have chosen on their own to say about it, showing how it meets Wikipedia's special definition of a notable organization. Wikipedia has no interest in what an organization wants to say about itself or what it considers to be its own history, only in what others completely unconnected with the subject choose to say about it. You won't be unblocked to, in the short term, edit about your organization. If that is your only goal here, this is the end of the road for your Wikipedia career. If you want to be a general contributor and edit about topics unrelated to your conflict of interest, please tell what those might be. I am declining your request. 331dot (talk) 16:06, 26 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

It's fairly moot now that your appeal was declined, but in future pinging me is the best way to get my attention – I only just saw your comment to me now. Giraffer (talk·contribs) 19:07, 26 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Sad and disappointed edit

User:331dot, @331dot:, Sad to hear my account is blocked indefinitely. Also that my other contributions have been made undone. For example, earlier I had added a list of municipalities, inclusive of their current number of inhabitants -which I looked up first-, of Food Valley. Apparently that is considered promotion as well??? If this is already promotion, then the Silicon_Valley page or at least much of the information on there should be removed as well. But, of course you won't do that. Wikipedia seems far from unbiased. What information is allowed on Wikipedia and what not seems to be highly random. That is truly sad and disappointing. With regard to the page I added myself, I wrote it in line with similar pages, like Y combinator, HighTechXL, and ProVeg Incubator. StartLife is not allowed to have a page, but many others are, just check Category:Startup_accelerators. This seems highly discriminative to me. I also don't see how I can contribute to Wikipedia (further), if everything is so random and genuine efforts are made undone by others. (Brammos (talk) 07:12, 27 August 2021 (UTC))Reply

Aside for three or so gnoming edits, your contributions so far have constituted spam and thus you have been blocked accordingly. We take no preference in having pages on one subject/company or another: the page you created was not deleted because it was about StartLife, but because it was spam. Wikipedia is not a platform for marketing or advertising. Giraffer (talk·contribs) 08:23, 27 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
Each article is judged on its own merits; the existence of other articles is not relevant. At least one of the articles you mention is problematic and I've marked it as such, thank you. I realize this seems random to you, but as we are all volunteers we can only address what we know about. 331dot (talk) 09:34, 27 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • Brammos, you are not permitted to remove the declined unblock request per WP:BLANKING. If you do so again, your access to this page will be revoked.--Bbb23 (talk) 11:25, 27 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Bbb23 How crazy is this? You delete all my contributions and you block my account. Hence, there is absolutely not a single valid reason to keep my user account. I don't need the declined unblock request to be removed, i want my full user account to be deleted. Utterly crazy, that this request (demand) is being contested as well. Please have some dignity, and just comply. #gdpr Brammos (talk) 11:43, 27 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Except in very rare cases, not applicable here, we do not delete user Talk pages; nor are accounts deleted.--Bbb23 (talk) 11:54, 27 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
