You have been blocked indefinitely from editing certain namespaces ((Article) and Draft) for Copyright violations.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Moneytrees🏝️Talk/CCI guide 23:14, 13 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

When I gave my warning earlier today, I asked in the subject line that you "please acknowledge this"; you "acknowledged" it by archiving your talk page with no comment. This is very concerning given your 37k edits and previous warnings, communication is vital with copyright issues and serious harm can happen to the project if they are unaddressed. After seeing that I decided to look further through your other recent edits, where I found large overquoting from https://www.nytimes.com/1992/07/14/sports/tv-sports-blimps-and-basecams-cause-fans-to-lose-sight-of-game.html and some sentences copied from https://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:JGfdKrnSu_wJ:https://www.baltimoresun.com/news/bs-xpm-1993-07-11-1993192137-story.html+&cd=4&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us on Major League Baseball on CBS, and sentences taken from https://www.nydailynews.com/hc-xpm-1995-10-26-9510260433-story.html on The Baseball Network. This is clearly an ongoing issue so I have blocked you to prevent further damage to articles. Moneytrees🏝️Talk/CCI guide 23:31, 13 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

Yesterday, I made an honest error in judgement and oversight in my edits of the Major League Baseball on NBC article. I referenced an article from the New York Times in 1999 pertaining to NBC's coverage of the that year's baseball postseason and used phrasing that was a little too close to what was used in the article. I have read through Wikipedia's copyright guidelines, and will to the best of my abilities, make sure that this doesn't happen going forward.

Accept reason:

Per discussion below. If you have any later questions or are unsure about whether something is too closely phrased to a source, please ask me or another admin in Category:Wikipedia administrators willing to investigate copyright matters. Moneytrees🏝️Talk/CCI guide 20:00, 16 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

I'm thinking of accepting this unblock, you clearly care about the site and you have been attributing content copied in between articles. However, before I do that I want to make the violations clear so they won't happen again. I've bolded the parts of the Major League Baseball on NBC edit that were identical to the source:

"By this time, NBC revamped their score box, which was in the lower right-hand corner of the screen. For their coverage of the 1999 postseason, the box contained a diamond showing where the bases were, the ball-and-strike count and pitch speed. It was therefore, packed with more information than it was in the prior two postseasons. The box however, still stayed on screen only between pitches, leaving the air before the ball is hit. In contrast, the box was a near-constant presence in baseball games broadcast on Fox, ESPN, and most local outlets. During the National League Championship Series between the Braves and Mets, NBC changed its style slightly, by adding additional tight close-ups to heighten the tension of the games. NBC's baseball production as a whole led by producer David Neal and director Andy Rosenberg, strived to make the broadcast a blend of letting the games breathe, without a surfeit of fast-moving cuts and graphics. Instead, NBC planned on putting up the enhancements they figured viewers expect, like flashbacks to a previous at-bat, or pitch sequences."

Your edit to Oswald Cobblepot (Batman Returns) was also not a direct paste and instead had several identical phrases, if you want to see a comparison for that as well I could show you. I understand that it's hard to avoid similarities to sources, especially when it comes to sports, but there are several phrases and words from the source that didn't need to be included in the article. When writing something in your own words, my advice is to try and "cut the fat" and write what is the most important information in the source, and then including extra information. There's a few other methods; Diannaa recommends to read over the source material and then pretend I am verbally describing the topic to a friend in my own words. Stuff should also be presented in a different order where possible. Summarize rather than paraphrase. I also recommend reading Wikipedia:Close_paraphrasing#How to write acceptable content if you haven't already. If you can indicate you're able to avoid close paraphrasing I will unblock. If you have any additional requests/questions please ask. Moneytrees🏝️Talk/CCI guide 06:45, 15 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Moneytrees: I have just read the link about how to write acceptable content. I understand that I should not be too extensive in my phrasing (and to be more concise) and to work harder to make the information sound like it is in my own words instead of taking what was from the reference verbatim. I'm still learning my way around Wikipedia after all of this time, and I strive every day to be a better writer and editor. I'm an information junkie, and I try to do my best to serve the the public with whatever I can find. Again, my sincerest apologizes, for my carelessness over the manner of which, I edited that particular article. BornonJune8, 9:02, 15 April 2021 (UTC)

Note that I will be starting a Contributor copyright investigation, which will review your previous edits for copyright violations. Moneytrees🏝️Talk/CCI guide 20:06, 16 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Link dump edit

Your edit to the film article Bless the Child caused a lot of problems,[1] I have attempted to cleanup some of them.

If you intend to continue editing Wikipedia you must learn why that edit was full of problems and try not do any of that again.

The main problem was that you added an excessive amount of references, too many. (Most were unnecessary, some did not appear to be relevant at all, and others were unreliable sources that should best be avoided, see WP:RSPS.) Please look at how other Wikipedia articles do it, particularly ones marked as "Good Article" or "Featured Article" quality. If you don't understand there are places such as WP:TEAHOUSE where you can ask more questions.

Please do not attempt to use Google Cache links in Wikipedia again. If a link is dead try to find a different source. Otherwise you are going to need to learn a whole lot about WP:DEADREF and how to fix dead links.

While you are waiting for your ban to be lifted I would strongly encourage you to read more of the many many guidelines. -- 109.76.137.231 (talk) 03:33, 24 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Note for IP user 2600:1700:4300:2C8F.x.x.x.x edit

While it's good that you want to improve project pages and are seeking assistance to that end, I would suggest that you instead post such requests on the specific article talk pages, using the template: {{Edit semi-protected}}. This is the preferred method for several reasons and is likely to provide a faster and better outcome. You can still request assistance from BornonJune8 specifically, using the template {{Ping}} at the same time.

On a separate note, I would also suggest that if you were to create an account, you would be able to edit articles yourself (soon if not immediately), along with all the other benefits having your own account provides. FYI - wolf 05:42, 9 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

@IP user 2600.etc., Did you notice the message left for you above, about these edit requests? - wolf 21:22, 9 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
Well OK. Fine. Also on the WDJT-TV page, get "NBC", "WTMJ-TV", "CBS" and "WITI-TV" linked. --2600:1700:4300:2C8F:38B1:9C59:BB55:9292 (talk) 21:24, 9 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
@IP user 2600.etc., You write "Well OK. Fine" which most people would use to indicate they understood the preceding comment, but then you go to (rudely) demand more edits, which tells you didn't.

So I'll ask again; did you read the message posted to you above? It both instructs you on how to properly post edit requests (eg: on the article talk page, not on a user's talk page) and also encourages you to create your own account, so that you can make these edits yourself. Additionally, I have just gone to WDJT-TV, to see if you had posted an edit request on the talk page, only to find the page is not protected, meaning you can make these edits yourself, and furthermore... you've already edited that page! So why don't you just link "NBC", "WTMJ-TV", "CBS" and "WITI-TV" yourself? - wolf 22:25, 9 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hey edit

Can I have asked him to help with 1983 in American television forgetting to link Denver and Nashville and 1988 in American television forgetting to link WDJT-TV in Milwuakee. --2600:1700:4300:2C8F:38B1:9C59:BB55:9292 (talk) 02:33, 11 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

@IP user 2600.etc., Neither of those pages is protected, so why can't you make the edits yourself? If you don't know how, you can ask for assistance on the article talk page (via) an edit request. I'm not sure why you keep coming here to demand this one editor make various changes for you, but barring you doing them yourself, any requests or discussions regarding article content should be on the article's talk page, not an individual user talk page. - wolf 02:56, 11 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

Bruh, I forgot to get 1979 in American television, 1980 in American television, 1981 in American television, 1982 in American television, 1994 in American television and 1998 in American television to get links for Phoenix, Milwuakee, Tampa and Orlando. --2600:1700:4300:2C8F:8571:9BF7:DA0F:BE7C (talk) 02:24, 17 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

@BornonJune8, this is your talk page, do you have any response to this IP hopper that keeps demanding you make all the strange edits? - wolf 10:23, 17 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Thewolfchild: I don't know what else I should do since you pretty much said all that needed to be said about the manner. I too don't know why this particular editor keeps asking me to assist them if the articles in question aren't protected. I suppose that my response is that I feel that I shouldn't have to do favors for other editors when it's apparent, that they can easily do it themselves. 11:07, 17 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
