Managing a conflict of interest
editHello, Blunatic28. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Draft:Christina Georgiou, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{edit COI}} template);
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest § How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam § External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. DoubleGrazing (talk) 18:17, 8 December 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks for the additional information, I will disclose the COI tomorrow. I will make sure the citations are all valid and acceptable and the info is accurate and not embellished. The COI regulations are very reasonable, though in cases where there is COI but the article is well documented, they do potentially exclude people, organizations etc originating from smaller or underrepresented communities from being listed on wikipedia. 216.241.151.191 (talk) 18:48, 8 December 2023 (UTC)
- The COI regulations are not there to exclude anyone or anything. They are there to require you to disclose your COI, and once you've done that, the AfC procedures are then there to help you get your article published, where possible.
- BTW, please remember to log into your account when editing, including when commenting on talk pages. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 18:55, 8 December 2023 (UTC)
- Hello again, I have declared the COI on the Talk panel of the draft, I do hope I have done it correctly. Thank you again for your time. Wishing you a lovely weekend! Blunatic28 (talk) 17:07, 9 December 2023 (UTC)
