My submitted article on National Building Agency

edit

Hi, I had difficulties so re-tried but still some issues bounces this article back. It does contain two references, both to Hansard, the official record of the UK Parliament. I was hoping these were strong enough. BillTheDiver (talk) 14:08, 28 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

My submitted article on National Building Agency (2nd attempt to talk)

edit

I seem to have rid my article of incorrect references. I'm not sure what is meant about no article is formatting like this.

As for citations, the NBA having gone some decades before the internet and not so far as I know having featured in any modern history of building there I fear none are available, and what there are may be incorrect. However NBA published books and one is available on Amazon UK 'Common Building Defects'.

I did hope to provide citations to Geoffrey Rippon and to Michael (Lord) Heseltine's entry in Wikipedia but have not been able master how to do this. If an editor could do this I would be grateful.

I would have hoped that two references made to Hansard being the official record of the UK parliament would be suitable. I worked at their London office on Arundel Street for six years so I know it existed but recognise you can't just take my word!

(Interestingly a National Building Agency existed in the Republic of Ireland but that is different.)

Kind regards, Jeffery Smith js@jsa-london.com. BillTheDiver (talk) 14:27, 28 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hi BillTheDiver. Yes, the section discussing the objectives of the NBA is fine regarding references. However, I do not see any references relating to the section about the NBA's work. In addition, I would to address some matters of style and formatting in the draft. I'll assume you want the line saying 'NBA's WORK' to be a section. To do this, place two equals signs on each side of what you want to be the section, so ==Operations==. I've renamed it to operations, because we wouldn't usually refer to the subject of the article in the section header, and simply referring it as work without the NBA part is a bit vague. Also, as as I stated as part of the decline reason and there are no 'wikilinks' in the article. You can see these on your signature in this section. To link something, place two square brackets on each side of what you want to link -- Michael Heseltine might be a good start (it's in the article). I could all do this myself but I would like to see you learn.   Thanks, My name isnotdave (talk/contribs) 14:42, 28 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
You posted this halfway through me writing me reply, no worries about that. So concerning references, I think it's entirely possible to dig something up. If not, then there will be something about the National Building Agency, I ought to think, and then the article can be based upon that. At the end of the day, the truthful purpose of Wikipedia to just to repeat what reliable sources say. I'll have my own look later, bit difficult now on a 5 and a half inch screen. My name isnotdave (talk/contribs) 14:47, 28 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

Disappointed

edit

I am disappointed that my article on the UK National Building Agency (1963-1981) was not published by Wikipedia last year. With the Grenfell Inquiry underway this year it is of national if not international significance. Bill the Diver, August 2018.
