April 2019 edit

There have been two problems with this account: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business or other organisation or group or a web site, which is also against policy, as an account must be for just one person. Because of those problems, the account has been blocked indefinitely from editing. Additionally, If you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for your contributions to Wikipedia, you must disclose who is paying you to edit.

If you intend to make useful contributions about some topic other than your business or organisation, you may request an unblock. To do so, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:CentralAuth to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy. Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In that reason, you must:

  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block. To do so, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page, replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason for thinking that the block was an error, and publish the page. Request reason:

This is my first time contributing as an editor and article creator. I am ready to review feedback and review the wording and the sources of my article. Beyond that, I wasn't aware of how the username would create a violation. I happily requested a rename. Please reconsider my block, as I am new and just learning without proper guidance or help. Thank you BiP Messenger (talk) 20:30, 19 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

I don't feel comfortable unblocking you at this time unless there is a subject other than apps that you want to edit about. Whether you work for the producer of this app(or any app) or not, you seem to be here to spread the word about them, which is considered promotional. You are free to make another unblock request to attempt to convince another administrator to unblock you without that condition, but I am declining this request. 331dot (talk) 23:58, 19 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

  • Hi, BiP Messenger. Your unblock request was perfectly formatted at first, but adding the nowiki code broke it, so that it could no longer call an uninvolved admin to this page. I've fixed it for you. (Look at the bottom of the page — now it's back in the category "Requests for unblock", which is necessary if uninvolved admins are going to see it.)
I'll leave the unblock request to an uninvolved admin. But you may want to note that I've deleted your draft, since it was pure advertising. "BiP has been enhancing the lives of tens of millions of users with its innovative features", etc. Bishonen | talk 20:58, 19 April 2019 (UTC).Reply
  • Thank you for your feedback. As you can see, I'm very new to this and I am making mistakes, but learning in the process. I am waiting for my username change to be approved, and will revise the article to make it more objective with credible resources. Thanks again. BiP Messenger
  • You need to propose a new username as instructed in the block notice. You will also need to review conflict of interest and paid editing. You won't be unblocked if you are just going to edit in the area of your conflict of interest. What do you want to edit about instead if unblocked? 331dot (talk) 21:44, 19 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
  • I believe I proposed the username kevadato on a separate page and I saw it is currently under review. I don't work for BiP, I am not being paid by anyone to write the article. My edits would replace subjective language with citable, objective words. The citations would also be improved to preserve objectivity. BiP Messenger
Are there other subjects that you are interested in editing about? 331dot (talk) 22:31, 19 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
Nothing immediately. Maybe in the future once I get more comfortable and have more experience editing I would like to contribute by editing and writing about Apps developed in Turkey (BiP being one of them). As Wikipedia is banned in Turkey, locals don't get a chance to use or contribute to the site, so most information isn't up to date.BiP Messenger
I understand your reasoning, but respectively I think the decision to block me is a bit aggressive. Especially given that it's my first entry and I'm trying to learn by myself. Apps I gave as an example since I'm most familiar with the subject. Beyond apps, I am happy to and willing to contribute in any subject matter relevant to Turkey for the reasons stated above: the website is banned in the country so unless pages are written and updated from abroad, locals are unable to contribute with the most up to date news and information on any subject. Thank you for your understanding.BiP Messenger
As I said, you are free to make a new unblock request, which will be reviewed by a different administrator, to convince them to unblock you; if they see merit in doing so, I will not stand in the way(though I do not speak for the blocking administrator). 331dot (talk) 00:11, 20 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

To whom it may concern, I have attempted to publish a Wikipedia article on an app I found quite interesting. The page was taken down and I was blocked, as my username was that of the app's (to my ignorance). I understand the reasons why I was blocked, and why my first unblock request was denied. In my attempt to convince you, having better understood how wikipedia works, I simply want to state that I don't work for anyone. I like following trends in Turkish tech, but as Wikipedia is blocked there (I live abroad), most new apps and tech lack a page. If my unblock request is accepted, I will stay away from promotional language. I acknowledge how it sounds from the outside, but I assumed the feedback to revise an article would be less harsh and more constructive. I am happy to use more objective language and more credible resources. Please consider that this is indeed my first time attempting this with no help or guidance. And although I read the rules, I simply didn't understand the review process and definitely didn't anticipate a ban. With respect to my username, I believe I already made a request to have it change to kevadato. I initially thought that the username had to match that of the article you were writing about, hence the silly mistake. Beyond apps, I am willing to contribute in articles I find myself knowledgable about within the boundaries of Turkey. I foresee contributing in sports, mainly soccer, as well as contributing in editing pages about Turkish movies. Thank you for your consideration. Happy to answer questions.
