Computervertailing

Hi. Some kind of error or test gone wrong caused your article Computervertaling to look like nonsense. If it was intended as an actual article you may want to revisit it. - Tεxτurε 16:24, 9 Jul 2004 (UTC)

Request assistance if possible

edit

Hi Bemoeial, I saw your link to the Soharto article, and it suddenly occurred to me that someone in Holland might be able to help with a research effort if you would be willing? I have an associate who has been working on a doctoriate regarding the commerical interests involved before, during, and after the Indonesian occupation of East Timor -- before this he did attempt to look into Sukarno's history but found that all copies of Sukarno's pre-war (WW-II) books & publications had been removed from Jakarta. It was only when I told him what I'd found in a book written at Queensland University (Australian) that he understood why these pre-war publications had been removed.

But there should be records in Holland about the details of why Sukarno had been arrested & sentenced twice for sedition & hopefully copies of some of his writtings.

This is actually quite an important request if you could be willing to check for Dutch records on Sukarno, as it would hopefully be in time to be included in my ICUSIR project http://members.optushome.com.au/icusir/ -- in short an effort to send a report to the US Congress so that they at last have something in writting pointing at reasons why they should not be supporting Indonesia and refluting the current Indonesian lobby groups nonsense about Indonesia benefiting South East Asia stability and US long term interests. -- I would like to confirm the kind of words which Sukarno used (e.g. did he refer to the US as 'Imperial Western Power' etc. and was he trying to encourage the Japanese to attack Western Powers?), and would like to be able to tell the US Congress that their Aids can verify such books at some location.

You can email me via my User Page

I'm afraid I do not know much about the Sukarno history. I guess the will be some manuscripts (in dutch) that may be helpful, but I haven't been able to google them up very quickly (search for soekarno instead of sukarno and other dutch keywords). Bemoeial 23:30, 2 Sep 2004 (UTC)

Article Licensing

edit

Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 1000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:

To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" template into their user page, but there are other options at Template messages/User namespace. The following examples could also copied and pasted into your user page:

Option 1
I agree to multi-license all my contributions, with the exception of my user pages, as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

OR

Option 2
I agree to multi-license all my contributions to any U.S. state, county, or city article as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

Or if you wanted to place your work into the public domain, you could replace "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" with "MultiLicensePD". If you only prefer using the GFDL, I would like to know that too. Please let me know what you think at my talk page. It's important to know either way so no one keeps asking. -- Ram-Man (comment| talk)

GFDL of my images.

edit

Hi! The reason behind me asking people to inform me before putting my work on commons is because basically none of my work is published in anything other than British English, so it has limited use on other versions of wikipedia. It's not so much a licensing criteria as under the GFDL I can't really do that, I guess its more a polite request for people to let me know. Equally its so I know which versions of my work are where. If I have an image on commons and here under the same file name and size, I get nasty automated messages and my image here gets removed and replaced with the commons version. It then all becomes very hard to keep track of as you can imaging with 20 odd high profile images.Additionally I spend about as much time babysitting my work as I do making it these days :(. My interest is the English wikipedia so I'm not really prepared to release non-english versions of the images. However if you wish me to put any of them on commons for use on the dutch wiki i'm quite happy to do that, and upload them through my commons account. Were there any specific images you had in mind? Thanks, hope this helps. WikipedianProlific(Talk) 15:27, 16 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Oh in addition to all that I should mention that in the last fortnight after one of my images was featured theres suddenly been a lot of interest in what I do. One of the things I'm doing now to save me work in the long run is to establish some criteria to which all my drawings will follow. I'm likely to make on of these that text wont be overlaid on the image, so it can easily be replaced by non-english speaking users in their own wikis. I'm not going to use numbers to label parts though, Its simply bad practise and looks awful. So in the future more of my work will be non-en wiki compatabile. Hope this helps. WikipedianProlific(Talk) 15:32, 16 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
I found Image:Hemorrhoid.png in search for images to be used on nl:Aambei. Your suggestion regarding overlaying of text and images would be a significant improvement for international use of high-quality illustrations! Please keep me posted ;-) - Bemoeial 11:05, 17 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Request for edit summary

edit

When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labeled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field, especially for big edits or when you are making subtle but important changes, like changing dates or numbers. Thank you. – Oleg Alexandrov (talk) 02:13, 17 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Speedy delete tag on one of your images

edit

Just to let you know that I've tagged an image you've uploaded Image:Theobald Boehm.jpg for speedy deletion on the grounds that it is a duplicate of an image already on Wikipedia, Image:Boehm2.jpg, which is already in use on the Theobald Boehm article. If I've got this wrong, please let me know. Best wishes, Bencherlite 21:04, 18 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

License for Image:TurksEnCaicosLocatie.png

Your Image:TurksEnCaicosLocatie.png
Your Image:TurksEnCaicosLocatie.png

Move to commons representation

The image TurksEnCaicosLocatie.png is a candidate to be copied to the Wikimedia Commons. When you uploaded this image, you licensed it for use under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL). On behalf of the Wikipedia and Commons communities, thank you. However, the GFDL requires that reproductions of the image (and any other GFDL-licenced works), must be accompanied by the full text of the GFDL. The GFDL is intended more for documentation and not images, so downstream re-users may be hindered by additional restrictions of the GFDL which may not work well on the use of one image.

Before I copy this image to the Commons, I wanted to ask whether you would be willing to multilicense your work under an additional license, such as a Creative Commons licence. Creative Commons licences, such as the Attribution Share-Alike license provide a similar copyleft permission to the GFDL, but without some of its requirements such as the distribution of the licence text. All you need to do, is place the additional license tag alongside your current license. Users can choose between which one they want to use the image under. There are many free licenses accepted on Wikipedia and Commons which can provide freedoms similar to the GFDL, but without some of its requirements.

You are under no obligation whatsoever to alter the license. Doing so merely cooperates with those members of the community who believe that multilicensing your work can ease the reuse of images outside of Wikipedia.

If you use a GFDL license tag which requires distribution of Wikipedia's general disclaimer (indicated by "Subject to disclamiers" in the template), it is also suggested that you switch it to one which does not apply them.

Whether or not you choose to dual-license your work, thank you for your consideration.

Please also see Wikipedia:Copyrights and Wikipedia:Moving images to the Commons for more information.
