Ireland cricket team

Hi, I've noticed the work you've put into the article on the Ireland cricket team and that you're the person with most edits to the article. I'm currently trying to improve the article, adding references and fleshing out the prose, with half an eye on taking it to GA. I think it's possible as the team does not have an overly detailed history and the most notable events are fairly recent. Would you be interested in helping? Irish National Cycling Championships

Hi! On 4 May 2009, you added Seamus Elliot as winner of 1954 and 1955 of the Irish National Cycling Championships. Now somebody else claims that in 1955 it was Bart Sharkey who won. If you have time, can you come to the discussion and tell us where you have your information from? I tried to find it on the internet, but I could not find any results for 1954 nor 1955. A search on Irish Newspaper Archive showed Bart Sharkey as the 1955 winner. Elliott's wiki page shows him winning in 1953 and that he did not race in Ireland in 1954. So Donal O Connell may be wrong for 1953. Back to the research we go. I am 46.7.141.6. The year end list of championship winners left out the MS championship in both the NCA and CRE/NICF. Will check the Indo in the next few days. Hello SOH (a.k.a. 46.7.141.6, I created this page from scratch, initially for the more recent history. Thankfully I got a good bit of help for the older results. As you see we are missing a lot of results & the older results may not be 100% accuracte so amend where you think appropriate. Fair play to you for the research you're doing here. Got it. Elliot won in 1953 and 4, Bart Sharkey in 1955. Donal O Connell won the CRE champs in 1953 but not the national46.7.141.6 (talk) 17:07, 8 October 2013 (UTC)

Hello Battapieman, I have registered a name now, I was 46.7.141.6. I have made some changes to road racing. Have a look at them and if you do not like them you can adjust as you see fit. The research is so tedious that I do not have the energy to record the first three for years back and cannot figure out how to include 2 championships each year with three names on each and yet have a table that is legible at a glance. maybe you have a better idea than I have. Cycling Ireland have no records but the President, Rory Wiley, has done some research which is included here. I think that it is great that you started this. Bravo. I have added more information into the mens' amateur and elite time trial but I am not happy with the layout. Maybe you would have a brighter idea. I think where rows represent different events instead of a succession of the same event the result is less understandable. There is no listing in the CI Yearbook for a Junior Women TT in 2001. You show Mary Boyd and good luck to her but it seems to have been a unisex event and she seems to have been just listed as 1st lady. You take it from here. John O Shea is listed in the yearbook as the winner in agreement with what you show but there is no mention of your queried winner as shown in the link to Tommy Campbell's report. I wonder was this just a race and not a championship?Teachmor (talk) 22:26, 14 October 2013 (UTC)

No more counts in sports stats headings, please

Please, stop adding counts of tournament wins and the like to headings in sports biographical articles, as you have been doing at articles such as Mark Allen (snooker player). There is absolutely no consensus for this major change at WT:SPORT or anywhere else for that matter. I understand, I think, why you think this is a good idea, but in order for your (or anyone else's) assertion of such numbers to be valid additions to the encyclopedia, every single one of them would have to be individually cited to a reliable source. Just because a WP article lists, for example, 7 world ranking tournament wins for so-and-so person does not mean that that count is actually correct. Furthermore, you are creating a maintenance nightmare of unbelievable proportions. Every single heading of this sort would have to be checked on a regular basis to ensure that it is still accurate, as random editors, including many anonymous one-edit IP address users, are likely to add (valid or invalid) entries to such listings without ever bothering to update the headings. — SMcCandlish [talk] [cont] ‹(-¿-)› 21:19, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
