Ryan Solle

Another editor has added the "{{prod}}" template to the article Ryan Solle, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Few things

• You've probably had this answered already, but as to your question one year ago on the List of current MLS players talk page, the standard is to leave out playoff caps and goals.
• What's the latest on deletionists and MLS player articles? I know that Dan Stratford got deleted because he'd never been in a professional game, and then recreated when he got his first match...is there now a hard standard against MLSers who've never seen time in a pro match? If so,

1.) What about the notability clause stating that "Competitors and coaches who have competed at the highest level in amateur sports (and meet the general criteria of secondary sources published about them)" are eligible for articles? Does this only apply to stuff like the Olympics, or could it apply to playing for a DI school, as Stratford did?

2.) What about the MLS players who've never played a pro match but have articles anyway? Are we just hoping no one notices? If so, I fully support this!

• How do you feel about cultural sensitivity (or whatever) in the MLS player list? Like, I stuck Guillermo Barros Schelotto under the B section by Spanish convention, Rafel Gomes (Rafael Gomes dos Santos was the full title of his article) under the S section by Portuguese convention, and Van den Bergh was already under the B section, Fred already under the S section ("da Silva"), and so on. Are we overdoing it?

Invite to the African Destubathon

Hi. You may be interested in participating in the African Destubathon which starts on October 15. Africa currently has over 37,000 stubs and badly needs a quality improvement editathon/contest to flesh out basic stubs. There are proposed substantial prizes to give to editors who do the most articles, and planned smaller prizes for doing to most destubs for each of the 53 African countries, so should be enjoyable! So it would be a good chance to win something for improving stubs on African sportspeople, including footballers, athletes, Olympians and Paralympians etc, particularly female ones, but also male. Even if contests aren't your thing we would be grateful if you could consider destubbing a few African articles during the drive to help the cause and help reduce the massive 37,000 + stub count, of which many are rated high importance (think Regions of countries etc). If you're interested in competing or just loosely contributing a few expanded articles on African Paralympians, Olympians and committees etc, please add your name to the Contestants/participants section.
