Speedy deletion nomination of Brooklyn Free Speech
editIf this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Brooklyn Free Speech, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which pages can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may be soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:
- It seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. (See section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.
- It appears to be a clear copyright infringement of http://www.bricartsmedia.org/about-bric/our-mission-history. (See section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. However, even if you use one of these processes to release copyrighted material to Wikipedia, it still needs to comply with the other policies and guidelines to be eligible for inclusion. If you would like any assistance with this, you can ask a question at the help desk.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Managing a conflict of interest
editHello, BRICbobrectanglepants. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about in the article Brooklyn Free Speech, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:
- avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;
- instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template);
- when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
- avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or to the website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
- exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).
Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you. DanielRigal (talk) 00:45, 19 March 2017 (UTC)
Hi There Daniel,
Thank you for your feedback. I actually already have a page up that mentions Brooklyn Free Speech-- Brooklyn Public Network. Brooklyn Public Network is no longer in existence. I was simply trying to create a page for the network that is doing incredible work in the community.
And I really don't understand what conflict of interest the Wikipedia community thinks I have. I have a show on their channel and was simply trying to create a page because they don't have one.
Thank you,

- I don't really understand how you can be questioning that you have a conflict of interests and admitting it at the same time. I assume that you are misunderstanding the concept of a conflict of interests itself. You admit that you are here to promote an organisation that you are directly involved in. That is a conflict of interests. The conflict is between your role as a Wikipedia editor, in which you have to be impartial and neutral, and your role as a member of BRIC who seeks to promote BRIC and hence can not be neutral. You lack the impartiality to write about BRIC. Ironically, you would probably have no serious problems if you wrote about something else but the one thing you have an interest in writing about is the one thing you should avoid writing about. Please read the links in the warning message. those should explain it all. Also, maybe WP:NOTDIR helps to explain why we don't want an article on every single organisation. --DanielRigal (talk) 19:40, 19 March 2017 (UTC)

editHello, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. This is just a note to let you know that I've moved the draft that you were working on to Draft:Brooklyn Free Speech, from its old location at User:BRICbobrectanglepants/Brooklyn Free Speech. This has been done because the Draft namespace is the preferred location for Articles for Creation submissions. Please feel free to continue to work on it there. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to ask me on my talk page. Thank you. KGirlTrucker81 huh? what I've been doing 01:01, 19 March 2017 (UTC)
