A tag has been placed on The Indian Subcontinent Partition Documentation (ISPaD) Project, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. reddogsix (talk) 21:54, 3 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

I apparently got disconnected from the IRC help chat; sorry for that. I tidied up the section headings and the "external links" section, but the draft doesn't show the organization has received significant coverage in reliable, independent sources such as newspaper articles. Without such coverage it's considered not notable enough for a Wikipedia article. Huon (talk) 03:28, 2 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

advice

edit

As an experienced editor here, who specializes in working with articles on academic and related organizations, let me give you some advice: There are two fundamental problems with the article, and they were included among the various notices of non-acceptance that you were given, but it may have been difficult to sort them out:

First, our criterion for whether an organization can appropriately have an article here depends not on its intrinsic importance, but on whether there are multiple third party reliable sources in established publications that discuss it in a substantial way. This is explained further at WP:ORG. At present, this tends to be interpreted fair strictly. The first thing you need to do is to see if you can find such sources; if not, there is unfortunately no point in working further on the article. In my personal opinion, this sometimes gives absurd results, but that is nonetheless the actual situation. (I'd be glad to see it more flexible, but 8 years of experience here have made it clear to me that this is not likely to happen.)

Second, an article must be written in a concise and objective fashion, with emphasis on details likely to be of interest to the general reader. The tone need to be formal: direct, dull, and descriptive -- just like traditional encyclopedias. Material of interest primarily to potential of current participants or users is not considered appropriate. Material that explains the need for the organization or the merits of its work is also not appropriate: it is considered promotional. Assuming that you can indeed find good third party references, an appropriate article would probably be about half the present length.

If you improve it, let me know directly on my user talk page, and I will give it an immediate review. Don;t worry at this pointy about the logo. If the article is good enough to keep, it can be improved later. That's the basic key to working here successfully, make a sound start, and continue as you can. Meanwhile, establish your credentials here by improving articles on related subjects--especially by adding sources. DGG ( talk ) 04:15, 30 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for uploading File:ISPaD Logo.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 10:16, 3 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
