Ghoti

edit

So recently there has been an edit war over the slang meaning of the word ghoti. I would like to know what ghoti means in your area so we can come to an agreement so it can stay on Wikipedia. Please visit Ghoti's discussion page to discuss the correct meaning. Thank You.Atcheavy (talk) 18:43, 10 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, adding content without citing a reliable source, as you did to Ghoti, is not consistent with our policy of verifiability. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. If you are familiar with Wikipedia:Citing sources, please take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. McGeddon (talk) 08:50, 9 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for explaining the slang usage of "ghoti", but Wikipedia should only be used for slang which has already hit the mainstream. Wikipedia is not for things that you or your friends made up. Get back to us when it's in widespread use, and has been mentioned on television or in a magazine somewhere. --McGeddon (talk) 14:41, 9 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Please do not add unsourced or original content, as you did to Ghoti. Doing so violates Wikipedia's verifiability policy. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. McGeddon (talk) 07:18, 10 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hello. Thanks for opening up discussion on this - the best place to do this is at Talk:Ghoti, rather than linking to your talk page from the article body. Just start a new header on Talk:Ghoti. --McGeddon (talk) 19:01, 10 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for telling me to go to Ghoti's discussion page, I completely forgot that it existed.Atcheavy (talk) 19:07, 10 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Three-revert warning

edit

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Ghoti. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions in a content dispute within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Please do not repeatedly revert edits, but use the talk page to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. If necessary, pursue dispute resolution. --McGeddon (talk) 15:16, 10 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
