Billie Holiday edit

Just wanted to say thanks for making the change to this article; it needed it. IMO the whole article has a sometimes condescending/chatty tone, and could use some work, so feel free to be bold and roll up your sleeves. Welcome and good luck — ripley\talk 13:00, 24 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Photo edit

Hi, thanks for adding the photo to Marsden Wagner. However, since you are not the copyright holder, you need to request her to send an e-mail granting us the right to publish it on Wikipedia. Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission explains a lot about that, and links to Wikipedia:Declaration of consent for all enquiries. You have not uploaded it to Commons, which requires a totally free licence, but she must declare she is releasing the image under one of the free licences listed there. The address she should send her e-mail to is permissions-en@wikimedia.org. For more basic information about copyright rules for images on Wikipedia, see the box on the right side of the Requesting copyright permission page. Sorry about the legal complexity, but it is required because Wikipedia content is free for others to reuse as they wish unless the description page on an image specifically states that it can only be used in a limited way, and so it needs to be established that the copyright owner understands this and has given permission for use here and possible reuse. Yngvadottir (talk) 05:25, 15 December 2014 (UTC)Reply

Thank you Yngvadottir, could you please explain exactly what Karen needs to write in the email? I want this to be as effortless for her as possible, and I don't think I understand your answer well enough to be able to guide her. Annaxt (talk) 12:40, 15 December 2014 (UTC)Reply

File permission problem with File:Marsden Grigg Wagner.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Marsden Grigg Wagner.jpg, which you've attributed to Facebook. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Diannaa (talk) 00:47, 11 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hi Diannaa, I've now sent an email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org with a screenshot from a Facebook conversation between me and Karen Joan Wagner, owner of the photo in question and daughter of the late Marsden Wagner. I do hope it's proof enough! I really want to avoid having to ask Karen to send emails or fill in forms. Kindly, Annaxt (talk) 07:10, 11 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
I have tagged the file as "OTRS pending", and someone from the permissions team will assess your email. Thanks for taking care of this. Hopefully it will get sorted shortly. -- Diannaa (talk) 13:30, 11 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
Thanks Diannaa! Annaxt (talk) 13:38, 11 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

Deletion pending for File:Marsden Grigg Wagner.jpg edit

Hello, Annaxt. Some time ago, a file you uploaded — File:Marsden Grigg Wagner.jpg — was tagged with {{OTRS pending}}, indicating that you (or perhaps the copyright holder if you did not create this image) submitted a statement of permission to permissions-en@wikimedia.org. Though there is often a backlog processing messages received at this address, we should have received your message by now.

  • If you have not submitted (or forwarded) a statement of permission, please send it immediately to permissions-en@wikimedia.org and let us know at the OTRS noticeboard that you have done so.
  • If you have already sent this message, it is possible that there was a problem receiving it. Please re-send it to permissions-en@wikimedia.org and let us know at the OTRS noticeboard that you have done so.

If we don't hear from you within one week, the file will be deleted. If we can help you, please feel free to ask at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 14:34, 6 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hello and thanks again for reviewing my text! I have only written one new article on English Wikipedia, and that was long ago. So I'm not surprised to see the article refuted. But I'm struggling to understand how I can make it better. I've compared my text to the articles about Matt Preston, Jimi Famurewa, Tracey MacLeod and others, and I find them quite different from each other, and it's confusing :o
I would very much appreciate some concrete advice, examples if possible. I have of course read the reasons and the guidelines but must have missed the clues. Annaxt (talk) 12:37, 28 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
