Hi Anetode, I noticed that you forgot to sign this comment, so I added what Hagermanbot ordinarly would, using WP:SIG as a reference. I figured on one hand, you may want to sign it, now that you know. On the other, it seem trivial, unimportant, so I'll let you decide.--U.S.A. cubed 01:16, 27 April 2007 (UTC)

User talk:User is blocked

Should this talk page be deleted. This user was already blocked for the username, and probroly because it's misleading, and some people may even think that they are blocked when they come up to the talk page. However, I do think the autoblock should be disabled and there should be no account creation block, so that the user will still have a chance to create an account with an appropriete username, keeping with WP:AGF. That is the only concern.--U.S.A. cubed 22:22, 1 May 2007 (UTC)

Thank you. According to this, it has the ACB. Where you linked to the block log, not the blocklist, I don't think it gave those details, but I'll still take your word if you are still in disagreement.--U.S.A. cubed 22:36, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
Thanks a bunch for modifiying that block.--U.S.A. cubed 22:38, 1 May 2007 (UTC)

CD Covers

Hi,

I'm new to this and thought uploading CD covers was fine if I selected it from the dropdown menu. The Virgin Killer image can be deleted because someone else has replaced it with a much better image showing the two covers side by side. I've amended all the Keith Green covers with some appropriate text.

Please don't delete images without fair use rationale

Instead, could you put one in? It discredits my work when you delete images I upload and I feel like I've been spit on. There is clear fair use rationale, and even if there wasn't the copyright holders don't care. --Sir Crazyswordsman 02:45, 5 May 2007 (UTC)

Hi,

I think it's a good idea to see the two covers side by side in one image the uploader has made a commendable effort.

Untravel Guide

Why did you delete all my stuff? I've been working on that for weeks and you've deleted it with very little warning, very little time to argue keeping it and with very little evidence as to why it needs deletion. Either you put it back or I will. Citikiwi 05:50, 8 May 2007 (UTC)

I am planning on submitting it to the foundation to be a separate project (like Uncyclopedia) and so as an example, I am writing a frame of it on my userpage. If you must delete it from Wikipedia, bring it back so I can re-create it on another site. Any suggestions on where? Citikiwi 06:13, 8 May 2007 (UTC)
Thank you for the link, I want to keep the sub-page User:Citikiwi/UnTravel Guide with a brief overview and a link to the Wikia project (My Wikipedia page gets many view and would make a good page to advertize). I will send you the e-mail shortly.

Question Regarding Equity Milling Deletion

I am new to creating content here so please help me understand why you deleted the page I created on Equity Milling. I have read the guidelines for the reason you cite but they say, "Pages which exclusively promote a company, product, group, service, or person" and that "simply having a company, product, group, service, or person as its subject does not qualify an article for this criterion."

When I wrote the article I wrote it because the information was sorely lacking in Wikipedia and relevant as a term that is now being used in the real estate investment industry and by real estate regulators in the western states. I do not believe there was advertising or promotional content. Please help me understand, I really believe there is a valuable encyclopedic purpose for an article on the subject.

Jerhiah 15:48, 8 May 2007 (UTC)

Did you realise...?

Did you realise that when you blocked a user called Yo Yo B that I was stupidly blocked in the process? I edit from home and from college (the latter being a shared IP address) and just because someone who created a vandal account there was blocked I see no reason that that fate should befall me too. I've been a consistent Wikipedian since late January 2007, amassing over 1,500 edits in the process and receiving 2 barnstars. I thus find being blocked after all my hardwork an insult. Lradrama 19:02, 8 May 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for your reply. I'm sorry I used a rather harsh tone at the time I wrote to you - I was a bit miffed at the time you see ;-) . (After all, you're an admin, so you'd check if you were blocking people their history and background, I know.) Keep up the good work! Lradrama 08:21, 9 May 2007 (UTC)
That's fine, don't worry about it. I would never accuse a Wikipedian (and especially an administrator like yourself) of malpractice. I was in the wrong really for getting so heated up. Thanks for your reply, and happy editing! Lradrama 11:13, 10 May 2007 (UTC)

Lakers (talk · contribs)->Artaxiad (talk · contribs)

With the incredible amount of vandalism reverts and warnings, I wanted to give Lakers the extra benifit of the doubt. I know Artaxiad is banned. Does Lakers actualy have the same IP address, or what suspicious activity did the account of Lakers do exactly that prove as evidence that he/she is a sock of Artaxiad? I've read Wikipedia:Requests for checkuser/Case/Artaxiad, but I didn't see where it stated the evidence that Lakers was a sock of Artaxiad --U. S. A. 00:11, 10 May 2007 (UTC)

Gurchzilla

Thanks for that, though you could have lifted the autoblock... logging on to find myself blocked wasn't very amusing. Not sure how that happened; it seems administrators don't even check the user's contributions before blocking any more, which is very worrying – Gurch 03:15, 11 May 2007 (UTC)

Sorry for neglecting to lift the autoblock. The block was so surreal to begin with that I thought someone was playing a cruel joke. ˉˉanetode╦╩ 03:28, 11 May 2007 (UTC)
Sadly not. It is interesting to note that in 19 months of similar edits using this account I have never been blocked for violation of the three-revert rule. I have to wonder whether the outcome would have been the same had I been an administrator, or someone whom the blocking administrator recognized – Gurch 03:41, 11 May 2007 (UTC)

More information about T.D. Lycenko and his pseudo research can be found in the following book:

Suicidal vs. committing suicide

Hello Anetode, sorry if I've been too aggressive on the suicidal userbox controversy, here is my reply to your post there,

(unindented) Well, I can understand why people are so afraid of seeing people "suicidal" because of the life/death issue. However, a "desire" to die is different from the action of suicide. Many have been suicidal, having the desire to die, but never actually do it. It's the same logic that if a person has sadist desires but never actually beat/torture/kill anyone, no law enforcement would go after him. Being "suicidal" and commit suicide killing yourself is two different issues.

That is what I actually meant. I do agree that people who is attempting to kill themselves should be reported to hospitals or other emergency institutions. However, people who are "suicidal", i.e. have the desire to die does not require any emergency treatment. There is a distinction here. Regards. WooyiTalk to me? 19:51, 19 May 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for your understanding and kindness. You are indeed right about that my motive to keep the box is my inherent sympathy toward the disenfranchised and the marginalized. Personally in real live I've studied and written about suicide in class and elsewhere and feel that it's an issue with a great amount of sensitivity. Wikipedia, as an invaluable database of human knowledge and a community, I feel that it should have given suicidal people respect and equality, not "treatment", "therapy", because respect is the best antidote to frustrated ones. Regards. WooyiTalk to me? 20:22, 19 May 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for your message. I have no objection to that tag itself. I just reverted an edit by an IP used by a banned User:VinceB, who added the tag to User:Juro. Tankred 03:15, 21 May 2007 (UTC)

Sure

I definitely do agree to keeping personal conflicts away from your talk page, or anybody's talk page for that matter. I only find it pretty sad to find how easy it is to harass people on the Wikipedia - get an image or artcile contributed by someone you don't like tagged for speedy deletion, get it deleted by an admin pressed against time, and just say sorry if you get caught (and, if don't get caught, you can be pretty sure that the person you don't like had to spend quite some time in retrieving the deleted stuff). Great.

I really apologize for irritating you. That was never an intention. Rather the smugness of saying sorry for disruptive editing, and getting away with it irritated me enough to make that comment. I know, if I don't like it here, I always can leave. But, that's a defeatist attitude. I seek no sympathy or even understanding for me, but at least you could appreciate the need to stop behavior that may seem to be a case of harassment. That is not really personal. I am sorry that I made a comment on your talk page that didn't address you.

Anyways, thanks for restoring the image, re-writing the rationale and notifying the bad behavior. Cheers. Aditya Kabir 19:23, 21 May 2007 (UTC)

deleted article

I honestly don't understand why my article was deleted. A new shot was invented in Seattle. Now, more than 20 bars carry it. I added it to wikipedia, and it is deleted. What is the point of wikipedia if user contributions are now allowed? There was nothing objectionable about the article: nothing profane, no copyright violations, etc. It appeared to violate 'reliable sources'. Umm. if it's a new article, does the New York Times have to write about it before it can be created? This means that Wikipedia won't keep up with pop culture. I'm very confused.

Nasz

Hi Anetode. I saw your question on Nasz's talk page. Since he doesn't seem to be very cooperative, I odn't think you should expect and answer from him, so I will answer for him. It seems that his native language is Polish and he apparently has a an account in Polish Wikipedia as well. However, even in Polish, many of his edits are rather unscientific, ungrammatical, sometimes they make no sense or even are offensive. He's been inactive in Polish Wikipedia for a longer time; I didn't have time to investigate it more thouroughly, but it's likely that he was banned in the Polish WP, so he turned to English WP instead. — Kpalion(talk) 14:01, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

Aditya Kabir 22:00, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

Thanks. Very much. It's sad that we lose it at times. But, that too maybe alright as long as we recognize the problem, admit it and try to make ammends. Now, dear, can you really take a look at the image I requested above, and tell me if it's alright or not? Aditya Kabir 14:18, 31 May 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Can you feel anything when I do this.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Can you feel anything when I do this.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 18:43, 1 June 2007 (UTC)
