List of Holby City episodes

Hey, just to let you know, the list used to use transclusions from the series articles, but the large number of templates actually broke the page, with a huge loading time and a lot of the lower templates not loading at all due to too many transcluded templates. Copying the tables over manually was the only workable solution, so returning to using transclusions isn't ideal. Frickative 15:20, 19 July 2010 (UTC)

Here's the last version which used transclusions throughout. The code in the series articles has changed since then, so ignore the infoboxes and navboxes and just check out the bottom of the article. There was so much transcluded that beyond series nine, nothing worked at all. Frickative 15:25, 19 July 2010 (UTC)

How It's Made

Firstly, the merged list is not too long, and secondly, there is no project consensus that requires every TV show on earth to have separate spinout articles for each individual season. That's done for a few shows which have sufficiently high notability that we can write a really substantial article and well-referenced about each season; it is not a standard format to which all shows are automatically entitled. And given that we're talking about a documentary show whose episode lists can never be anything more than a bulleted list of four items per episode with no information whatsoever beyond that, it's especially unnecessary in this case. Bearcat (talk) 23:08, 27 October 2010 (UTC)

Note on Time Team episodes

Andrew, I get what you're trying to say with the note indicating that Channel 4 showed some of the Time Team episodes out of what was the anticipated broadcast order, but there's a couple problems with your edit. First, the sentence you added literally doesn't make sense. It's grammatically and semantically incorrect, which is why I removed it. Second, the table for Season 17 is in broadcast order, which makes the note make even less sense. Third, you need a reliable source indicating that Channel 4 showed the episodes out of order. That's going to be tough to find, since production order does not necessarily mean broadcast order, particularly where shows with non-serial content are concerned. If you can source the rearrangement of Season 17 episodes, I'd suggest you add a note just above the Series 17 table, and leave the opening statement alone. Drmargi (talk) 16:55, 1 November 2010 (UTC)

I'm a special educator, so I suspected the dyslexia once I saw a few of your edit summaries after leaving the message above -- my apologies if I seemed overly harsh. Here's the problem: you're using arrangement of the episodes on the website as the presumptive broadcast order. I've rearranged the table in broadcast order, but unless you have a better source than what's on the page you've linked, I'd argue you're assuming Channel Four or the show originally intended the episodes to be shown in the order they're arranged on the web page. It's cleaner and simpler to just arrange the table in broadcast order; all this out of order stuff isn't that important. Drmargi (talk) 17:18, 1 November 2010 (UTC)
I've reverted your last edit, and taken the table back to broadcast order. I'm not sure where you're getting the schedule change information, but the Channel Four site supports my edits, not the notes and edits you've made. Please, just leave the table in simple broadcast order. Even if there were schedule changes, they're not notable, certainly not enough to merit four notes that the sources don't support. Speedy deletion nomination of List of channels on Sky: Movies

You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles. See the Article Wizard.

Thank you.

A tag has been placed on List of channels on Sky: Movies, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be unambiguous advertising that only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam.

If you can indicate why the subject of this article is not blatant advertising, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please add {{hangon}} on the top of List of channels on Sky: Movies and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would help make it encyclopedic, as well as adding any citations from independent reliable sources to ensure that the article will be verifiable. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Jasmeet_181 (talk) 21:09, 1 December 2010 (UTC)

Suggestion

Andrew, with all due respect, your edit summaries, comments on talk pages and some edits are almost unintelligible. I know what your needs are, as we've discussed them in the past, but expecting others to either figure out what you're saying or to clean up your spelling/grammar errors isn't fair. Might I gently and respectfully suggest you type your edits and comments into a good word processor program first, let it spell check and grammar check, and then cut-and-paste into Wikipedia. Your last rather tart comment to me is literally unintelligible. Why not use the technology available to you and make sure you're understood? Drmargi (talk) 19:41, 4 February 2011 (UTC)

UHDTV Talk page; Autism

Thanks so much for your kind comments and encouragement. I was the one who mentioned under the 60 fps section of that talk page that I fall under the autistic spectrum, and you encouraged me to make those edits that I desire to as long as I follow the guidelines. It is nice to meet a friend with autism. I am sorry that a few people didn't treat you very well due to dyslexia and autism. I made an edit to Citizendium (an online encyclopedia similar to Wikipedia) recently, and mentioned on the talk page that I would like my edits reviewed to ensure they were not a violation of NPOV, and the person that responded wasn't super mean, but was kind of sarcastic and didn't give much feedback on what could be changed. That kind of made me feel bad. So it's comforting to meet someone that knows what I go through. I hope if you ever feel up to it, you can edit to your hearts' content (because you sound like someone that likes the Wikipedia guidelines and edits in good faith) and people can be there to help you. But good luck in whatever you decide to accomplish. I will take your advice and make edits whenever I feel I am familiar enough with the policies. Thanks very much and have a great day. I'd give you a Barnstar or whatever for making someone like me feel more comfortable at Wikipedia, but I don't know how (and besides, I probably need to have an account to do so). But if I could give you one I'd do it in a heartbeat because your encouragement was exactly what I needed. Thanks, 67.182.237.57 (talk) 00:11, 22 July 2011 (UTC)

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, talk pages are meant to be a record of a discussion; deleting or editing legitimate comments is considered bad practice, even if you meant well. Even making spelling and grammatical corrections in others' comments is generally frowned upon, as it tends to irritate the users whose comments you are correcting. Extreme Makeover

Hi, yeah.. you're going to have to show me what you mean. What line colour? Matthewedwards (talk · contribs) 20:06, 17 May 2012 (UTC)

OK, let me know when it's done. Matthewedwards (talk · contribs) 20:18, 17 May 2012 (UTC)
Ah. It's what I call the "Zebra effect". This is a documented output with the template (see Template:Episode list#Sublists). When the episode list is transcluded, the template alternates the background row color between light and dark gray, depending on the value of {{{EpisodeNumber}}}. Odd-numbered episodes are lighter, even-episode numbered rows are darker.
Other pages that I know of where the zebra lines are broken are List of Friends episodes and List of Degrassi: The Next Generation episodes when episodes are double length. I do intent to bring this error up in the near future (I allude to it at Template talk:Episode list#Row scopes redux), but where is episode 10 anyway?
I changed |Title= to |RTitle= so that the family names were not in quotemarks. The table header doesn't say they're the episode titles, it says it's the family. If the episode titles are the names of the family, the table headers should say Title instead. Matthewedwards (talk · contribs) 20:32, 17 May 2012 (UTC)

Decline reason:

Your comments at User talk:Dannyboy1209 speak for themselves. Speaking as someone who has a related disorder, PDD-NOS, I would never use it to try to excuse comments I've made. Explain them, perhaps, but never to ask for a free pass; I'm still accountable for what I say, as are you. You're very lucky I didn't come across it first, because I would have given you a 48 hour block as well. The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 00:39, 20 May 2012 (UTC)

If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Do not use unblock requests to ask for information. Your unbelievably inappropriate comments regarding Aspergers have led to this block. Although it cannot excuse their behaviour, your insensitivity towards that editor should have led to a much longer block than this (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 21:29, 19 May 2012 (UTC)

I think you should reread wha ti have said, I HAVE ASPBERGER i know the condition better than most and it does not cause what there saying it justa excuse so you have blocked me for a very unreasonable reason--Andrewcrawford (talk - contrib) 21:30, 19 May 2012 (UTC)

It's extremely reasonable. You downplayed the potential for Aspergers to actually cause issues - it affects every person differently. You belittled the possibility that it was, indeed, causing him issues. (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 21:38, 19 May 2012 (UTC)

And what are you doing???? you are belittling me and assuming i was belittling him i wasnt but celarly you think i was, and since as you put on that users block denial page that you know aspberger pretty well you are showing you do not, so thanks for the response--Andrewcrawford (talk - contrib) 21:42, 19 May 2012 (UTC)
No, he is not belittling you, and given what I'm reading there and from my own personal experiences Dannyboy is either conflating Asperger's with something else (most likely) or is lying to try and get a free pass (very unlikely). Having said that, your comments are exacerbating the situation there, so I would suggest backing off and letting the admins handle it, no offense meant. —Jeremy v^_^v Bori! 22:03, 19 May 2012 (UTC)

WEll i cant but not back off ;) considering when i posted on the user page and being givena warning the admin has jumped the gun and has accused me ofa perosnal attack which i never done, my english isnt great but i was trying to help the user if that cant be seen well nothing i can do but to go straight to a block with hardly just gettinga warning is uncalled for--Andrewcrawford (talk - contrib) 22:07, 19 May 2012 (UTC)
Actually, you were warned off. Nevertheless, based on the severity of the NPA, there's no need for a warning. All human beings know that they exchange that was going on at their talkpage was improper (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 22:09, 19 May 2012 (UTC)

i acutally was alreayd in the process of typoing befor ei seen the wanr off so i never got the warnign until after i ha alreayd posted. but i wasnt attacking them if you look on my user page (well i think i have it there) i am dsylexic and have severe problems with conveying english, which is also part of aspberger (autism) , aspberger is the way you communicate not your emontions, i was genueily trying to help the user, and still would, im not trying to use unblock not because i dnt think i shouldnt be blockmed because clearly my way of expressing ymself might have seemed off but cause i dnt know what it was i said that makes oyu think i am belittling them i cant really comment--Andrewcrawford (talk - contrib) 22:14, 19 May 2012 (UTC)
You flat-out said he was using it as an excuse. That's NOT your place to do so. Seeing as your "unblock" request is not a request ... and you still do not seem to understand that what you did was incorrect, I'm unwatching this talkpage - you clearly need to read WP:GAB before proceeding any further (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 22:21, 19 May 2012 (UTC)

Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated

I'm just wondering, what channel are the new episodes of Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated airing? I tried searching for sources and I found out that the show airs on CBBC, Cartoon Network UK, and Boomerang UK. If you can tell me which channel is going to be airing the new episodes beginning June 2nd, it'd be appreciated. :) Also, if you could tell me the time, it'd be great.

Okay, thanks for telling me. :) Do you know where I can get the future episode names or air times for the new episodes only?

Is it possible for you to tell me via email or something the episode titles and air dates along with the descriptions? — Preceding unsigned comment added by SymBionicTitan (talkcontribs) 17:30, 28 May 2012 (UTC)

If you don't mind, can you post them on my Talk page? :) If you can provide the air dates, episode titles, and their descriptions, I would appreciate them greatly. :D And I don't know how to sign my posts. XD — Preceding unsigned comment added by SymBionicTitan (talkcontribs) 17:38, 28 May 2012 (UTC)

Thanks! If you receive more episode titles or maybe the descriptions, can you please tell me? :) --SymBionicTitan (talk) 17:49, 28 May 2012 (UTC)

Thank you so much! Hopefully the show will start airing in the United States soon. :) --SymBionicTitan (talk) 18:12, 28 May 2012 (UTC)

Re:SCooby DOo Mystery Inc ep 27

Thanks :) Swifty*talk 21:56, 1 June 2012 (UTC)

Just provide me with the URL and I'll format the reference in the article. And let's not bother with international premieres for the first half of Season 1, since we agreed that we'd only post the international airdate if the episode premiered outside the U.S. first. Black Yoshi (Yoshi! | Yoshi's Eggs) 13:44, 2 June 2012 (UTC)
Only post those dates if they're even earlier than the Canada airdates already posted; otherwise don't bother. And the source doesn't have to be online; there are reference templates for physical sources such as books, magazines and newspapers too. Black Yoshi (Yoshi! | Yoshi's Eggs) 16:32, 2 June 2012 (UTC)
And as for the Season 2 airdates, let's not even post those episodes until we find a source -- the best I've found is some forum announcement and those are not reliable since they are sourced from elsewhere themselves. Black Yoshi (Yoshi! | Yoshi's Eggs) 17:13, 2 June 2012 (UTC)

List of Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated episodes airdates

Hello. When adding episode airdates, please provide references within the article or they will be seen as unsourced content and removed. Wikipedia is not a crystal ball, and such edits turn it into one. In addition, since this is an American show, only American airdates should be listed here. Black Yoshi (Yoshi! | Yoshi's Eggs) 13:44, 27 May 2012 (UTC)

Hello again. I thought we should discuss and attempt to come to an agreement here on which airdates to include in the article. I've been thinking about this for some time, ever since I got us into this mess (for which I apologize sincerely), and I'm in two minds about this. Part of me likes the idea of going with the original airdate regardless of the region or network it refers to, so long as said region or netowrk is specified to avoid confusion, but part of me also considers listing airdates for multiple regions. I've been considering such episode lists as MythBusters and Top Gear UK and TGUSA, all of which bear airdates for their home markets despite the fact that all three shows air worldwide. I've also been considering such shows as Code: Lyoko, which offers airdates both for France and the United States, since the show is popular in both regions.

I propose we go with Option B on this one, offering airdates both for Cartoon Network US and for one or two other networks; any more and we're pushing WP:NOTTVGUIDE. I'm thinking for the US and Canada primarily, since Teletoon in Canada tends to air new episodes before almost any network the world over. That way, we keep WP:CONSISTENCY while showing airdates for multiple countries. Black Yoshi (Yoshi! | Yoshi's Eggs) 03:33, 29 May 2012 (UTC)

No, that's Option A you're talking about; Option B would list at least two airdates, one for the US and others for regions such as Canada and the UK. I'm not limiting it by any means, I'm just trying to keep it within the bounds of WP:NOTTVGUIDE. Allow me to clarify:
  • Option A: List the first airdate regardless of region, but specify which region it refers to so as to avoid confusion;
  • Option B: Provide airdates for multiple regions to maintain WP:CONSISTENCY, for example the US and Canada.
For both I'm speaking of List of Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated episodes alone; every episode page is different, as Matthewedwards told us.
My proposal is to go with airdates for the US and a few other regions (for example, Canada and the UK), have one column for US airdates and another for other regions.
Many other shows limit airdates to just two regions; any more than that and it becomes a TV guide, which Wikipedia isn't. Black Yoshi (Yoshi! | Yoshi's Eggs) 12:50, 29 May 2012 (UTC)
Exactly -- that was my Option A. Perhaps we could combine the two -- show the US airdate AND the airdate in whatever region airs it first? Black Yoshi (Yoshi! | Yoshi's Eggs) 13:33, 29 May 2012 (UTC)
I have found a source for episode 27. Swifty*talk 22:29, 31 May 2012 (UTC)
What's the date and I'll do it by the way it's {{Citation needed|date=}} that's how you get a citation needed and you added the month and year. Swifty*talk 19:46, 2 June 2012 (UTC)

episode 27 2nd june 2012, ep28 3rd june 2012, ep29 4th june 2012, ep30 5th june 2012, ep31 6th june 2012, i gave the titles to oyu on your page you coud ciatin needed for them [1]Andrewcrawford (talk - contrib) 19:59, 2 June 2012 (UTC)
Okay go ahead. Swifty*talk 20:14, 2 June 2012 (UTC)
Actually, in all honesty, I'm almost thinking of simplifying this further and not worrying about the international airdates in this case. You have your sources, Andrew, and that's fine, but I'm just not certain we really need to go through all the trouble of seeking out international airdates for every episode when a simple "Airdates used are U.S. airdates; the back half of Season 1 was delayed in the U.S. but continued on regular schedule in Canada, whilst Season 2 premiered in the UK a month before it premiered in the U.S." would suffice. I'm sorry if this goes against your wishes, Andrew.
I take full blame for getting us into this mess in the first place. I should not have mentioned anything about airdate preferences, but I did, and that's what started this whole mess. Every episode article works differently; in this case, I'll let you guys look for the source and I'll do the formatting. If you guys can't find a source, tell me and I'll remove the international airdates. Black Yoshi (Yoshi! | Yoshi's Eggs) 20:35, 2 June 2012 (UTC)
Yoshi you know better then anyone that I am just trying to help out with the page. I have been doing it since I was under User:JamesAlan1986 and you know it LOL! So no need to feel bad about this I am doing what I do best and that's help. Swifty*talk 20:45, 2 June 2012 (UTC)
Personally I think we should only post the episodes after they have aired, if they are in the UK first then we post it in there with the airdate and a TBA for the US and that way we do not have a lot of TBA summaries, titles, etc. You know? Swifty*talk 20:47, 2 June 2012 (UTC)
I know that, Swifty, and many thanks for it, you've been a good friend and helper with that page. That is a good idea, just so long as we can find a source. Black Yoshi (Yoshi! | Yoshi's Eggs) 21:11, 2 June 2012 (UTC)
No problem bud. Agreed with what you said on my suggestion and as you said sourcing them. Andrew what do you think? Swifty*talk 22:58, 2 June 2012 (UTC)

By the way need to remove boomerangtv.co.uk as a source they remove the prior days episodes so it seems to me another source needs to be found. Another note boomerangtv.co.uk does not post episode names so we do not know if they are the episodes we are posting or just re-runs. Just thought I'd point that out. Swifty*talk 23:03, 2 June 2012 (UTC)

In that case we'd need to remove all but Episode 27, which an IP recently added. Until we find a reliable source, we cannot post those airdates or titles. Black Yoshi (Yoshi! | Yoshi's Eggs) 3:19, 2 June 2012‎ (UTC)
Yeah. I asked Zach if he had a source for Canada. Swifty*talk 23:35, 2 June 2012 (UTC)

In the meantime, I think I may have found a source for the U.S. airdates and titles for the first five episodes of the new season; the thing is, it's a Tumblr post, sort of like a Twitter or Facebook post, and I'm pretty sure those are not reliable sources. Black Yoshi (Yoshi! | Yoshi's Eggs) 21:34, 6 June 2012 (UTC)

Yeah its unrealible esicpally since they copied the information from here afte ri had posted them ;)--Andrewcrawford (talk - contrib) 22:29, 6 June 2012 (UTC)

Place of birth and nationality

You really need to read this, this, this and this (none of which refer to representative football) before trying to make any more blanket statements on the relationship between place of birth and nationality. Kevin McE (talk) 14:44, 9 June 2012 (UTC)

Sorry, but that is total and utter drivel. There is no single such simplistic definition of nationality that has ever held sway anywhere. Are you willing to back up this ridiculous generalisation with any sources? Kevin McE (talk) 15:07, 9 June 2012 (UTC)

Template talk:Episode list‎

Regarding your revert: the bug was created through the bullet points in ep #817, which I left untouched. And it is terrible to read through the old mess, so please inform me what other bug overlooked and we can go back to some form of readability. Thank you. – sgeureka tc 17:43, 12 June 2012 (UTC)

Editing

First of all I'm not in anyway the first person to have a go at you for spell checking an Admin did so earlier today.[2] Second of all Wikipedia needs not only to be accurate but words need to be spelt properly especially in article space. Im sorry you are dyslexic however i do not apologise for asking you to use a spellcheck as its very difficult to follow you nor is there an excuse for not following talk page guidelines. You don't indent you just leave mass spaces which is incredibly difficult to follow and other users should not have to go through and do that for you. That combined with the inability to read what you type make it impossible. You have been an editor for sometime and are no newbie so u would of thought you would know all this.Edinburgh Wanderer 20:58, 14 June 2012 (UTC)

Also looking through your edit history you mostly don't include Edit summarys, which is also important.Edinburgh Wanderer 21:00, 14 June 2012 (UTC)
You don't use the indent because I've just had to go through and add them. I wouldn't go through and correct your spelling although i was tempted as i have problems there too. Ive looked through and yes you use edit summaries sometimes but not always even in article space. I have nothing against you being an editor but please start indenting and not using the space, can you not use the space to type and then remove it or even indent and space if you have to its still easier to follow.Edinburgh Wanderer 21:28, 14 June 2012 (UTC)
Don't get me wrong I'm sorry for biting you and in not to bothered about the spelling in talk pages but just please indent. Long discussions are impossible to follow and after two days of trying to understand it I snapped. Anyway sorry about that. What do you think about the page needing protected. It's clear we can't agree so think it might be best now. Edinburgh Wanderer 10:38, 15 June 2012 (UTC)
I've added my thoughts to the page. I disagreed before but its just becoming a mess. I've asked a few others last night if they wanted to comment but no one has. The main problem is no one really knows and Chris is using his interpretation but I disagree with the owner part I think Craig Whyte being listed is just going to cause more problems.
