David McClintock edit

Hello Andrew. I'm an experienced Wikipedian, botanist and co-author of The Flora of Derbyshire (2015). Firstly, I wanted to thank you for creating the new article about your father. There are quite a few botanists and natural historians who deserve pages here - and I have unsuccessfully tried to get the BSBI to release a few of their images of various nationally-notable botanists from their archives, both living and deceased, so that they can be used in articles here.

I've just "New Page Reviewed" and approved you page for Google search indexing, and made a few small tweaks, including adding a 'hatnote' to differentiate this article from that of David McLintock. There are still a few issues that need resolving, and I'd be happy to work with you or Nosebagbear to improve the page so that it meets Wikipedia's strict policies. There are two key issues you should probably quickly address. The first is to make a short declaration on your userpage to indicate your connection with this article. Nothing stops you from working on it if you do that, but we work on openess here. Please read Conflict of Interest to see how to add a short note to your userpage - or just paste this text into your as-yet-to-be-created userpage:

{{UserboxCOI|1=David McClintock}}

There seems to be quite a lot of factual statements in your article which are not directly supported by references. Ideally an 'inline citation' would follow each factual statement and allow it to be verified. We have ways to allow one reference to be used multiple times without having to re-enter all the details (see WP:REFNAME). Let me know if you need help doing this. The problem with articles about living or recently deceased people is that editors tend to be worried that unsupported content might not be correct, and often delete these bits. So the sooner some of the biographic statement can be supported, the better that would be. If you do happen to have added information based solely upon your family knowledge, it would be best to remove them if they can't be supported from any published sources. If you need any help - just leave a note on my talk page. Best wishes, Nick Moyes (talk) 10:42, 30 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
