Please help me get Youngina spelled correctly. It is not "Younginia", it is Youngina.65.78.245.74 (talk) 19:15, 24 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Re:Origins of Libertas

edit

Sorry, I had no idea about the larger project. I was doing new page patrol, and it didn't look like it stood on its own as an independent article, but I'm sure in time it could grow to one. - SimonP (talk) 02:55, 21 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

I think if you called Irish Times 00 353 1 675 8000 and ask for the journalist who might be interested they will certainly take the call.
I have wondered whether Ganley the leader has read it , if I was a journalist I would ask him some spot questions.
Germany must have redesigned its laws after 1945.
You have done an amazing job organising all that info. Is there an EU barnstar? Catapla (talk) 11:15, 2 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

I fact you should get one of these for each page that you have done, but where would you put them all?

Are Junilistan joking a little? "if it only boils down to democracy and transparency and these vague terms, then I see no problem in cooperating with them." It was Soren who really attacked the 1 mil offer. But who knows there is a lot of opportunists out there. Of course EU groups is another issue, but they seem split in Sweden over Libertas

There is a very perverted argument here "National elections usually feature 80% participation rates, whereas the European elections average at 30-40%. This is quantitative evidence of how the EU lessens democracy. "

he is saying that because people do not exercise their democratic rights of franchise then the EU is undemocratic. That is twisted logic. If they were denied there right to vote that might be true, but just because people don't bother to vote does not mean the institution is undemocratic.

Don't know where the 22 Czechs come from.

Random thoughts How many Libertas candidates/supporters/members are from the far right or have expressed such views/objectionable views re race?? How many of these have been disowned by Libertas, How many have been re claimed after disowning etc How many were left wing? I would be interested in that list. Do you think we could put together a version of 111th United States Congress for the Sixth European Parliament? Party details would be easy, major events perhaps, but where can we get concise information of passed legislation? I looked around on EurLex and so on but I get so lost in all the number and leter codes I have no idea where I am looking. Do you know where this information is? We have a few famous things that may make the article worth it: Bolkestine, REACH, the new criminal legislation, waste directives and so on...- J.Logan`t: 12:43, 24 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

European Parliament Ireland constituencies 2009

edit

Hi Anameofmyveryown, Do you still work on constituency maps? I left a message for Barryob but he does not appear to be active at the moment. For the 2009 European Parliament election in Ireland, the North-West constituency has gained the counties of Longford and Westmeath from the East constituency. This means new images are needed for the articles, when/if you have the time. The current ones that barryob created like File:North-West (European Parliament constituency).svg should ideally be renamed as 2004-2009 versions for historical purposes, and new ones created for the current boundaries, 1 with each constituency highlighted and 1 with all constituencies. Edit war on Declan Ganley

edit

You might have a look at the page I am pretty sure there is an edit war on there. This Ip 91.189.71.198 registered to an Irish address at Tuam, Co. Galway has been removing sourced info. Several new users are also adding opinion and unsourced material violatingWP:BLP. It might be time to put an Obama style regime in place as there is an election. Catapla (talk) 15:49, 8 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

See ANI here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Administrators%27_noticeboard/Incidents#User:QuotationMan_and_Declan_Ganley_etc

Catapla (talk) 21:31, 16 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

The ANI seems to have disappeared, can you sandbox a version I can replace the current on ewith that would bring the page back to before the NPOV edits? I am not sure how to revert that much. I will then remove all weasel words etc hat have crept in.

Catapla (talk) 17:28, 18 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hi in fact the 58 footnotes to verifiable sources on Declan Ganley are now reduced to 12 many of which are own websites of the subject. All footnotes were WP:RS so I don't know really it seems to be complete vandalism under the guise of adherence to policy. There are editors who appear to be a tag team on the page now. I have very little time to really get into this but have added dispute tag. Catapla (talk) 17:23, 19 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Agree, more than 12 links I posted from mainstream broadsheet newspapers were removed. Interestingly, some of the users have IP's in Tuam (where Libertas is based). The pages are also only edited by these members between 9 and 5 which is also telling. Any negative (but properly sourced and incorporated content) is removed by these users. Truthinirishpolitics (talk) 09:18, 21 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

User:Truthinirishpolitics and User:Catalpa, you need to get this discussion off my talk page. User:Truthinirishpolitics, I have already advised User:Catalpa how to proceed here, and I give the same advice to you: in a nutshell, create a version of DC in your own sandbox, inform admins of what you are doing to ensure good faith, bring it up to spec, make sure it doesn't violate WP:BLP, then when it's clean and WP:BLP compatible, move it into mainspace. Both of you working together should get it done within 48hrs. Please note that the DC article is now so unstable it'll attract admin attention, and you are running the risk of bans/blocks.
