How you can help

Hi and welcome! I will be watching Irregular Choice with interest but I should point out quickly that you can't directly copy and paste text off the web into an article. It must be written in your own words as otherwise it is considered copyright violation and when seen on Wikipedia it must be deleted on sight. You're making a great start so if I can help you with improving your article please do say. Being aware of these shoes, I think they're a good subject for Wikipedia. Speedy deletion nomination of Irregular Choice edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Irregular Choice, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. NawlinWiki, I think this deletion was really hasty and a bit inappropriate. This is a new editor who was trying to create an article on a company/brand that I believe is notable and I was hoping to help them improve it and bring it up to Wikipedia standards. Yes, it had problems, but it had the basis to be a decent article. Mabalu (talk) 13:05, 4 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
Also as I recall, there were a lot of sources in the article although they were not properly cited and I was waiting to see if the contributor needed help there with doing proper citations, etc. If Amybeckwith never comes back (and I wouldn't blame her) please can you move the page to my user space so I can fix it. Thanks. Mabalu (talk) 13:09, 4 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
  • The problem was that the article was almost entirely language like this: "designer Dan Sullivan intended to make a unique and individual stamp on the footwear world and set out to create something different."... "Inspired by his travels to Asia and around the world, Sullivan launched the Irregular Choice brand with a collection of shoes based upon the traditional Japanese split-toe look. These original inspirations are carried forward into many of his present collections, continually allowing the brand to adhere to its original philosophies." This is promotion/advertising, and we see dozens like this every day. If this user, or you, can write a nonpromotional article, feel free to repost. NawlinWiki - please note that I had already picked up on some of the problems and was trying to offer guidance to Amybeckwith on how to rewrite and improve the article. Sometimes we really need to encourage new editors to fix things instead of coming down on them like a ton of bricks and sweeping away all their work, especially when they are making an effort with things like page formatting, providing links for reference, etc. I don't believe it was intended to be advertising. Help request edit

NawlinWikiMabalu Hi Guys Im really sorry, I am totally new to this and if I am honest have no idea what I am doing. I don't even know if you will even get this message I am sorry. I really want to try and make this work I would love some help if you can give me it!--Amybeckwith (talk) 14:02, 4 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi Amybeckwith - I'm happy to help you rewrite the article in such a way that it meets encyclopaedic requirements. You could start rewriting it at WP:Articles for creation. Mabalu (talk) 14:12, 4 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
Reply to {{help me}} request: User:Mabalu has volunteered (above) to help write this article. You can leave a message on their talk page to discuss. You can also ask further questions here. But first off I suggest you read the guide to creating your first article which will give you a lot of great information. Also read the reasons above that caused your initial effort to be deleted. Promotional language, non-neutral language, and puffery are never allowed. Good luck on getting your article finished. —    Bill W.    (Talk)  (Contrib)  (User:Wtwilson3)  — 14:26, 4 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
Thank you Wtwilson Hopefully me and Mabalu can work out a way to make things work. I cannot wait to start making my first Wiki page!--Amybeckwith (talk) 16:03, 4 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Irregular Choice edit

Hi Amybeckwith! As you've no doubt seen I kind of gave your article quite a major overhaul - but I've tried to retain a lot of the info you put in. I hope you like what I've done and see how I've kept the information without it appearing like an advertisement. Mabalu (talk) 16:47, 5 September 2014 (UTC) Hi MabaluThe page looks fantastic!!! Thank you so much for your help this is perfect. --Amybeckwith (talk) 08:11, 8 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
