Managing a conflict of interest edit

Hello, Amb2377. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest or close connection to the subject.

All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.

If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:

  • Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
  • Be cautious about deletion discussions. Everyone is welcome to provide information about independent sources in deletion discussions, but avoid advocating for deletion of articles about your competitors.
  • Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
  • Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.

Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. NeilN talk to me 19:07, 9 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

Gerber edit

Please clarify here your relationship to the subject. See our Terms of Use, particularly with respect to paid contributions without disclosure. This is not optional.

Then , rewrite the article to remove vague undocumented statements about his importance, remove the list of lectures he has given, add a list of his 3 or 4 most cited peer-reviewed publications, including the citation figures, in order to show notability according to WP:PROF. Remove insignificant matters, such as being a reviewer for a journal. DGG ( talk ) 22:52, 31 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your input. I am a person with an interest in current psychoanalytic research/researchers.

I will re-write the article in short order. and make suggestions you have recommended.Amb2377 (talk) 16:22, 4 September 2015 (UTC)Amb2377Reply

Are you truly asserting that you are not an employee or contractor of the AR Center or of its director? If you are, you MUST declare, tho you do not have to give your name or specific position. If you are, and do not declare, your will be banned from Wikipedia and your contributions removed, for violation of out terms of use.

I also refer you to WP:MEDRS--all claims for having done something of clinical significance must be shown by sources that qualify there. that he himself claims to have done something is not proof that this is accepted by the scientific community. DGG ( talk ) 02:33, 8 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

I am an employee of the Austen Riggs Center; I am sorry if I was not clear previously. I am new to Wikipedia and have much to learn. I have updated my user page to reflect my affiliation with ARC. I appreciate your help and welcome your guidance on how best to proceed with this page. Thank you. Amb2377 (talk) 13:41, 9 September 2015 (UTC)Amb2377Reply
