Managing a conflict of interest

Hello, Alpsintegral. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page Rachel Parris, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Please do not remove content or templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Rachel Parris, without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your content removal does not appear to be constructive and has been reverted. If you only meant to make a test edit, please use your sandbox for that. I do not have a COI although I did ask Rachel Parris directly for an up to date image free of copyrights etc. This image is uploaded somewhere. Hello Alpsintegral. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Alpsintegral. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Alpsintegral|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. Yes sorry (talk) that's completely unfounded. I am not being paid or compensated directly or indirectly in any way for any edits. The image on wikipedia is out of date, that's all. I'm obviously new here and causing issues, so I won't try any more. I'll leave you to it!Alpsintegral (talk) 13:04, 8 February 2021 (UTC)

Your username is that of an agency(which you need to change as described below) and you say you have been in communication with an article subject. Are you saying that you work in public relations but this person is not your client? You don't have to be specifically paid by the edit to be a paid editor. 331dot (talk) 13:07, 8 February 2021 (UTC)

Releasing a free image

Hi Alpsintegral, I'm told you've been pointed to this already, but the proper process for a copyright holder of a previously published image to release materials under a free license to Wikimedia Commons is through this process. The reason for this is that otherwise somebody could impersonate Parris or the copyright holder and claim to release the work under a free copyright against the subject's wishes. What you are currently doing is just repeatedly breaking copyright law and users will continue to undo your edits. If you need help then you can ask me on my talk page, ask another volunteer at the Teahouse or email a volunteer at info-en-o@wikimedia.org. We appreciate your efforts to update the picture of Parris but we can't accept the way you are going about things for legal reasons.
